Megabowl

Megabowl

Basically all you need to know is that if you like bowling you'll love megabowl! They provide a…read moregreat deal of entertainment aside from bowling, with all the arcade machines, pool tables, family fun centre and fully liscensed bar and restaurant. I was pleased with the service at megabowl, as because I have large feet, I often expect to be disappointed when i get there, but nevertheless, they did have bowling shoes in a size 15! Overall, megabowl is a very relaxed, and fun place for all the family. And for the ones of you who want to stay late, it much cheaper if you go after 10 as you often get free games.

Basically, what happens is you go in and after a brief training video your fitted with a plastic shield and given a 'laser' gun. (don't worry it's totally harmless!) and then you go into a darkened room (don't wear white as they're are lots of ultra violet lights which add to the atmosphere). you're separated into 2 teams and given a base to guard, the idea is that each team attack the other base and score points which are all recorded and the score is given out to you at the end. You can also shoot each others which renders you unable to fire your gun for a few seconds and scores points for the other team. Not so good for little kids, but great for teenagers and I've seen quite a few stag parties have a go! Back to the bowling - it's tenpin and you can chose to go it alone or have bumpers, there's also the use of cradles for the less able bodied folks and little kids. They have a fully licenced bar aswell, and you can order food and drink to be delivered straight to your bowling lane! easy!

Wakefield Superbowl 2000

Superbowl is always a good afternoon or evening out. This place has got less exciting since they…read moregot rid of the Laserquest a few years ago, but it's still fun. It's clean, the staff are nice and there are plenty of lanes - a few on the ground level and plenty more upstairs. Unfortunately, though there are lanes on the ground floor, there are a few steps leading down to them from bar seating area, making it difficult to access for people in wheelchairs - Doncaster or Castleford are better for disabled access. The superbowl's got a little bar and a cafe (a wimpy I think) as well as a few video games. It's not in central Wakefield but it's only about 15 minutes walk, there's a bus that goes right past, and it's got its own carpark.I'd recommend going on one of the party, where you get all night bowling with a DJ on and a free basket meal for about £12. Cheesy, but fun.

The Superbowl in Wakefield has a better name than it might suggest.. it's not exactly super but it…read moreis a decent bowling alley with plenty of lanes, and nice friendly helpful staff. Prices are cheaper than the Hollywood Bowl chain and the facilities are good, with video screens, neon night bowling and decent music played in. The only downside is the food..it has a Wimpy..who has a Wimpy any more? Wimpy burgers are strange and soft and I'm scared of them. So eat before you go. Other than that, a great night out for all the family with free parking. Maybe not Superbowl but certainly Fun.

While the bowling aspect of Hollywood Bowl is fine, there are a number of things that could be…read moreimproved, mainly to do with the staff. The attitudes of the servers is often at best indifferent and at worst, rude. I've worked in food service jobs before and while they might not be the most glamorous, you're being paid to be nice to people. If you don't like it, nobody is forcing you to work there. We've also had a problem with the bar before as they were serving flat coke. They changed it in a huff and wouldn't believe it was still flat when we tried it. We eventually had to give up and drink it. When you're being charged over the odds for some post-mix coke (which costs them about 20p per gallon) you at least expect some fizz in it. I think they are very used to serving people who are easily pleased.

Been to this place loads of times over the last few years…read more It's always fairly busy, especially at weekends when its a good idea to ring and book well in advance of when you want to bowl. It's easy to get to via public transport, with bus and tram stops surrounding the area. It shares the carpark with the rest of Centretainment and therefore you can struggle to park easily at busy times. The bowling part of the venue is good, with fairly up to date technology and always well stocked with different size balls. If you do end up having a problem with your lane though, it can take a while to get it resolved. Along with the bowling, theres an Arcade, bar and cafe area. These are all fairly average, but popular. It's about what you'd expect from an average bowling venue, though could do with sprucing up slightly in the toilet areas.
