Everyone raved about this place, so I went in with very high expectations. They weren't met. Don't get me wrong, it was good. It just wasn't great. Rather than try and work out the French for salmon and maki and all the other Japanese words to translate, I just ordered the chef's special. Seven plates arrived over the course of about 30 minutes. Some of them quite creative, like the three scallops each cooked in a different method. The salmon maki rolls with cucumber. The starting dish was a really interesting "sushi pizza" that didn't make a whole lot of sense - a fish cake on the bottom, topped with smoked salmon and a huge pile of cucumbers and carrots in a tangy vinegar dressing. It was difficult to eat and not very sushi-ish at all. You will want to make a reservation in advance. This place is usually busy on weekend nights. They do have a couple of tables outside during the warmer times. read more

Really enjoyed the service here. Not a huge sushi fan but went for the tempura, miso, and fried ice cream. No tempura fried vegetables but they have a tempura fried vegetable roll, which was phenomenal! Miso soup was a bit salty for me but each miso soup is different per restaurant. Family really enjoyed many other sushi rolls, and liked the larger fish to rice ratio on the nigiri. Roxanne was very pleasant and kind, she impressed us with knowing English and French. If you go here, GET THE FRIED ICE CREAM. It's different from the Mexican fried ice cream at other places, as instead of chocolate sauce it has real maple syrup! It's a light syrup that the owner makes themselves, with a thick and delicious shell and strawberries as well. Sushi bars are automatically expensive. The sushi was quite interesting. The tempura sushi in some of the rolls were over cooked. Service wasn't too quick. So, for the price, I wouldn't come here for sushi. read more

The best kept secret in eastern Québec. Some fish imported from Hawaii is of very high quality. The chef has an incredible way of mixing his superb homemade sauces and his creativity that make his sushi second to none. I've had maki that incorporate both lobster & foie-gras amongst other ingredients. This sushi place is a must but reserve early since they are full house all the time. I've been very fortunate to have eaten the best sushi around the world including New York, London and Japan itself. Temaki truly surprised me. It's inventive, it's flavourful and it's fresh... Possibly the best sushi I've had in Canada. A joy to find this little gem in Chicoutimi. Ask the sushi chef what's fresh and current- we enjoyed bay scallops as fresh and buttery as I've had anywhere, crevette de matane salad (which was amazing) and a philo topped tartare that surprised us. Very very impressed. Is it expensive for Chicoutimi? Absolutely. Is it expensive compared to major North American cities? Not at all. Also, the plates are generous portions.
