Was tough to move and having a 4 hour drive home the next day, thought I would see if I might get some relief with a visit to a local chiropractor. He spent a good 30-40 minutes with me on the evaluation, chropratic adjustment and discussing some follow up stretches/ exercises. He knew I was on vacation and wasn't necessarily going to be back anytime soon yet he treated me like a regular. His pricing was also very reasonable! Since late May, I have been hospitalized three times: first at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport,…read moreCT, then at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT, and now at Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, New Hampshire. I was admitted this morning after an ambulance transport to their ER. I was initially surprised by their three-star rating and couldn't understand the reason. This is my second encounter with this Claremont hospital. Several years ago, I visited their ER due to a kidney stone; their care was outstanding, and I vowed to return if needed. Yesterday, I was treated for a hematoma in my left thigh on the ER floor, similar to treatment I previously received at the VA hospital in White River Junction. As my condition worsened, I was transported by ambulance to the nearest ER, which turned out to be here at Valley Regional--the staff were professional, attentive, and compassionate. In particular, Jeffrey, the paramedic on duty, provided remarkable care, exemplifying excellent emergency services. After tests, I was admitted this morning and met Kathy, the floor nurse, to be equally genuine, a true empathy with the perfect bedside manner personality, and skill level that made my stay exceptional. Not all the hospital beds I've had to sleep in over the past two months have been this comfortable. This room and VRH was private and calming. I'm not sure how people aren't experiencing the same relief I am, as everyone here has been exceptional.

Tracy at the operators' desk wouldn't make me an appt and had that worst bedside manner. She wouldn't even let me talk to my former doctor's office! I asked to speak with her collègue instead as I found her extremely unprofessional. So unprofessional in fact-- she hung up on me! Rude! This hospital panders for handouts and donations from the community. We have donated to the Hospital Fair Day most years - I've been a patient for 38 years but suddenly I'm not a patient anymore-- guess I won't be donating anymore either ‍

They shut us out because my father had too many daughters. I do have to give a special shoutout to Shyla who advocated for him and was so amazingly kind. The doctors were incongruent week after week. His pain was dismissed. He lost almost 20 pounds in the first week and recorded as lost at the previous hospital, which was completely untrue. By the time he left he was not eating. They blamed everything on the patient and did little investigating. The nurse Christine should retire or find a new profession. While most of the staff was dismissive, she was downright mean. I found him asleep with his face in his dinner tray. He was afraid to drink because the staff never showed up in time to get him to the bathroom. Issues were reported to nursing staff but never relayed to the doctors. After several weeks of "rehab and care" my father died, still unable to move much or eat at all less than 2 months after discharge. If this is the best we can offer, healthcare is truly an abomination.
