The tram moved at a nice pace so you could really take in everything. So much to see - everywhere. It was a really fun way to spend a few hours on a rainy day! But I urge you to visit rain or shine!

With scenic walking trails, an outdoor classroom, day camps and a small indoor animal habitat, Briar Bush is a great spot for small children, couples on a date, or anyone looking for a brief respite from the urgency of the modern world. With free admission for locals and a small fee for out-of-towners, the preserve is accessible to all patrons provided that they are able to walk down some wooded trails that circle through the admittedly short walking routes. The centerpiece of the trails is a picturesque, secluded pond with benches for sitting and an interactive sign with information on the local fauna and flora. The indoor animal habitat has a small gift shop, pamphlets on upcoming events and information on other parks in the area, and several interesting animals such as a blind possum named Odin, a bearded lizard named Karl, and several other unique turtles and reptiles. All of Briar Bush can be walked through in an hour or so, but the low admission, interactive nature events and scenic walking trails will have you wanting to return again soon.

It's not unusual to see artists, classes, and families at Morris. Despite this, it never feels crowded. We love Morris so much that we joined their membership program a few years back; it's a membership that we keep active. The community programming is a nice add, and we've even picnicked here once. We appreciate the nods to the community (e.g., the scaled down Chestnut Hill West SEPTA stop), and the areas of Morris that speak to all members of the family. We'll definitely be back.

When we arrived at the gate, we showed the email receipt and then were allowed to drive up to the welcome center and a small parking lot onsite. We arrived just in time for the tour that they give at 1pm every day. The tour is customized to the attendees. Our tour guide was Janet. She was great and we learned so much. I would recommend the tour if it's your first time visiting. Unfortunately, the Out on a Limb tree adventure exhibit was closed to the public on the day we visited. But we'll probably be back again later this year because we really enjoyed our time there.

About the only issue I had was I wish the owner took a picture of me with the three magicians from the act. I know he was busy handing out flyers but he took a picture for the previous group with the magicians. He just said to me, "Get someone else to take the picture." One of the three magicians took a picture of me with the other two magicians, but it would've been nice to get all three in the picture with me. I'm pushing 60 (and I paid extra to get a front row seat), so photo memories like this would be nice.

There were over 60 nativity displays, and about 34 of them are from different countries around the world! It's wonderful to get a house tour here too! Just months before Robert's death he married his housekeeper, Mary Ann Reed. Robert left her Burholme, with stipulations stating the estate (Burholme), be turned over to the city to be used as a park, museum, and library. After Robert's death, Mary Ann remarried, continued to travel and collect items, from around the world. The museum is free and open Friday - Sunday. This isn't the average museum. It's less pictures and more, statues, trinkets, artifacts, books, and so on. Throughout the collection you see the traveller; the passion for collecting is evident. The eclectic collection makes you wonder about life in the past, their friends abroad, and their legacy to allow us into their world of wonder.

It's really worked well on me I need to go everywhere, even to places I've already been now that I know there's a passport for it! I wish every place had a stamp it's a shame only some of the gardens do, but Meadowbrook does have a stamp so there's another positive!

Before going home I sat on the verandah, imagining what it must have been like to live there. The museum is dedicated to the art of Philadelphia. I was captivated by local artists I never before heard of. One of my favorites is Edith Neff. (See the swimming pool painting I posted.) The photography exhibit with works by Harvey Finkle, captured the humanity of political and social justice movements. It resonated with me. And then there's the children's gallery. The current exhibit, "Walk in the Rainforest" was created by young artists, and runs through October 27th. The museum is relatively small. Take in the architecture and the beautiful chandeliers, which I guess are original to the house. Docent-led tours are available and the museum hosts "Friday Night Jazz," with tickets available on line.

We got here on a nice sunny day and there was plenty of parking on site. Inside, there's some twist and turns and cool exhibits in each direction. It's a small museum that you can definitely spend a few hours in. We got here when one of the visiting artists was giving a presentation - so cool! His works were on display in the main gallery and it was great to hear his story and also chat about his work. Definitely worth the hike out of the city for a little art and culture within the woods!
