We visited yesterday and we couldn't get to the cafe with our pushchair because the lifts were both playing up and when we asked cafe staff they said they'd had a fire drill in the morning which had interrupted the lift service but noone had reset them. Why was this overlooked? Multiple staff were seen passing the lifts which were noisly telling customers they weren't working. I felt sorry for the wheelchair users. And then mid-Saturday on a busy afternoon there were many crates blocking aisles causing chaos and queues. I politely waited with our pushchair for 2 staff members to get by with their crates and they gave no thank you at all. The staff are becoming so rude (excluding cafe staff, they are lovely and caring). A couple of years ago you would always see a slim build younger male manager on the shop floor overseeing everything regularly checking on staff and he had a good presence in the store. We go a lot and I have no clue who the manager's are now, their presence is not felt on the shop floor. And whoever is managing F&F has made a silly decision to squash baby boys clothing at the back, multiple items to a rail like TKmax. I used to like being tempted walking up the aisle by nicely set out items on the aisle for my son and nephew but not now. I order most things from Next now. It's a jumble sale in there. Bad decision for profit when babies are big selling points for sales. Let's hope this store gets it back together soon.

This tesco is average supermarket size and has all the features of an average supermarket yet even includes a pharmacy. There is a cafe upstairs which serves quite expensive, ok food. This looks over the whole shop. The staff in Alfreton Tesco are generally friendly and help quite well. The prices are standard tesco, cheap and great! On tues, weds, thurs, fri, sat this store is open 24hrs! Although it is very convenient, this store seems to be doing better than smaller shops and businesses in the area and so they have started closing down. It can be very busy most of the time and can be very hard to navigate around.

Parking is free, but space is tight and it always astonishes me that there aren't more accidents. Sainsbury's reputation for being pricier than the other main supermarket chains is entirely justified as far as I am concerned a weekly shop here always costs me more than it does when I visit Tesco or Asda. Unfortunately, the location is very convenient for me (see above!) The store layout is good and things are rarely moved around, which is a definite plus. The token non-food sections (clothes, toys, books, stationery, audiovisual etc.) are not particularly impressive and personally I'd rather see the space given over to a wider selection of food. Sainsburys. Reassuringly predictable.

At lunch time on a weekday, very busy with all tills ("registers" in American) having a queue ("line") of four or five patrons. The self-checkout had an interesting coin-acceptor that I've not seen before. Very tight parking lot. There is a petrol ("gas") station.

The staff in Farm street are lovely. They are all very polite, pleasant and chatty. It does get quite busy in there at times and as it is only small, there is no space to queue but the staff are very competent and soon get through the queue. The shelves are always well stocked and if you can't find what you want you can always ask. Of course there isn't much choice on offer but the selling point is like I said the convenience. They do have a good reduced section though and you can usually get reduced priced bread and salads as well as meats and fish. Sainsburys local do still have some of the offers on from the big stores so it is always worth a look if you have one near you.

The staff can't do enough to help you, and whilst the store is only small it has car parking, atm, lottery and pay point. I also noticed they have flowers, cards and gift card, always handy for last minute presents! Unlike most convenience stores in the area they tend to have pretty good avalability, and if its not in stock the staff will find out when its back, or if a another store has it. Always a pleasure to shop there, even if it gets a bit busy!

Marked down slightly for limited range of quality bakery goods, also sometimes not keeping up with date expiries on long life products. Accepts cards and has a cash machine, lottery machines etc Staff very keen to please

This is a very large Tesco Extra store with extras onsite including a pharmacy, opticians, Direct,…read morephoto processing, clothes and a cafe. Considering it is so large what always surprises me about this store is it is very relaxed. The high ceilings and glass front make it very light and airy. It is quiet so if you want a large choice but don't like cramped and busy supermarkets this could be a good compromise for you. From Monday to Friday it is 24 hours so you really can turn up whenever suits you. The range of products is very good and as the store is airy the size of the place doesn't over awe you so you can mosey round without missing anything. This relaxed feeling seems to spread to the staff too. There is plenty of parking and always plenty of trolleys/baskets to hand. As it is a Tesco I find some items can be a bit pricey compared to other supermarkets in the region.

The non-food departments contain a varied selection of goods at excellent prices, while the food sections of the store are well stocked and easy to navigate. My only complaint would be that the system of switching to self-service checkouts only after 10pm (i.e. there are no manned checkouts available after that time) is a bit of a pain if you are visiting alone and have a huge trolley full of goods that you have to process all by yourself. Other than that, recommended as a relatively stress-free place to shop (well, as stress-free as supermarket shopping ever gets).

Farmfoods is located near the Market Hall in Derby, away from the Westfields Centre & more towards…read morethe Cathedral Quarter. The major disadvantage of the store is its size as its very small! However, I only go in there for odd things so its not too much of an issue. Food is much cheaper than most places, however, like most shops, you really have to watch out for products that aren't 'loss leaders'. I've never really had a chance to test customer service in the shop as I've always been able to find items easy. However, with long queues at the kiosk I'm guessing it is quite poor. However, you don't really expect it in a place like Farmfoods.

This Aldi store is not really in Alfreton and is very close to Somercotes, near the industrial…read moreestates. This store is generally set out very well and sells most thing supermarkets do but with much cheaper brands. They also have random objects in metal bins down the middle of one aisle which are always worth a look in. The staff are not overly talkative but seem friendly and they are all over the age of 18. This shop is quite convenient for people living in somercotes and also for those who don't, it seems, because at weekends the car park is packed for people in Aldi and the neighbouring Iceland.
