Tennessee Language Center did an excellent job preparing me to teach English as a Second Language. I had already taught ESL for 5 years as a volunteer and loved helping immigrants and refugees. However, I knew I needed something more to improve my skills. The in person classes taught me how to create lesson plans that were interesting and engaging. Word games, pictures, and roleplaying, in addition to structure, made learning a joy for students and teacher. Also, being certified as an ESL teacher opened the door for employment to nonprofits including TLC. I'm grateful for the numerous students from all over the globe they have brought to me. The satisfaction of equipping them to not only survive, but thrive Is extremely rewarding.
