Crosbys bar is attached and gets very busy but there are hot food and snacks available to purchase in the complex. Good sized arena and it was good to see The Coventry Blaze play in their home town. It's a really safe place for young children with a large soft play area with soft slides and climbing frames. There's also a small separate bit at the end of the main soft play where younger, smaller or less confident children can play on a smaller scale soft play area. They have some outdoor activity but that is only open during good weather. It's is just over £2 for an hour and a half and is open day times until 4pm. The price is per child. Refreshments are available at a reasonable price although there is only a fairly small selection. They serve hot drinks, cold drinks and cold snacks. You have to give the name of each child as you go in and out. There is only one way out so you know your kids are safe because you can see them. It is suitable for children from toddlers to around age 12.

I have a fondness for Abbey Park even though I don't get to go very often. My parents used to take…read moreme here alot when we were kids. Abbey Park is a mostly walled park first opened to the public in 1882. The river Soar flows through the park and is full of life - ducks, swans etc. The ruins of Cavendish House can be seen which burnt down in the 1600s. Activities for families - so much space for games, football, cricket etc. There is a large play area for kids of all ages which includes a large paddling pool(which was dry last time I went). There is a small gauge railway there and you can have a ride on the back of one for not much money. There is also a small petting zoo including rabbits, goats and an aviary. Abbey Park has very extensive grounds and you can spend a good deal time here whatever the weather. It's close to the city centre and also B&Q Depot and an ideal place to swing into for a quick trip or a long afternoon walk. There are two car parks as I remember- one is free and one is a council run and therefore expensive money-making pay and display.

The two young men running it were welcoming, professional and did all they could to make it an enjoyable event. The woods are very well managed and retain the right balance of managed and wild areas. This is a mature forest,with a large variety of native trees, woodland plants and wildlife. We never fail to go when the bluebells are flowering as they cover the undergrowth in a rich deep carpet. It truly is a superb sight. It is a wonderful place to go and unwind, sit quietly on a bench, watch and listen to the birds. Children of all ages love exploring and will also like the play area. Adults are sometimes spotted on the rope and tyre swings. The terrain is hilly in most places, but nothing too challenging. There are several options of walks and paths to follow, including the easy path, which is handy for weelchairs and pushchairs. This path in particular will take you on the more scenic part of the park. On a clear day you can see the steam rising from the power station in Burton-on-Trent. There are a few picnic tables and it makes for a lovely day out when the weather is nice. Few people realise how beautiful the woods can be when it is raining, as long as you are well covered! Parking is cheap £1.50 a day, we buy the season ticket and come on the drop of a hat.

It has lot's of facilities; rather good childrens play area, pitch and…read moreputt golf, orienteering course, stream, soon to be outdoor gym, flower beds that kids like to play hide and seek round, a nature wood that's sometimes open and mixed terrain for dog walkers. There's a carpark and often an ice cream van. You don't get any of the issues of Western Park (never been nearly run over by a motor bike here) and it's not as big. Some of the flower beds could do with abit of weeding but all in all a lovely park, go and take advantage, it's free (except the golf)
