There's notebooks, sticker books, stickers, magnets, washi tape, keychains, calendars, and more! I ended up buying a fretting card for my fiancé and a postcard. These are just some of the core cultural values that are instilled from childhood that follow them into adulthood... And I just love this about them! So why do I mention this? Because what I observed while shopping at Wabi Sabi Japan Living while visiting Palm Springs late last year consisted of these exact values. The staff at this location were all so humble, polite, & respectful and truly embraced the "Japanese Living Lifestyle" in their customer service skills which I feel would truly make the Japanese people proud! Here's how it all went down... It all began when we were walking the streets in downtown Palm Springs doing a little window shopping, peering into various stores, when something caught my eye. Now, I don't know about you... But I'm a sucker for anything kitchen, houseware related. I used to work at Williams-Sonoma years ago while in college, so I know a thing or two about a well-stocked kitchen. And what caught my eye you ask?? All of the amazing, beautiful dishes that they have lining the walls, specifically the cat print bowls (see picture below). So, I hollered at my wife who had already moved ahead and told her to come back so we could check out the store. And of course, with 3 little kids, I said what every parent says before entering a store with breakable items: "Don't Touch Anything! You look with your eyes." "And if you break it, it's coming out of your"... ok I left this last one out, but I wasn't afraid to do it! ;) So we walked in, were warmly greeted and given the chance to browse at our leisure. While selecting the items we wanted and passing them off to be wrapped up by the 2 gentlemen working, I had a nice conversation with one of the employees who used to work in the city that we live in now... small world. Anyway, everything in this store is just so beautiful and embodies the "Japanese Lifestyle" We ended up getting the cat-themed bowls as we have 2 orange Tabby's, so I guess this officially makes me a cat dad, lol. In addition, Wabi Sabi has Japanese cooks tools, utensils, cookware, and a great selection of Japanese Made cutlery. So if you find yourself in Palm Springs and want to add a little Japanese flair to your lifestyle or at least to your kitchen, DEFINITELY check this place out.
