They were raving about the tour as they had done one of the tours (different options offered on different days) and they raved about it. They had a different guide, we had Viktor. He was amazing. The tours we took, which were closer to town, all amazing. Our group was a mix of Engish speaking, but also from other countries (a German living in the UK, a Belgian, Canadian and two other couples from the US). We started at Vinca Bandini. What an amazing estate. This was my first experience with Argentinian waters that came from the mountains. Here, water from the Andes were channeled into the Estate. It was also the the first place I saw a parilla. It was a fancy one compared to others I would encounter but since I love grilling over open fire, I was stoked. We did a small tour on golf carts before we started sampling. Our next stop was Bodega Casarena y Vinedos, another amazing place where we drank malbec's and cab's. After that it was time for lunch and we went to Terrazas de los Andes. I've posted the menu along with the four different wines we enjoyed and which they would refill if we found one we enjoy over the other. It was at this location too where I walked around as we waited for lunch and I had a chance to observe workers bringing in giant bins of grapes that would soon become the good stuff. Our final destination was Bodega Alta Vista. This wasn't so much of a tour, but an explanation and a tasting. This room was all class. Glass table top with spitting bowls/sink next to each seat. Honestly, I think any of the tours you take you are going to enjoy it. If you Google map any of these places, you will see that there are other vineyards close by. They are EVERYWHERE. The beauty of this company though is that you they come pick you up (we were at an AirBnB and then drop you off. It was that easy.

It was described as a small group activity which it was . Just two other couples joined us. Our first stop was a certified organic producer that was welcoming. After a tour of the facility, we tasted 3 different varietals. One a Merlot, the second a cab franc and the third a delicious Malbec. Excellent descriptions and tasting. The second stop was a delightful small producer and an enjoyable chat with the winemaker in what felt like going to grandmas house. Here we sampled 4 different wines along with a snack of flatbread. These were outstanding for such a small vineyard. Here we bought 2 bottles. Our last stop was an elegant property for our 8 course lunch with wine pairings. Yes 8 courses. Suggestion, go slow or you'll never make it though the meal. All along, Flo helped guide us through all of the tastings and made sure, everything was good with us. I'll attach some photos to give you an idea of our tour. I must say, this was one of the best if not the best wine tour we've ever been on. I hope that says a lot since we live in Northern California and have extensive experience with the wine industry. A few notes...this is an all day tour. We left the hotel at 8:45 and arrived back at 7:00 pm. Flor speaks great English as well as Spanish. No difficulty in communication. Our driver was also very good with our safety in mind always. The prices are higher than most but they do age their beef. These people are vertical - they grow their own cattle, the bottle their own wine and they have a restaurant. So you know that they are controlling their costs very well. All that being said the staff was very friendly, the bread basket, olive oil and balsamic brought out at the beginning were very tasty with three different types of bread. They offer 2, 3 and 6 course tasting menus. Some of the items were not the most expensive or nicest so we decided to go a la carte. We started with the salmon ceviche and the beef carpaccio. Both were excellent. The salmon was tender with very bright acidity and large leaves of frisée. The carpaccio was the most tender I have ever had in my life. The beef had very good flavor, it had nice large shards of grana padano, a couple of very large leaves of arugula which perfectly balanced the yogurt dressing and the aged balsamic drizzle around the plate. For our entrées we had a 450 g ribeye - ojo de bife- which was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. It was a little strange because it was bone in on two sides and we have not seen that before in the US. We also had the skirt steak with smashed potatoes. Potatoes had a crispy skin and creamy texture in the center. The skirt steak had to be close to 12 or 14 ounces of skirt steak folded over itself like a snake on the plate. It was cooked perfectly to medium/medium rare and had good flavor. On the table they have three different kinds of coarse salts. One looked like a pink Himalayan salt, the other one looked like a Hawaiian black salt, regular course table salt and then coarse ground black pepper.

One of the employees asked if I wanted to join an English tour 30 minutes later than the one I scheduled, and I said yes. She offered me a malbec rosé to enjoy in the shop or at a table by the lake. I chose to sit outside and found it to be a beautiful place to enjoy my book and wine. The rosé happened to be the best wine of the five that I tried during my visit. The tour itself shares the beautiful history of how the winery was founded, lost, and bought back by the founders granddaughter, who will pass it down to her children. The guide showed us the cellar, original tanks, and a small exhibition. She also explained the wine making process from when the winery first opened. It was definitely the best tour I had in Mendoza. The tasting was saved for the end and was set up nicely. Everyone had a plate of amuse-bouche to be paired with each wine, and they easily accommodated me with a vegetarian selection. The guide took her time to explain each wine, the proper way to taste, and what foods to pair. She was also patient in answering everyone's questions. We tasted one white and three red wines, I felt the reds we tasted were much too dry but did enjoy the white wine. It was a lovely chardonnay that wasn't aged in oak, so it didn't have that smokey flavor. The total experience was five stars! I really loved my visit, but I am taking a star off because I didn't find all the wines to be of the best quality.

We then when into a room with a ton of barrels and a piano in the center. That piano produced beautiful sound and the room had awesome acoustics. They said that in the summer they have concerts only for about 300 people. But lets be real, we were there for one thing... the wine. It definitely did not disappoint! We even bought 6 bottles to take home with us. Martina was awesome... we talked about things from wine to cultures to the TV show Friends! We told Martina that we were on our honeymoon and she surprised us with an extra taste of wine! We really enjoyed our tour and we even got to know our other tour mates. She also showed us the owners private cellar- impressive. We ended with a tasting of five wonderful wines starting with sparkling and ending with the Cabernet Sauvignon. My ONLY complaint is the tasting room high top chairs were made of steel and glass and terribly uncomfortable. They have a beautiful patio area that you can enjoy some majestic views of the vineyards and the Andes mountains. I do not know the pricing of the tasting as everything is handled by our Tour company and prepaid in advance, but I was told it's around $10 USD a tasting.

This was our 30th anniversary dinner & a top five best dining experience we have ever had. I will not do this place justice by trying to describe the service, vibe and meal but here goes.... The feast was seven course paired with wine exclusively from their vineyards. The restaurant is owned by a French gentleman and is clearly a labor of love. This is the rare place that inspires. He owner provides a unique experience with elements of French and Argentinian cuisine. During our meal, we ate in the French dining room and then transitioned into the Argentinian dining room for the main course of steak and vegetables. The view from both dining rooms was spectacular with the vineyards in the foreground and snow covered Andes off in the distant. We had two excellent servers and the chef who would come out during certain parts of the meal. The scallops to start were from the Argentina coast and spectacular. The vegan empanada was . The fillet paired with a beautiful vegetable presentation literally melted in our mouth. The dessert was a French Argentinian expression of love. When the meal finally came to an end, we were comfortably full and enjoying the love from the wine. This was truly an amazing experience and now I understand why restaurant was booked for three days and luckily had availability our last day in country. It was worth the wait.

Any tour may cost you lots of money. Well here they do it for free and with a smile. The wine is pretty good. The food is good too. We went in a Sunday. Be aware many bodegas and tours don't work or operate sundays in Maipu. We took a train from Mendoza to Maipu and just walk from the train station to the bodega. Is pretty close. You can rent a bike... when we went the bike rental site was closed --_-- However, we discover that we didn't need to spend $200-400 dollars to get to experience some good wine and bodegas. Check my other reviews and you will see that we explore the bodegas without spending hundreds of dollars. For me Bodegas Lopez was a first great experience.

Mendoza was our first stop in the country and the Wine tour that Ampora took us on was an amazing way to start! First off our tour host, Belen, was absolutely terrific. She was Informative, knowledgeable, charming and funny - could not have asked for anyone better. Our group was in total 7 people which was ideal. This made our interactions with our guide and the bodega hosts more intimate. Our tour on a rainy Saturday was of the Uco Valley. It was a long drive out (90 minutes each way) there but it was a great way to see a different side of Argentina than just cities. The tour does start early (8:30) and takes all day (6:30 return). The tour van is very comfortable though. There were 3 vineyards (Bodegas) we visited along the way with the final stop also including a gourmet lunch. Bouquet, Solo Contigo and O'Fournier. All 3 bodegas were beautiful. The surprise was the quite modern design of each place. Beautiful. The wines were wonderful and captured the local terroir quite nicely. At the first two stops, the bodegas had set up a beautiful table for us to taste at. It made it so much better than bellying up to a bar. At the last stop, the gourmet lunch was flat out fantastic. 4 courses with a finale of Osso bucco that was fantastic. Finally, we got to tour the O'Fournier barrel room. It had, in years past, won architectural design awards. Once there you can see why. Truly a 5 star adventure!
