I was shocked to see the rating when I pulled this up but noticed people that gave bad reviews are unhappy with cash prices or their progress. Excellent care by Dr. Lucas Routh and his Physician Assistant Cole. Both are very compassionate and thorough. This is a factory. I am sure there are decent doctors there, but getting through to your visit is painful, having to endure the nightmare of scheduling. They make you jump through tons of unnecessary hoops. Ultimately I had to go elsewhere for a follow up and save my peace of mind. read more

Terrible! Do not go to the medical center location. We waited over an hour for our appt. We were early for it as well by 10 minutes. All we needed was a release note for a sport for an already healed injury and we watched person after person go back before us and be seen when we found out they had appts after us! Absolutely ridiculous. I had to take my son out of school early to make his appt and it is not okay when favoritism is played here. Don't complain because they shove you further down the line. Hip replacement and the pain is better but I have to physically pick my right leg up. It makes it hard to get in and out of my car. Physical Therapy said they could do no more. I went back to Dr Routh's assistant and he said it would take time. It's been a year and zero improvement. The last time I saw my surgeon was the morning after my surgery. They do a lot of surgeries daily and it's literally as assembly line. If I have another I will go to Huntsville. read more

Needed to have a five year old Bursa issue addressed with a new injection of cortisone. I had previous dealings with TOA so I called and was set up to meet with Dr Steinagle the next day. Completed the check-in on my mobile device and when I arrived did not have to provide any more information. Completed the x-ray and discussed with Dr Steinagle how he would treat my recurring Bursa issue. You may be afraid of cortisone shots...don't be if someone like Dr Steinagle is administering it. You will barely know it happened and feel much better after. Dr Steinagle and the staff at TOA are excellent, friendly, and really care about your well being. read more

Started with TOA urgent care for a shoulder injury. PA sent me for an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot despite having classic symptoms of a torn rotator cuff. ultrasound order was never sent which ended up with back and forth visits trying to get it handled. Follow up was 2 weeks later with Rungee. I could hear him in the hallway ranting about why I hadn't had the imaging done, and he didn't even introduce himself coming into the room before he started raising his voice at me about how he's the doctor and I'm the patient, and I need to do what he says. I went BACK to radiology and surprise surprise- the order still wasn't sent. His nurse wasn't helpful when I called back to figure out what was going on. The PA was kind but only offered the imaging and nothing for pain control. Rungee needs to retire. His bedside manner is atrocious, and I know I'm not the only one he has talked to the way he did. read more

At first take its huge waiting room with a lot going on, with a lot of people waiting.. by a lot I mean 20+ people. You walk into 7 receptionist to sign you in and get your info from you. Once checked in you are directed to wait for next steps. Those next steps occurred 30 min later. Which a nurse comes out and says we are going to imaging. Well I just had x-rays by my doctor, this is why I ended up here. Maybe my doctors mess up who knows. But I'm told the doctor may not see me without X-Rays being taken. I am not paying for more x-rays of the same thing that ended me up at the orthopedic. Seems like an expense that isn't needed. So I am directed to another waiting room in the back of the original waiting room, to wait some more till a room becomes available. But this waiting room says no cell phones. Step three I'm directed to a small room to wait for the doctor after about 8 min of waiting. So now we are about 40 min before getting to a doctors room, so I guess we wait. Tick tock Doc!! So we are 27 min. In and no sign of a doctor. On a normal day I would only invest about an hour of wait time before leaving. Because my time is important to and I can't bill for my time of waiting. But today we will wait, it's my first visit here so I want to see if the doctor can help with my situation in my knees. So we wait.... tick, Tock ... Doc.....,,,. Wonder if they forgot about me (40 min and counting) ? ....,,,,, Ok here we go after 45 min I get 5 1/2 min exam. They were able to get my X-Rays so that was a bonus. But could not give me anything else without a MRI. So I don't know how I feel at this point I spent 1.5hr waiting only to know exactly what I did when I came in. So in order to find out more I have to get an expensive MRI. I get it, this gives the entire picture but it adds to an already inflated cost. So I guess I wait to see if insurance covers the MRI or I live with the issue and discomfort. Today my review isn't going to be that great because I got no relief, still don't know what it is, or why it's happening. Only thing that happened today was sitting uncomfortably for 1.5hrs for a 5 min visit. I will update my review as I progress with this organization. read more

Worst experience ever. I would rate zero or even negative stars if I could. They are extremely EXTREMELY rude, and my family and I will never come here again. Everything they recommended care wise to my boyfriend was either a lie or a waste of time. He has been to the hospital several times for his hand that has severe bruising and swelling that is only getting worse. First, at the TOA, they prescribed him anti inflammatories to bring the swelling down and to come back if it got worse. Well it did. Second, he goes back to the ER and they requested an emergency MRI to be done so he shouldn't have anymore problems with the TOA, which the TOA refused to do because of "insurance purposes". Well, we called the insurance to see what the hold up was and they said it should be fairly immediate as soon as they contact them. Third, we're back at the TOA, and my boyfriend asked if he was getting the MRI today, and the nurse said no extremely rudely and was arguing with him when he was just asking a simple question. She then comes back in the room to ask him a question about insurance (while he was on the phone with his insurance) he responds calmly and respectfully, and she's still being extremely rude telling him he's wrong as the insurance in his ear is saying that everything this nurse is saying is a lie and insurance WILL approve it. The doctor eventually came in after this, which gave us a little hope, because she was extremely nice and helpful, she was going to give him a splint that was different than his original one to see if that could help and she was going to call his insurance just to see what could be done for him because she was also concerned by the swelling and bruising. Next thing we know, the "site manager" walks in 5 minutes later and she's immediately rude. Didn't say hello or anything, just went straight into "I hear you want an MRI" in a disapproving and sarcastic tone to which my boyfriend confirmed as that's what's been requested by the ER. She then proceeded to berate and insult him for calling the insurance. She said he was wrong and he was "required to do 6 months of physical therapy." To which his insurance has said to us several times that physical therapy and anti inflammatories are not necessary as the issue is considered an "emergency." He calmly stated that he didn't want to wait any longer and he was going to go to the ER since they said they could give him an MRI if the TOA continued to refuse. She continuously kept telling him that that was "his choice" and he kept acknowledging that and saying "i'm aware" and she never stopped. He finally asked if he could leave because he was tired of her belittling him, and she was acting like she was happy (hiding behind some odd and weird facade) and responded with, "you're more than welcome to" and swung open the door. My boyfriend literally just stood up and walked out calmly and she muttered "wow" under her breath. Again, worst experience ever. If you ever get recommended to the murfreesboro TOA on medical center. RUN AWAY. I sound dramatic but I'm warning you now. You will be charged heavily for things you don't even really need. They will "require" physical therapy just to get more money from you, even though it was never even really a requirement. Truly, I'm just extremely disappointed that anyone can run a facility this way. Not only was the nurse being rude, but EVEN THE SITE MANAGER was absurd. It's frankly just ridiculous. read more

I fell and broke my wrist. I was able to be seen as an emergency that day. Front desk staff were helpful, back office was rude and didn't want to be there. I went for my first follow-up and waited 40 minutes. I finally asked the person at the front desk how much longer did she think I would have to wait. I should add that I was the only patient in the waiting area. She had no idea, nor did she offer to find out. I walked out and took the cast off myself. I'll never go back! read more

Having had a knee replacement seven years ago, I knew that I would have to have the other one replaced eventually. I saw Dr. Routh and immediately felt very comfortable. He is very concise, to the point and answered any questions that I had. His nurse Lucy was awesome to talk with because she understood everything that would be happening and guided me step by step through the process. I had to deal with Vanderbilt Trauma for my first go-round. Not the best experience. TOA was so much more personal and caring. I highly recommend Dr. Routh and his team for knee replacement! I saw Dr. Rungee recently for some pain in my shoulder that wound up being a rotator cuff problem. He has an extremely pleasant demeanor, and I really appreciated the fact that he took his time in explaining the problem. He made copies of my x-rays and pointed out what he saw and what the implications were. He advised that I should to a round of physical therapy and go from there. I wound up doing my PT at TOA with Steve, and he was great as well. He was very thorough in explaining the exercises and by following the routine that he put together, my shoulder is not much better! The pain is gone and the range of motion is improving. TOA will definitely be where I go should I have any ortho needs in the future! read more

At my appointment at TOA eleven days ago, I was diagnosed with cervical scoliosis and disc degeneration which has been causing me much pain. The doctor prescribed a muscle relaxer and ordered physical therapy with exercises to do at home. Since then I was told before leaving the office that the prescription had been called in. Five days later, my pharmacy said they had not received any calls from TOA. Trying to talk to someone at TOA is all but impossible. I left a message on the Patient Portal and did not get a response. I tried calling and was passed off to a messaging system. I subsequently found out that the prescription finally had been called in, but was on hold by the insurance company for lack of information about why it was needed. I tried to contact TOA again and, after another run-around, told them the situation. Nothing has been done, and I still do not have my prescription nor have I been called by physical therapy to set up an appointment. I don't know what else I can do but put in a bad review. read more

I was there for shoulder injury from a fall at in March 2022 my work gives me 3 choices of doctors to pick from so I've always heard good things about TOA so I picked Dr. Rungee I wastes almost 3mths with him all he wants to do is take xrays never examine me never set in the room just stood in the door way everytime says xrays look good so I said I'm still in pain so I asked him was he gonna do MRI he said no and he wasn't doing surgery either so call my workman's comp and ask for another doctor with in 2 visit he did MRI saw how bad my shoulder was I finally had surgery on 7/8/22 I was injured on 3/14/22 so I wasted all that time and pain with Dr. Rungee he's the worst doctor I've ever had..I'll never go to TOA again!! read more

Been lied to repeatedly. staff is lazy and not doing their jobs. Which is a shame, because they have good drs. I cannot begin to thank TOA for all of the awesome work they do for Orthopedic Care in Tennessee. While I am still recovering with my recent leg injury, they have made the healing process so much easier. With small wait times and a super helpful staff, I have been made completely at ease during this difficult process. Dr. Steinhagle has been such a great doctor and every time I am in an elevator people rave about the good work and quick recovery time associated with his care. We have used one doctor at TOA, and knew him long before he became affiliated with this mega-overpriced practice. It's a shame. Same great doc. But practice and billing to patients has changed. Yes, we know. Medical costs are outrageous everywhere. But here, the costs are ridiculous...and they are not willing to show compassion for those whoa are struggling to meet their debts honestly. Patients beware. The costs are astronomical. $1,000 out-of-pocket for a leg brace. If you have an exorbitant balance, they will NOT work with you to pay it off. They will, however, offer you a bank-sponsored loan at 11% upon whatever you can afford to pay for a 12 - 60 month period through MyLoans. Do the math. You are paying interest to payoff services that are already overpriced. Our family is struggling financially due to special needs child. No compassion. Where is the "care" in that healthcare? TOA is such a huge monopoly in Murfreesboro. And these docs have two or more homes. We are trying to just stay in one. What can you do? They used to help patients pay their bills without penalty or interest. Not anymore. read more

I have just completed three weeks of therapy at TOA. My therapist, Steve Craig, was excellent. He is extremely professional and gave me confidence and now the pain in my back and down my left side is gone. I was also impressed with the whole organization there. The ladies in the front office were always helpful and efficient. My appointments were always on time. Even the persons who assisted Steve during the therapy sessions were extremely competent as well. I am very thankful for the whole experience! read more

I had plantar fasciitis surgery in September 2019 with Dr. Thompson. He did an excellent job and this review is NOT about him. It is because I prepaid to have surgery on my other foot in December 2019, but due to circumstances beyond my control I couldn't have it then. I called on 3-11-2020 and spoke with the accounting dept, and the lady (Kim I believe) assured me I would be refunded my money in 2-3 weeks. On 4-15-2020 I called back and left a message. Kim then told me to call a different number and take the number 2 prompt for refunds. I left a message there and have yet to receive a call back. I called again today, June 4, 2020 and tried to take the #2 prompt, and got a recording that said "I do not understand that request." I called back on the main number and spoke with the receptionist Autumn, who connected me to accounting. No answer. I called Autumn back and she left a message for accounting. I understand things have been slow due to Covid, but they are back at work now and there should be no reason for this. If they are returning calls, mine should have been returned weeks ago. read more

Dr. McKissick and the staff at the office are excellent. He performed surgery when I broke my leg, and he has always been very compassionate and caring. I fully believe I am able to walk so well today because of his skill and care. All of my questions are answered, and the staff and Dr. McKissick provide comprehensive information and treatment plans. First Impression are SO important, Dr. Ledbetter, did not take time with me at my appointment, he rushed to the point that he prescribed me medication, that I had showed him in the office AT time of appt. (whole bottle) that did not work and he STILL prescribed me the same, which lets me know he was NOT listening to me, I called to ask for return call and no one has return my call. After trying anti-inflammatory and pain medication for 7 - 10 days with no relief, my doctor refereed me to TOA and the meat market nightmare began! I f saw Dr. Ledbetter. I explained what had happen and the symptoms I had been having and what medications I was given and he suggested an MRI and refereed me to TOA. What I got was an x-ray of my shoulder and a different anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxers and told to come back in 7 - 10 days. cha-ching! Came back was told I had sprang my shoulder and now I was getting an x-ray on my neck and told this would not show the muscle or the nerves just the bone. I ask about doing the MRI, I was told that was considered invasive and they preferred to do the x-rays, Cha-ching! Send away again with more prescriptions and waited. Came back, the x-ray didn't show everything and now I needed an MRI! So I was went down stairs with my referral paper and scheduled the MRI. So now I have had 3 visits with the orthopedic doctor to now be refereed to the specialist. When He ask the same questions I begin to tell him what happen to me. When I tell him this happens after a night at work, he looks at my chart and tells me I have excellent private insurance that will pay and while I could prove it was work related it would be hard and I had nothing to worry about because I had insurance. Later found out by a receptionist that doctors don't like to change things from private insurance to workers comp because of all the red tape and hassle they have to go through from refunding the monies back to the insurance and waiting on comp to pay, thats nice for them, but what about the human being they swore an oath too! Screw that, they get paid! Cha-ching! So he sees me and tells me I need therapy, guess what else they offer in the building, therapy. I end up picking therapy close to home and the staff was great, no problem at all. I do the therapy and come back in 2 weeks as instructed by the doctor. I return and he explains now I am going for an epidural injection in my neck. I am told by him and the coordinator that I will be put to sleep and given instructions. I arrive (by the way its in the same building) wait an hour and a half past my scheduled time, and was told I would be under a local because this was dangerous and Dr. Ladoux would need me to tell him what I was feeling! This was a horrible experience. patients are lined up like cattle! Dr. Ladoux actually passed me up and the nurse had to tell him he was with the wrong patient. So I wait the 2 weeks and return to Dr. Shimbayama, who by the way prescribes a lower dose pain medication, which is his standard dose than I was originally taking. The only relief I got from the injection was the numbness in my thumb had gone and pain in my arm wasn't as intense as originally I had experienced. The MRI had shown I had a herniated disc that had calcified (told was about 6 months old) and another below it that was impending on the nerves in my spinal cord, which Dr. Shimbayama said my symptoms I had described were classic. So why all the other test, well, cha-ching! I explained to him that the next week after the injection the headaches had gotten worse and at first I attributed them to stress but had been waking up with them, he explained that the injection or the disc could be causing them. I told him I had taking more of the pain medication and in between doses had taken excedrin to try and get relief. He explained that with the increase in muscle weakness and the pain I was still having he recommended surgery. My husbands work requires a form to be filled out in order for him to use time if requested in an emergency. My income isn't coming in and we have a child and normal financial responsibilities that everyone else has now days. When the coordinator calls 3 days later, I explain I am waiting on this form. I call the nurse asking for refill on pain med and I had explained to Shimbayama about taking more because of headaches and pain but once the topic of surgery came up, I was narrow focused on what this meant to my situation personally and to my family. She tells me that maybe my headaches are stress related from work, I explain to her I am off work and what the doctor said. She then reads my chart and says she will ask and call me back. This is the second time in over 3 months of dealing with this that I have ever called for a refill on my medication early. When she calls back I am told that because I haven't scheduled my surgery, the doctor would not refill my meds early. I explain to her the situation with the form and I had explained it to the coordinator. Either I could see pain management or schedule surgery. I argued, not wanting pills for life! Next day was discharged for not taking meds properly. Pain med was 4 days to early! Wonder how much was due to the fact was going to turn into work comp & he needed a reason to get out?
