Decent seed shop with a few different brands of seeds available. Nice enough staff. Not really the most knowledgeable but helpful.

My visit to Sensi Seed could be the plot for the next Harold & Kumar movie. First of all, they're in the Red Light district and steps away from the College of Amsterdam. How do they expect college kids to get any work done that way? The guy that runs this shop is a real character. Not only does he have the longest dreads I've ever seen, but he must have a PhD in botany. He knows everything there is to know about growing...well, you know. He's got it down to a science. And although his seeds are pricey, they are award-winning so you're getting the best. If you need a quick intro, this is the place to go. The store is empty so he's got nothing but time to school you. In fact, he probably welcomes the company. read more

After doing numerous searches trying to relocate this coffee shop in Amsterdam...I'm convinced that this is the coffee shop location, that I loved while I was there...Upstairs was a room that had tables on the ground and plushy pretty pillows everywhere...which I remembered it called the Sensi Room. We found this place by just exploring through the city and visiting the lower level of the shop. What a bummer it looks like they now only sell seeds for growing, but will let u smoke your own...Back then they had laminated style menus, not a lit up box like other coffee shops. Was a really chill atmosphere. Would still love to visit when returning to Amsterdam. read more

In 2010, Sensi Seeds celebrated its 25th anniversary. All branches of the company are founded on the same ethic: it's not just about Sensi Seeds, it's about the plant.

Meet the Business Owner: Ben D.

Ben Dronkers is the founder of the Sensi Seed Bank, HempFlax, and the Hash Marihuana & Hemp Museum. As a young man in the late 1960s, Ben Dronkers worked on merchant ships which sailed from his native Rotterdam to various exotic locations. This was the beginning of Ben's lifelong passion for travel. Later, when he decided to try his hand at designing and creating distinctive clothing for his own shop he travelled to Turkey, Afghanistan, and Pakistan to buy fabrics and discovered the advantages of hemp fibre. He also bought cannabis in these countries. He relates with a smile, "I asked the farmers about cannabis plants and they laughed rather secretively. One of them gave me a handful of cannabis seeds as a gift and told me the seeds were very important. Naturally, this inspired me to preserve them, to learn about the qualities of seeds from different regions, and to collect more."

This staff at this seed bank was VERY helpful in helping me find a "Coffeeshop" about 300 m down the street called "Barney's", to find ACTUAL cannabis.

They dont sell any smokeable produce in here unless you like to smoke seeds ; ) ..but this little seating area is a hidden gem.. Quite often the stairs are chained off.. Maybe this is due to the fact that the smokers never want to leave.. Probably the most comfortable coffeshop in Dam..
