my girlfriend bought me this as a present from buyagift.com and unfortunately it was rubbish and i'm pretty sure she will of paid £70...
the title - "Rally car driving thrill"
the agenda word for word on my gift certificate says:
"You will begin with a welcome, introduction and briefing on rally techniques, followed by a demonstration with an instructor driving the Subaru WRX rally car on tarmac stage. Then you will get behind the wheel of the Subaru WRX rally car on tarmac stage, followed by the group N rally car on loose gravel stage. At the end of the experience you will receive an individual driving certificate. This experience lasts approximately 45minutes."
in reality this is what happened.
1. - there was no briefing or introduction to rally techniques.
2. - they put me in a LEFT HAND DRIVE!!! mitsubishi evo IV, not a Subaru (i think it was evo IV, a very old one anyway!).
3. - instructor said we don't do briefing etc anymore to give you more time around the track, which sounds fair enough...?
4. - i struggled around a tarmac track dodging cones in a LEFT HAND DRIVE CAR!!! i defo would have been quicker in a 1.4L RIGHT HAND DRIVE Nissan Micra!
5. - by the time i figured out how to change gear properly it was all over in about 6 laps time.
6. - the instructor did shout instructions, left, right, speed up and slow down, but the words rally techniques would be very far fetched
7. - i sat around waiting to be called up for group N (was a VW polo) on the gravel track.
8. - i was informed that because i was out for longer than normal in the EVO, and that most people prefer this way i would not be driving the group N cars... (are they mad?)
9. - i argued with my gift paperwork in hand that what i've done is completely different and wrong... but they were very stubbon and sent me home and said i need to take it up with buyagift.com because they (everyman racing) it would appear can do what they like.
10. - massive waste of time, i drove from guildford to leicester and back two hours each way!
my girlfriend and i were very upset that they could argue that they had provided what they were supposed to... but in black and white on paper in my hand the adgenda of the gift was not forfilled at all... i had done nothing on my adgenda? WTF?
this review makes up the basis of a letter of complaint that i/we have sent to buyagift.com and everyman racing i hope my girlfriend gets her money back as a minimum, with a bit of luck they may even give me a tank of petrol that i wasted on my journey... unlikely?
many thanks for reading,
