I have been coming to Jerry's since last century and the service is constantly good. Inside has the typical old school liquor store vibe, and drive thru is great when you don't want to get out of you vehicle. Praise be to those employees who choose to work those days- I've had to go by and pick up some things on some holidays. It's not the nicest place per sé, but they have a good selection and don't over-charge. They could, but don't. Their employees have a pretty good knowledge of booze/suggestions, but if you want expert knowledge, go down the street to Top's. Normally I utilize them if I'm on my way to a party and not terribly sure what to bring and I don't feel like getting out of my car. I don't give them the full 5 stars because during one drive thru trip, some idiots ran out and stole cheap vodka. I feel sorry for the employee whom it happened to- it was during a shift change and she was momentarily by herself and trying to help me out at the same time. Kinda threw me for a loop that the store would only have 1 employee on-hand during a weekend.

A weary traveler arrives and sits down at his favorite bar--Bottleshop48, located at 3318 S McClintock Dr, Tempe, AZ 85282, in the Aldi shopping center. He orders a crisp glass of Bottleshop Water, known to the regulars simply as "water," and rests for a moment as a film begins to play on the main TV. Brad and Angelina appear. It is Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the acclaimed 2005 action/comedy. A small tear rolls down his face; finally, he will be able to enjoy Mr. and Mrs. Smith from start to finish. Finally, his life will have meaning beyond the crude dionysian pursuit of wine, women, and song. Today, he thinks: "my suffering will end: I am free from the banality of the world outside, with a full 2 hours of action/comedy to enjoy, cold drink in hand, hale companions to my left and to my right." But this man was mistaken. Instead a challenger appears--a man from the wrong side of the tracks, a man bent on ruining our hero's uninterrupted viewing of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Shockingly this newcomer requests the TV remote. He brazenly downloads the Sling Freestream app on the TV. He scrolls through the Sling Freestream app's numerous free ad-supported options and chooses--impossibly--Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the 1975 comedic send-up of the grim circumstances of the Middle Ages as told through the story of King Arthur and framed by a modern-day murder investigation. Our hero protests meekly, in earnest: "but I was watching Mr. and Mrs. Smith." "Oh sorry," the upstart pretender responds, surprised that someone would be so interested in seeing the end of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Does our hero challenge this cruel usurper to fisticuffs for the TV remote? No. Does he chuck a beer at this sadistic lover of classic British humor? No. Does he strip naked and dance atop the bar in a lewd manner to assert his dominance over the TV? He does not. A man of peace--a true lover not a fighter and a known Ryan Gosling look-alike--our hero grits his teeth and accepts the excruciating truth that he will see no more of Brad and Angelina on this night. He simply pays his tab and exits into the freezing late April air, never to know true happiness. Never to experience complete extasy. Never to see the end of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Variety is a 10/10, liquor, ciders, wine, swag, bar accessories, etc. After several samples I knew I needed food, we headed to their patio and ordered pizza. I had the mushroom with light cheese. It came out fast and was very good, the bite on that crust was perfect, the ingredients tasted fresh. My friends had the margarita pizza and they said there's was also delicious, some of the best pizza they've had. They had games on the patio and plenty of seating. The weather and full moon last night made it a perfect evening! (We did hit two other Trevor's right after.. gotta take advantage when you have a DD .. cheers!! )

However, the service from our waitress was very disappointing. My husband, grandson, and I were dining, and since we had our grandson with us it was getting late. When she brought the bill, we tried to hand her our payment method, but she completely ignored us and walked away. It wasn't busy enough to excuse that, and she never acknowledged our request. Again, the food was great as usual, but the customer service tonight was very disappointing.

I barely recognized the place! But I kept driving around and got a little more oriented as I went along. I used to go to a Jo-Ann's or Michael's in the center but I can't remember which because I didn't see either and I know Joanne's has closed. Anyway as I was exploring, I saw the Total wine store and having had good experience with the one in San diego, I decided to stop by and see if they had Greek Retsina which is hard to find. They didn't have it and it was a dollar more than I had paid in San Diego but I think I got us sale price there. I remember years ago I used to be able to buy a gallon of it at a local Greek market for $5 but those days are gone. It was $12 for the one here so I bought it as a treat. The store was extremely neat and well laid out and a couple of employees I encountered were very helpful. I asked about lavender syrup and they had that. I asked about Ginger beer, the alcoholic kind, and they had that I happened on to a reasonably priced bottle of sangria so I got that and I've been out of beer forever so when I saw they had PBR for $10 or 12 pack I decided to go ahead and get it. In fact, I can't think of anything that I asked about that they didn't have. I considered it a successful trip.

That said, I'm giving 3 stars due to a recent disappointing delivery experience. I had guests arriving today and, with a busy schedule, I placed a $146 delivery order for the 7-8 PM window. When it arrived (after dark), I set the box aside on the patio and didn't open it until today while stocking the cooler. Unfortunately, the box was damaged, it smelled like alcohol, and three cans were completely empty. You could clearly see the leak, and it was obvious something had spilled. It's frustrating that this was still sent out for delivery--especially from a store I frequent and usually trust. This was meant to be a time-saving convenience, but it ended up being a letdown. At this point, I wouldn't recommend the delivery option--there's no way to know if you'll receive damaged or unusable products.
