Stopped by here on our way out of town for a quick treat. I didn't get a chance to experience sandwich side of the eatery, but did check out the menu featuring some great sounding sandwiches and paninis. They also served some different varieties of hot chocolate that left me itching to try some. We got ice cream this trip, and the prices were fair doer cones or bowls, sundaes, freezes, and milkshakes. Although the selection was Dreyers and I was hoping for something house-made, it was still good. The space was large and sprinkled about where local made accessories, and home goods. They also had a small stand for Jelly Belly products and popcorn. This is Lovelock's only place to grab dessert it seems, so lack of choices make this stop your best bet. read more

This little cafe goes by the terms of "quality of quantity." The 3 main things here are coffee, ice cream, and alcohol. i'm not an alcoholic, so I don't know about it. but the coffee and ice cream are the best things to ever come across. read more

Great coffee, friendly staff wrapped in a unique atmosphere. Wrapping up our day for some contract work in the area we found this gem of a local cafe/ice cream shop that even has a full selection of beer. We were just in it for the coffee to power up for the drive back into Reno but we could have just as easily succumbed to the jelly beans, assorted candies, and/or chocolate creations. Donna made our iced drinks and gave us a local history lesson on the events and happenings all around the town and origins on how Temptations came into being. A very informative and pleasant experience. Customers are definitely valued here. The large central space with comfortable couches and tables can accommodate gatherings both large and intimate. There are murals on mostly every wall which the staff are glad to converse about. A highly recommended stop to get acquainted with the local side of Lovelock. read more

Nice place to get ice cream. All Dreyers but great spot to stop with the family while traveling. They have nice cafe inside which we didn't check out since we were on the move. My wife and I were craving ice cream and found Temptations. They served Dreyers, a brand we don't really like. But the ambiance and the service in this sunny, multifaceted venue made up for the so-so ness of the ice cream. The bar is closed during the pandemic, but they also sell odds and ends (coffees, alfalfa honey, patriotic gear) sufficient to keep you busy while lapping up the ice cream. Please stop by! read more

My friend and I stopped off in Lovelock yesterday evening and wandered around to find a place for dinner. Temptations looked appealingly friendly, and from outside on the sidewalk, I was enticed by part of the menu that was helpfully posted up on the wall above the counter. When I ordered the items that had enticed me inside, I was informed that the menu up on the wall was way out of date (more than 6 months at the very least) and in no way reflected reality. So I had to make do with ordering from the current menu, although I did not find its offerings as appealing as what I had thought I would be eating. No big deal. After my friend and I ordered from the "real" menu, I indicated in friendly fashion to the young lady behind the counter that the restaurant should consider updating or taking down the inaccurate menu on the wall. After all, what I had read on that ancient menu had been part of what got me in the door, and so it was a disappointment to me when I learned that those items had long been unavailable. She agreed with me, but said that the stuff posted on the wall was unfortunately updated very infrequently (never?). I suggested (again, in friendly fashion, I swear!) that perhaps the outdated menu panels could at least be covered up with paper or something to avoid misleading people walking by. That was when things turned prickly, or more accurately, downright balls nasty. Before the nice young lady behind the counter could respond to me, another woman in the joint walked over and indicated to me in no uncertain terms that they had no intention of changing the menus up on the wall, and by god, they weren't about to cover up any out-of-date ones, either. And if we had a problem with their menu, then perhaps my friend and I should think about eating elsewhere? She was extremely confrontational in a way that shocked me, as I had genuinely been quite pleasant in my interactions with the young lady behind the counter. My friend, too, was shocked by this woman's demeanor, and his eyes betrayed his shock. Yet another woman present saw my friend's eyes roll and/or open wide, and she informed him that the confrontational woman was the owner of the establishment, and she could and would do as she pleased. I apologized to the nasty woman (carefully refraining from calling her "nasty" or any other pejorative term) and politely told her that my friend and I were just there to eat dinner, that we were looking forward to getting our food, and that we had no interest at all in causing trouble of any sort. This speech was very poorly received, and the nasty woman reiterated her nasty thoughts, increasingly menacingly, berating me for harassing her employee, and again inviting my friend and me to leave the premises. After he and I engaged in a brief conference, we decided that that was in fact an increasingly fine idea, so we left. We mentioned our surreal Temptations experience at the nearby restaurant where we ended up eating, and one of the customers there indicated that the proprietor of Temptations is in fact crazy. I can only agree! I am stunned to see the other reviews of Temptations talking about how swell it is and how friendly the owner is. I would suggest in no uncertain terms steering well clear of this place! My friend and I both live in rural Nevada, and we get along with "normal" locals perfectly happily, but this woman was a piece of work. There was a friendly sandwich board outside Temptations talking about how important it was for folks to frequent local establishments instead of just chain stores and restaurants, but I can tell you that Temptations is one local establishment that I will never visit again! My advice to people who don't live in Lovelock is to stay far, far away from this joint and its insane proprietor. read more
