Either way, it's a bit of cash for something that only a few people in a group end up being good at. At Strykers, on evenings and weekends, it's £25 per HOUR to bowl. If you have more than three people, that means you get one game and perhaps a few frames. For two people, it means 2.5 games. And that's the most economical way to do it. On "off-peak" hours (before 6pm during the week), it's still £16 for an hour -- not cheap, but not terrible -- of course, only doable if you pull a sickie at work! Strykers gets 3 stars for being the only bowling alley in this part of Staffordshire, and for having very friendly, helpful staff. But that's where the points end. Strykers is one of the most dingy, dirty, frayed-at-the-ends places I've seen. Bowling alleys in small towns can be a bit dire, but in general, they tend to be a bit more gleaming than Strykers. The decor is from the 80s, and it's all a bit cheap and cheerful, which is fine -- after all, you're there to bowl, not bathe in the glowing ambience. There is a casino/adults only area with little slot machines, a bar with beer on tap, cheap wine and spirits, and a Wimpy's/fast food area. The food is actually quite cheap, which is good, but it's fast food, as as to be expected. For the more than occasional bowler, there is a membership club, one for kids and one for adults, and that significantly knocks the price down. If you are a really keen bowler, Stryker's will knock you for ten (ha!), but if you just want a good time with mates, you may be a bit disappointed at the cost -- if you wanted to make an evening of it, expect to split £75 between a group. Or, grab a few decks of cards, some cigars and brandy and stay in!

Strkers is a large bowling alley with a 'wimpey' restaurant, soft play area and two bars. Thet do decent group booking deals and kids parties (in the soft play facility for younger kids ans bowling parties for the older ones), they also do teen nights where they have live djs and make it more of a disco. Its worth noting that for adult occasions i.e works events and such they will quote on request for a 'bowl and bite' which includes a 'meal in a basket' along with a game of bowling. Its a clean and friendly environment for kids and adults alike. Have always been more than satisfied with the service too.

Surprisingly, I'm glad I did! The venue was in all fairness a bit of a dive but I was expecting that. It was clean and there was plenty of amenities but it needs a lick of paint! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We started to bowl and I quickly became the most competitive! They have an offer on a Tuesday where any game of bowling after 7pm is £2 per person, which is a steal, and there is prizes to be won alongside lights and music. This mixed with the cheap drinks at the bar made me want to get a little turnt! The place started to fill up quickly and there was a very good atmosphere. There is food on offer alongside an arcade and pool tables. Originally it was going to receive 3 stars because of the state of the building but everything was spot on and I had a good time so it ends up getting 4. Expect no frills but a lot of fun!

The staff at Hollywood bowl were excellent and we had our own designated member of staff to help us. She took charge of the organisation and running of our kids party to help take away the stress so we could enjoy the event. They set up the game and assisted the kids with getting the right size balls etc. They even came a took some complementary photos of our son and his friends so he has a little something to remember the event. They food was fine just the usual kids fast food snacks and juice. The whole event was good value for money and very enjoyable for all of us.

It is located in Meridian leisure area, which is on the outskirts of the city and easily accessible from the M1. Hollywood Bowl is part of a larger leisure complex which also houses a large cinema and a number of well known restraunts including Franky and Benny's and Burger King. Alternatively the Bowling alley has its own fast food restraunt which offers competitive prices and quality on your standard fast-food options, burgers, nachos, etc. Car parking is never a problem here even at busy times. Bowling is never the cheapest activity but Hollywood Bowl offers good value deals if you are playing multiple games or have a large party. If your work hours allow it or you are a student, coming hear at off-peak times can save you a fortune. The lanes themselves are maintained impeccably and the equipment has always functioned as it should when I have been. It can get very busy here at weekends so sometimes it is advisable to pre-book to avoid waiting. At weekends it is open until 1 am, which is great for night owls like me. There is very little I could complain about, it basically offers everything you could want in a good bowling alley.

There is free parking in the carpark right outside and it is not far to drive into the town centre from here either.
