Cue 10 years later... and I felt the familiar pain in my upper right molar. It was so painful I could only chew pitifully on the left side of my mouth. Even so, I waited several weeks, hoping it'd just be a tooth ache and go away. Finally, the pain was so awful, I ended up booking an appointment with the most expat-friendly dentist I could find. My search yielded Lassus Tandartsen. They have 2 locations: Keizersgracht and Lassusstraat. I usually go to the Keizersgracht location, but my dentist also operates from an independent location: Rietwijkerstraat. All are conveniently located and easy to get to. The facilities are modern and clean, with friendly staffers, immediately putting my mind at ease. My dentist was also mindful of my pain, providing ample anesthesia to numb my pain. She was attentive throughout the procedure, so while I had a mild ache, I had pain medication to get me through the worst of it. Currently, I'm experiencing no dental pain, able to eat/chew regularly. So happy that my teeth are back to normal and I'm able to go about my life without the daunting aches and pains. Dental cleanings are also extremely thorough, leaving my mouth sparkling and spotless. This is now my regular dentist. Here's to continued dental hygiene... and hoping I only have to visit twice a year for cleanings.

Since then I always remember being nervous going to dentists or anything related to it. But since i got my braces done here, I've had such a blast every time I visit my orthodontist. And when I needed a dental implant, I decided to book my appointment here as well. The slowly I also change my dentist to this location. They have two locations. One in Keizersgracht and it is like the Apple Store of Dentistry. Free wifi along with iPads and iMacs for the guests to use. Everyone is extremely friendly and I was talked down to like most of my experience with dentists. The other location is their original location on Lassusstraat. And it's a cozy location also with wifi minutes the iPads and iMacs. My experience here has been wonderful. I can't imagine going anywhere else for any dental care. I'm not commissioned to write this glowing review. I'm just extremely pleased with all the services they've provided. During all my treatments they always keep me informed of what to expect and what they do to my teeth. I'm one of those patients that always want to know when something is done to my body and why things are done certain ways. And they're so informative and always helpful. Seriously, I'm glad I found them. I owe my smile to them. ;-)

Each visit was worse than the last, and I truly regret ever stepping foot in this place - despite its beautiful design. On my first visit, the dentist told me I urgently needed a cleaning, even though I had one done at the same clinic just two months earlier. When I later checked with the hygienist who had performed that cleaning, she confirmed it wasn't necessary at all. Then came the extraction of my wisdom teeth by a surgeon who was incredibly rough during the procedure. The result? Four weeks of recovery due to nerve damage - something that should have been handled with much more care and precision. And finally, during what will forever be my last appointment there, the hygienist who administered anesthesia managed to irritate my mandibular nerve, causing me more pain and stress than I could've imagined. If you're wondering why I even went back after the first time, the answer is simple: each time I was treated by a different doctor, so I thought the experience might improve. On top of that, I had already paid €200 for the first consultation, during which they took all my information (and threw in some unsolicited, inaccurate comments like the cleaning recommendation). I didn't want to pay that fee all over again somewhere else -- but now I gladly will, because I'm never going back. I'm sure there are competent professionals working at Lassus, but I certainly didn't encounter any. What I did experience was a shocking lack of attention, skill, and care from three different practitioners. I strongly urge anyone considering this clinic to think twice. Your health deserves better.

I have had only good experiences here, but I have not yet had major work. I do know that everyone who works here are very professional, very friendly, not annoying and even have a sense of humor. They all speak English as well. Their website is also top-shelf, easy to make appointments too. I know this is a bit weird, but I really loved my dentists in America, so finding a good dentist here is important. The one possible downside here is you don't have that one Dentist (owner of the practice) who you see each time and have a relationship with, but perhaps this will happen after a few visits. The people at the front desk were friendly, efficient and well informed. All the people I met were friendly. The dentist performed his assessment and assailed me with what I needed done all in a highly professional concerned manner. Everyone save the people at the front desk was dressed in hospital white, very professional looking. In a relatively short time they'd already planned what needed to be done to get my teeth to the proper level of care in a timely manner. I'd definitely recommend these guys based on friendliness, appearance, efficiency and professionalism. Starting around 14:00 the dentist repaired or replaced a couple of fillings, did a root canal on one of my teeth and prepared one of my teeth for a crown with a one hour break at 16:00 to make the crown. I went back at 17:00 and by 17:30 the crown was inserted and I was done and good to go with a little swelling and some mild to be expected pain. No pain pills were required for aftermath pain. I walked home only slightly woozy but all in all good and none the worse for the wear. Impressive.
