Camelot Home Inspection Services - Martin Hewitt, Certified ASHI Inspector #202935

    Camelot Home Inspection Services

Martin is, with a doubt, the gold standard of home inspectors…read more As first time home buyers, my husband and I weren't sure what to expect when showing up to our first home inspection but upon meeting Martin, we knew we were in good hands. He arrived on time, explained his inspection process and let us know that if we had any questions, no matter how small, that he would be more than happy to answer them. He was charismatic in a way that felt like we were catching up with a long time, trusted friend and presented himself with an assuredness that instantly calmed our anxieties about the process. Most importantly, he showed a genuine enthusiasm about inspecting our potential home that can only come from someone who really loves and takes pride in what they do. He was meticulous in looking over every aspect of the house and called attention to issues he thought were important for us to know during the inspection so that there weren't't any surprises at the end. Explanations always included what the issue was, why he thought it needed to be fixed or how it could be a problem in the future. Aspects of the home that were technically safe and appropriate for when the house was built but not up to modern building code were also brought to our attention. Despite having to point out the issues, Martin was also thrilled to show us unique aspects of the home or share what he thought were positives about the property. At certain points, it felt like he was more excited about the property than we were! After the inspection, we felt confident that we knew the condition of the home, what issues would need to be addressed further and educated about the general maintenance we should expect to do as new homeowners. We received the inspection report within 24 hours and as Martin promised, there wasn't anything in it that felt like a surprise to us or that hadn't already been discussed. It was well organized, extremely detailed and a great reference to show other contractors exactly what issues we would like to have checked out further. He was available if we had questions or needed an experienced eye to review a concern we were having about other reports. Overall, Martin was an essential part of our home buying process and a key factor in helping us make the right decision. He was a knowledgeable and insightful guide that we felt was always looking out for our best interest. We trusted that when we asked him "should we run?" at the end of our inspection, he giving us his honest answer and that type of integrity is why Martin will be our first call if we ever buy a new home in the future.

Very experienced and thorough inspector. Took the time to explain everything clearly and was easy…read moreto talk to. Was flexible with our request for scheduling. Transparent pricing structure.

We had him inspect a 25 year old home . When the inspection report came out to be only a few things…read morefound we thought we found a great house . Turns out Dylan did not note the small things like paint discrepancies, cracked shower grout , arching around the do diy outlets . All of the smaller components he says were not in his inspection and they have all caused thousands dollars worth of damages . The paint discrepancies when evaluated have all been soft spots that were newly painted over and are hiding leaks and black mold . The cracked grout of course caused leaks and mold . When we contacted Dylan he very nicely said that when he does a home inspection he focuses on the bigger stuff and sometimes the smaller stuff can get missed. Well those smaller things were indicators of very large things . Well we wish he would have evaluated those paint discrepancies. All the windows have extreme soft spots and cracks that were painted over . He was polite when we asked him about the things that were not reported but all in all he basically said it was an us problem and not a him problem .

Dylan is such a professional in every sense of the word. He was able to schedule our inspection on…read morefairly short notice. His reports are very detailed and he took the time to verbally walk us through everything as well as providing the written report. Plus he has the best technology to really see everything that might be hidden from plain sight. You cannot do better than Harper Homes and Dylan.
