There are constantly long queues at the checkout. Usually only one register is open with a huge line of people waiting. Sometimes there are two, but only when it's extremely busy. The staff often seem gloomy and unwelcoming, and the whole place looks messy and unpleasant. In general, Lidl seems to be getting worse and worse. Other supermarkets now have self-checkouts that also allow you to pay with cash, which makes life much easier. Here, you often can't do that, which is frustrating--especially when you want to send your child to buy something and give them cash. Honestly, I can't stand this store anymore--neither this one in Bray nor any other Lidl. The only reason I still end up here sometimes is because Aldi doesn't have the same bakery selection. If they did, my foot would never step inside any Lidl again.

We hit the Spar to have stuff in our hotel room, for when we get hungry between meals. And the Spar did just that! They also sell random things that you might run out of on your trip. Great spot to replenish your essentials! You can't beat the open 24 hours convenience!

So I did find some Doritos flavors at Spar that i hadn't seen anywhere else during my time in Dublin. It's a fully stocked store with an array of items from chips, candy, and cookies to an assortment of grab&go sandwiches and instant ramen. This location is nestled on the corner of a busy, crowded street. No self-checkout. You have to pay at the register. The customer service was a bit lackluster.

The displays are so appetising and appealing, the produce is always clean and vibrant and not bruised and battered, no limp lettuce here! It stocks a huge selection of in season fruit and veg, most of it sourced locally. As well as salad vegetables, dried fruits, nuts, seeds, it offers a Mediterranean selection bar of olives, sun dried tomatoes, sauces, pesto, oils and cheeses. A healthy deli section of cold cuts, cheese and spreads. A dried food area of pasta, noodles, rices and the like. Lots of pulses and beans and different types of flour and grains. But my favourite bit is the rich, sumptuous, organic HEALTHY chocolate bar selection! The owner is very friendly and works in the store and is seen polishing his apples and carrying creates of fresh produce which arrives daily! This place really does deserve its two Bridgestone awards!

When we heard here of the prevalence of the "Chip and PIN" system here, we were super worried and braved awful ATM fees to withdraw cash down the way. Per Chase/British Airways: "Further, customers in the United States traveling outside the U.S. are not required to obtain a PIN. Merchants in Europe (or other countries) are required to: - Accept all cards with magnetic stripe - Honor all cards bearing the Visa/ MasterCard brand mark if they accept MasterCard - Accept magnetic stripe as well as chip cards, even in markets that are evolving to 100% chip card local issuance You should urge the merchant to insert the card into the terminal and follow the prompts. The terminal will automatically request a signature. If the merchant insists on not accepting the card, please call us at the number listed on the back of your card, to report the merchant name and address. " The folks at the store were very nice and may have been scared by various tactics used at the outset of Chip-and-PIN stuff (see the Wikipedia article) into refusing our card, but apparently it's a legal no-no, and we'd like to prevent other visitors from having to go through the rigamarole that we did.

I can't vouch personally for the meat though I'm told it's usually 'a fine bita schtuff', however I would talk in glowing terms about Superquinn's bakery section. As a child, I was transfixed by the wedding-like cakes on display and the intricately designed cakes and fancies of white, powder blue, pink and yellow with birthday names delicately etched on. There is still a satisfying home bakery smell when you walk in the entrance and the breads and cakes taste deliciously fresh. In general, I find it a more pleasant supermarket to shop around in, somehow less draining than the manic Tesco at the other end of the town.

Yes there are groceries and produces here, but there's also clothes, electronics, household items, books, etc. It's a big store and I've always been able to find what I'm looking for here. Prices at Tesco are pretty decent from what I've seen. Not quite as low as a Lidl or Aldi, but not as high as a Dunnes or Marks & Spencer. Since Lidl and Aldi has a lower selection it's nice to come to Tesco and do one stop shopping here. The Tesco is located on the upper floor of the shopping centre, but they have inclined flat escalators for shopping carts. There's a bathroom outside the Tesco on the upper floor that is clean and well maintained. Bus stops are located right outside, but for those with a car there is a car park here as well. I really like this Tesco and look forward to coming back here again.

The store was well laid out, bright, clean, organized and stocked will all the goods, fresh and packaged! We popped in after a few snacks to stock our nearby hotel room with and while we had a list of what we were after, I could not help but wander up and down each aisle. Always something new and exciting for me to waste time looking at...and I loved every minute of it! Service was friendly and helpful. Queues were moving quickly, always available staff on the aisles when needed. Only thing is they do not have a public restroom, so just in case you were in need during your trip in. Overall, solid shopping experience at my first Tesco!
