I came from a national bank about half a year ago feeling SUPER jaded and cynical, but SFCB made me…read morea believer in great bank service again, plain and simple. Despite the fact that I usually do something kind of embarrassing when I visit SFCB (once I accidentally flung the drive-through plastic tube out my window... I don't know guys, this is just my life), the attendants are nearly always super sweet and accomodating. When I came here I didn't understand the process of writing a check to withdraw money from my account, and they walked me through that with lots of grace despite the fact that I was like, "HUH?!?!?!?!?" They're great. They also were insanely proactive during the Target data breach debaucle and called me to cancel my card just as a precaution, which I appreciated. Plus, there are no redonkulous "maintenance" fees - no fees at all, actually - and that was a big selling point for me after losing money time and time again to my old bank. I visited today with a list of like, forty items to take care of and my teller was amazingly patient and efficient, so that spurred me to give them a Yelp shout-out in review form. If you're a Springfieldian who's unsatisfied with your bank on any level, make the switch. You will NOT regret it with these guys.

I can't even buy 5 gal of diesel for my tractor, then 5 gal (different can) of NO Ethanol fuel for my lawn mower without their fraud watch team shutting my account down. 5 TIMES THIS YEAR, I've had to get in touch with them and jump through hoops to get my debit card reactivated. Most recently, on a trip to another state, the shut off my card after a small gasoline purchase, after I had personally walked in to their lobby and had them make notations on my file I would be travelling. When I managed to get someone on the line, to verify my ID, their representative required me to provide the location where I opened the account, full name, full address, and FULL SS # (not just the last 4 digits). After answering all those questions, he refused to reopen the account because I couldn't tell him, TO THE PENNY, what my last deposit was! At a remote location, in another state, the GSB employee wanted me to remember what my last deposit was - and it will vary week to week, depending upon overtime hours worked the previous week. Over the past few years while I've banked with GSB, I can't count how many times I've had to call to reopen my account in a similar situation, and while out of town, and I don't normally even carry a cell phone, that has been a real PITA to do. After many years of this, I've finally had to call it quits and open accounts at another bank. Hopefully, they won't be so quick to shut off my funds every time I spend a little of my money.

I recently discovered a data breach on another online service, unrelated to my bank. Using due…read morediligence I informed my bank and closed and reopened another account. They then said I COULD NOT USE THEIR ONLINE BANKING until I have my computer scanned for viruses. How can I secure my account if I have no access to my finances?!?! DONE with you GSB. I'll go where they support me better.
