What happened was absolutely unacceptable for anyone working in a healthcare setting. Sierra began by commenting on my outfit, saying she liked the "tutu thing" I had going on. I initially took it as a compliment. But the second I looked up, she and her assistant Annalise Kirschel were whispering and laughing. The energy shifted immediately - it was mocking, dismissive, and completely disrespectful. Trying to understand what was going on, I asked, "You really like it?". Instead of clarifying or easing the situation, Sierra escalated it ... and made comments including: "If I were you, I'd be so scared to put it on. But you think you can pull it off apparently." She said this in front of another patient, her assistant, and a trainee. I cannot put into words how humiliating that moment was. I felt blindsided, embarrassed, and deeply disrespected. I was so shaken that I couldn't even continue the appointment. Later, I learned from the team that there have been several complaints regarding Sierra Strain and her assistant, Annalise Kirschel, which includes a Yelp review from last year. That realization made everything feel even worse - it has happened multiple times. What infuriates me the most is that Sierra is actually responsible for training assistants and trainees. If this is how she openly treats her patient, I can't imagine the kind of toxic, unprofessional environment she's creating behind the scenes. It's honestly frightening to think that new professionals are learning from someone who engages in harassment like this. This was supposed to be a professional clinical appointment - not a situation where a clinician gets to ridicule and harass a patient for entertainment. Also the massages they would do on my shoulder really helped. My experience with the PTs was mixed. My first two sessions were with Jeff and he seemed to view work as social hour. He would give me exercises then immediately wander off to talk to another PT about his weekend or whatever else. No complaints about his knowledge or abilities as a PT, but he needs to pay more attention to patients. My last four sessions were with Madison and she was great. Much more attentive and also just generally fun to talk to. While I was doing exercises with her (or the assistant) they would walk around, look at my form, tell me where to improve so the exercises were more effective. Felt like I was getting a lot more benefit from those sessions. Overall I'd recommend them, but don't be shy about asking to switch PTs if you don't feel like you got a great one.

Once I had my first appointment I knew I had found the perfect medical care professionals. Their treatments are whole body with an emphasis on full mobility. They don't just look at the affected area without considering how it's affecting your walk, stance, sitting, and daily life. I've worked with many of the PTs over the years but have maintained a relationship with one of my original therapist who has helped me through a plethora of issues, injuries, and surgery. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Amanda DeRosa, and she was able to quickly identify that the issue was actually a strain in my upper calf area, which was caused highly in part due to the lack of mobility in my hips and ankles. Amanda designed a thorough stretching and exercise regimen that has me back close to 100% after just 4 weeks. She is extremely knowledgeable, being an athlete herself, and always works with a smile.
