As Tescos go, this is not half bad.
Yeah it's ugly on the outside, a big square, aluminum looking box, all conspicuous in it's placement, awkwardly placed on the side of the Navan Road. But it's what's inside that counts, right?!
The coolest thing about this one is that it's Ireland's first zero carbon store. They've built all these environmentally friendly systems in place to ensure the least impact on the environment. That includes natural ventilation instead of AC, bio-diesel heating and rainwater harvesting.
There are other pretty good aspects as well.
- Parking: the shop is above a giant carpark, so you're away from the elements, can always find a space, and can easily wheel your trolley right up to it
- Cafe: there's a little cafe if you want a break from all your shopping (not sure who hangs out here to be honest; I'm always pretty delighted to get in and out as soon as poss!)
- Range: this is MASSIVE. So they have everything from electronics to clothes to garden furniture.
- Signage: I find it really easy to find everything I need here. In the one not five mins away on Prussia St, it's like a constant scavenger hunt.
All in all, big and ugly as it is, I can't fault it! read more
