This dang school charges $10 for a freshman wrestling meet. What the heck? What a rip off.

For over a decade, our children have been part of the SJDLS community, and it has been an…read moreextraordinary journey. From the moment we stepped through those school gates, we knew we had found something truly special. Dedicated Teachers and Staff The heart of any great school lies in its educators, and SJDLS boasts an exceptional team of teachers and staff. Their commitment to nurturing young minds goes beyond the classroom. They inspire, challenge, and guide our children, fostering not only academic growth but also character development. We've witnessed firsthand the tireless efforts they put into creating a positive and supportive learning environment. Academic Excellence At SJDLS, excellence is the standard. Our children have thrived academically, thanks to the rigorous curriculum and personalized attention they receive. The teachers tailor their teaching methods to suit each student's learning style, ensuring that no child is left behind. As parents, we appreciate the emphasis on critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills--the very qualities that will serve them well in their future endeavors. Values and Character Formation Education isn't just about textbooks and exams; it's about shaping compassionate, responsible individuals. SJDLS excels in this aspect. Our kids learn not only math, science, and literature but also the values of respect, faith, and caring. These lessons extend beyond the classroom walls, influencing their interactions with peers, family, and the wider community. We're proud to see our children grow into empathetic and socially conscious young adults. A Bright Future Ahead Our oldest daughter, now on the cusp of her senior year, has blossomed at SJDLS. Her 4.2 GPA reflects not only her academic prowess but also her unwavering dedication. As for our son, a freshman, he's already making his mark. We're confident that the solid foundation laid by SJDLS will propel them toward any college they choose. Their dreams are within reach, and we owe it all to this remarkable institution. A Blessing to Our Family and Community SJDLS isn't just a school; it's a blessing. It's where friendships are forged, talents are discovered, and futures are shaped. As parents, we couldn't ask for more. Our gratitude extends not only to the faculty but also to the entire SJDLS community--the parents, volunteers, and fellow students who make this place feel like home.

Who knew applying to preschool and elementary gives the same pressure and stress as finding a…read morecollege? I'm not saying we are a Rancho Christian lifer, but I will say our experience in both the preschool and elementary school have been positive. After researching, talking to parents, and finally touring a couple of the Temecula schools, we enjoyed the fact that Rancho provided an environment that felt safe, enrichment classes that we felt were important (such as the arts), and also included a space for our kids to grow academically and spiritually. *PRESCHOOL REVIEW* We initially toured the preschool, since my daughter was not yet potty trained (and in order for her to proceed in her age level preschool, she would need to be fully potty trained). This wasn't entirely alarming since most preschools in the area have a "mandatory" deadline, which honestly can be stressful on parents. Both my kids "eased" into it; I've always believed that potty training should be a gentle transition and encouraged, not pushed. What set Rancho apart was the partnership that the admission team provided with us, recommending she start in the summer enrolled in the "Little Tots" program, which would provide her in a 3 month setting that eased her into the routine. Ms. Annalise was an amazing summer school teacher. She was in tune with what our daughter needed (especially since she was switching childcare). During the fall, she switched to Ms. Faith - another amazing teacher who also provided a safe potty environment. Soon enough, she was transitioned over to her grade level class with Ms. Jem and Ms. Shilpi. Three smooth transitions over the course of a year speaks volumes of the staff. She loved all of her teachers, and the app that the school uses - Brightwheel, provided a snapshot of their potty, eating and pix/videos for the day. The only thing I wish is that preschool and elementary somehow used the same platform to streamline communication and forms. Apps I had to download for the school are: -Blackbaud: for all application school forms, tuition/billing schedules, etc -Brightwheel: preschool only app for updates/communication -Band: Elementary school app for updates and communication Pros and Cons: Pros: -Rancho is an excellent communicator via Brightwheel/IG/FB/Email. It's easy to get a hold of someone via phone/Brightwheel, they are responsive which is important as a parent! -After a certain time in the morning, the entrance on the side of the school (closest to the preschool is closed), you will need to go to the front of the school and pass the guard check-in gate. I personally love this since there are measures in place to check any guest that comes in after a certain time. -Each parent/guardian is provided with a check in code. This is used to sign in and out of preschool at the front office. -Great school events and staff -Love that our daughter gets to see her brother (who attends elementary) at some of the school events! -Chapel: our daughter looks forward to chapel Wednesdays. Every preschooler has a blue chapel shirt; the service is age appropriate, while providing them with a spiritual baseline. Cons: -The exit gate isn't always closely monitored. There typically is staff around the area to keep an eye on anyone exiting (along with any kids trying to get out), but this could be better. -Summer school logistics was a little chaotic. And this comes from being a first time Rancho parent. We were unsure of where to go for early drop-off or late pickup. -Preschool feels siloed, I wish there was more cohesion between Preschool, Elementary and High School. Overall, we love the fact that our daughter has had a good experience with both the staff and her classmates. We feel that our voices are heard if there is ever an issue, and that for the most part administration is also visible and pleasant to communicate with! Will post our experience with elementary soon!

We chose it because it claimed to be…read morerooted in Christian values and guided by the fruits of the Spirit--but sadly, our time there reflected none of that. The environment lacked warmth, compassion, and consistency. Communication was poor, and it often felt like the staff were overwhelmed or simply going through the motions. Since leaving, our child is like a completely different person--happier, more confident, and finally excited to go to school each day. His new school is everything we had hoped for: it's run with care, competence, and a true passion for early childhood education. The teachers there clearly love what they do and it shows. I wouldn't recommend this preschool to families looking for a genuinely nurturing, faith-based foundation for their little ones.

With all the budget cuts this school still has music and choir. I firmly believe that students need to at least some education in one of the arts, its not all about sports. Given that it seems we have to have fundraisers seems like all year long to balance the difference, its okay. Moving on to teachers- the teacher here do care, Mini-me is no genius at math and forgets stuff- but the teachers here keep in touch and let me know what the down low is. Frankly they appreciate parents that are involved with their kids and the scholastic of education, they are not babysitters they are teachers. Give credit where credit is due- these teachers get a 5-star rating get with the program and be on the education freeway of your child-- know what your child is doing-- listen-- you will learn a lot- maybe more than you want too. Office staff- always helpful, I can't tell you the change between elementary and middle school can be taxing and confusing (its been a long time) but the staff here really was super supportive and understanding. We were out of town for a week and Mini-Me was able to do the home schooling program- wonderful! NO BULLY POLICY- this could use some "realtime- real reality" work- I say this because kids these days are not stupid actually they are quite sneaky- and they know how to work around the system's gray area. To give advise to -Just "avoid" or "stay-away" or "ignore" -- HELLOOOO this doesn't work- it doesn't even work with adults at work and you expect it to work with little minions? Suffice to say- I just say this- This is Jr High what may seem mind blowing and important drama today- won't mean crap a year from now- so just let it go and if you need to tell the office tell the office- kids who are unhappy make other people unhappy- be with the friends who are there through thick and thin- I know its sucks but life isn't fair choose wisely you are who you associate with. But with all the importance on sex education-- maybe have a Bully Education class for each grade at the beginning of each school year... because the policy they sign now- is really obsolete. High school and adult hood is coming and if if they are not education now it will only get worse. My personal opinion is that with all the "teen" TV shows on TV -some with very VERY mature themes that have no place in Jr/High school and some with stupid silly slapstick (not real and doesn't ever happen to anyone -in any time zone-EVER) - kids have no idea whats going on- they are bombarded with drama, and of course Social Media... Anyway- this is as really a wonderful school.... I have has no issues with the policy or education and hands down I think my kids received a decent education. But in dealing with some of the parents- I can see how the kids can "mimic" the bad behavior from home.

I have filed MULTIPLE complaints about kids messing with me in the past, and I have made the grave…read moremistake of thinking that "the school will do something about it" but I was WRONG, turns out, this school doesn't give two shits about what is happening to you, they only care about you when you get a 4.0 or if you're in ASB. From the very beginning, the staff has been exceptionally kind, attentive, and thoughtful. My niece has a kindergarten teacher she truly adores. Earlier this year, one of her teachers was promoted after only two months, and I was understandably worried about yet another transition for a child who has already endured so much change. The way TSC handled that transition was deeply reassuring; there was a clear, caring plan in place, and my niece quickly formed a strong connection with her new teacher as well. My niece was removed from her home over the summer and has experienced significant trauma in her short life. She carries a great deal of fear and anxiety, and she has selective mutism, meaning she is only able to speak with certain people. At her previous school, she never spoke to her TK teacher or her classmates. Seeing her now whispering to her teachers and a few of her peers at TSC feels like a small miracle, and also a powerful sign that she feels safe. Every part of her day is held with care. From the breakfast room staff who help her settle in each morning, to the gate staff who personally call for someone to escort her inside, to Ms. Heidi, the parking lot safety person who greets her with a warm smile and helps her out of the car, each small act of kindness has made a real difference. She comes home happy every day, more confident, and eager to share what she's learning. I'm also so appreciative of how present and engaged Valerie and Jeanette are as administrators. One or both are outside during arrival and dismissal time every single day. Her teachers, Ms. Smith, Ms. Merrifield, and Ms. K, have gone above and beyond to create a sense of safety, continuity, and belonging during a very tender time in her life. One staff member even reached out to me about resources available for foster families through Springs. I haven't yet had the chance to connect, but simply being seen and thought of in that way meant more than I can express. Springs has brought stability, care, and a sense of grounding to an incredibly difficult season in my niece's life, not just through personalized learning, but through genuine, personalized care.

The middle school academy was just the ticket for our youngest son. It has provided the personal attention he had grown accustomed to in the home study program, with the activities and accountability that he was needing. We are so grateful for the teaching staff at the JCS Middle School Academy. They are a group of highly qualified and committed teachers. They make learning fun for the students, and are willing to go the extra mile with them when they are struggling or have questions. They have effectively integrated technology into their curriculum, allowing them to utilize class time to maximum benefit. TeacherEase is an invaluable tool for parent/teacher communication and helps to ensure that students are not slipping through the cracks or not meeting responsibilities. The student body is an impressive group of young people. The smaller more intimate size of the Academy allows them more freedom to be themselves and to develop strong friendships. School functions highlight a spirit of camaraderie and mutual encouragement. The fact that this is a school of choice is most definitely an asset that works in our student's favor. For those looking for an alternative to traditional public education -- Julian Charter School is just what you've been looking for. Check out the Middle School Academy and you won't be sorry.
