I genuinely cannot stress enough how horrible my experience has been living at this apartment complex. I am actually a returning resident, which somehow makes everything even more disappointing because I came back expecting at least basic competence and decent management. Instead, my second lease here has been one issue after another.
When I renewed and moved into my new apartment, I walked into a unit with a BROKEN garbage disposal, a BROKEN AC unit, and a FLEA INFESTATION. Yes, fleas. I had a very young kitten at the time and he suffered because of it. Imagine paying luxury apartment prices just to move into a dirty, flea-ridden apartment where your pet is scratching nonstop because management clearly did not bother preparing the unit properly before move-in.
I reported the issue and even had someone come fumigate the apartment, which did absolutely nothing. Eventually I had to pay OUT OF POCKET for flea treatment myself because nobody here actually solved the problem. That should have NEVER been my responsibility in the first place.
And somehow it gets worse.
When I transferred into this new unit, my OLD lease had automatic payments set up. I specifically asked the office if the auto-draft would continue with the new lease and was explicitly told YES. Because of that information, I trusted that my rent would process like it always had. Well apparently the office had no idea what they were talking about because the payment date came and went, and on the FOURTH day I had an eviction notice taped to my door threatening legal action and removal if payment was not made immediately.
I have NEVER been late on rent anywhere I've lived. I take my bills seriously and pride myself on paying on time, so opening my door to an eviction notice because MANAGEMENT gave me incorrect information was honestly humiliating and infuriating.
Here's the part that really blows my mind: after speaking with the office, THEY ADMITTED THE ISSUE WAS THEIR FAULT and even refunded the late fee because they acknowledged I should have never been charged in the first place. Yet despite admitting fault and refunding the fee, they STILL reported the late payment to the credit bureaus, negatively impacting my credit score. I am now actively disputing this with the credit companies because there is absolutely no reason I should be dealing with credit damage over THEIR mistake.
That alone should tell you everything you need to know about how this place is run. They will admit wrongdoing to your face while still finding ways to screw you over afterward.
Another ridiculous issue involved my kayak. We literally live at a LAKESIDE apartment complex. During my first lease, keeping my expensive kayak on my balcony was NEVER an issue. Suddenly during my second lease, I received a notice threatening me with a fee of several hundred dollars if I didn't remove it immediately. The funniest part? The notice claimed it had been delivered "in person" while I was literally OUT OF THE COUNTRY for an entire week. So apparently they're just making things up as they go.
This place markets itself as "luxury," but the only luxury here is the amount of money they charge you while giving you the worst management experience imaginable. Luxury prices for flea-infested apartments, broken appliances, incompetent communication, and management that cannot keep their own policies straight.
Oh, and let's not forget they charge your guests to park in the GUEST parking. Absolutely insane.
If you enjoy:
- giant spiders appearing out of nowhere,
- worrying your belongings will disappear because people here have sticky fingers,
- getting contradictory information from the office,
- being blamed for management mistakes,
- and paying absurd amounts of money to be stressed out constantly,
then this is the perfect place for you.
Otherwise, save yourself the headache and live literally anywhere else.
If it wasn't for the lease break fee, which is also ridiculously high for the amount of bull sh*t someone has to put up with, I would have left this place a long time ago. This has easily been the worst apartment experience I've ever had, and I would NEVER recommend this complex to anyone unless they actively enjoy overpaying for poor management, unnecessary stress, and constant frustration. read more
