While the bowling aspect of Hollywood Bowl is fine, there are a number of things that could be…read moreimproved, mainly to do with the staff. The attitudes of the servers is often at best indifferent and at worst, rude. I've worked in food service jobs before and while they might not be the most glamorous, you're being paid to be nice to people. If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to work there. We've also had a problem with the bar before as they were serving flat coke. They changed it in a huff and wouldn't believe it was still flat when we tried it. We eventually had to give up and drink it. When you're being charged over the odds for some post-mix coke (which costs them about 20p per gallon) you at least expect some fizz in it. I think they are very used to serving people who are easily pleased.
Been to this place loads of times over the last few years…read more It's always fairly busy, especially at weekends when its a good idea to ring and book well in advance of when you want to bowl. It's easy to get to via public transport, with bus and tram stops surrounding the area. It shares the carpark with the rest of Centretainment and therefore you can struggle to park easily at busy times. The bowling part of the venue is good, with fairly up to date technology and always well stocked with different size balls. If you do end up having a problem with your lane though, it can take a while to get it resolved. Along with the bowling, theres an Arcade, bar and cafe area. These are all fairly average, but popular. It's about what you'd expect from an average bowling venue, though could do with sprucing up slightly in the toilet areas.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The cafe has a good chooice of food with meal deals for the family which is resonably priced. It is not as busy as other bowling places such as sheffield which means not having to wait for ages for a lane and not always having to book ahead.

It isn't…read morereally an activity that I think of regularly, despite having taken bowling as a course in high school. Yes. You read that right. That's a story for another time. Anyway, when Mr. Snarky suggested we go bowling after dinner, instead of a movie... I was pretty excited. We remembered there was a bowling alley across from where I have my car serviced. From the outside, it kind of looks like a warehouse. For a Wednesday night, they were fairly busy! There is no smoking inside (hurrah!) and it actually looks newer than I anticipated. I don't know how long they have been there, but compared to a Hollywood Bowl that we went to, it looks in much better shape. The staff are very friendly and we found out that they have an offer on Wednesday nights for 3 games and a drink for £12 (per person). For drinks you can choose from soft drinks to a glass of red/white wine or a pint of Tetley's or Carlsburg. We had trouble finding the bowling balls the right weight and with the right sized finger holes (I don't think there is a way I can word this without someone giggling...), so that was a bit of an issue. The lanes look well-kept and the music was a nice mix of new and old music. They have a small arcade game area with air hockey and pool to the back corner. It also looked like they had had a birthday party in earlier, so clearly an all-purpose venue. It is kind of a hidden gem considering it is not grouped in with the leisure park. Will definitely be back for a rematch with Mr. Snarky!
Absolutely brilliant service and a great evening!…read more Went here for the first time in around a year with my partner and her daughter an evening out and couldn't be more impressed. I called around 6pm on a Sunday and spoke to Shaun who got us booked in for half past(very impressed with the speed, was expecting an hour or more wait) and the evening was enjoyed by all, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, could not fault the place at all. Thanks to Shaun and the team, will definitely be back soon!
