For background, I have no interest in interior design and have no business spending real money on furniture I know nothing about. But I found myself in a situation where I had nothing for a space that had to be smartly utilized. And I wanted it to be beautiful. Was this really the time to experiment with Pinterest while spending thousands of dollars? & I needed the furniture to last long enough that I wouldn't have to think about this again for a very, very long time. I also needed to buy everything during a pandemic, when everything was delayed... So I turned to an option I never had considered before - hiring interior designers. I had heard great things about this team and wanted to explore sourcing this huge project out to them. It's a pretty simple process. You go to their website and fill out an intake form that introduces yourself and the project. Then they'll sell up a virtual call to meet and discuss your style, and budget. Then they came and looked at the space, took measurements. Then they pitched a proposal. From there you have to make some decisions. They are going to present you with options that may be outside of your budget. This is where we gotta grow up a little and recognize that if you want nice things, this is how much that actually cost. I was happy to increase my original proposed budget to get what I needed. But there were some peices that I wanted to spend less on and they quickly came back with lower priced options. They were very adaptable there. With that, they placed the order! Over the course of the next few months, the furniture started arriving. They work with a contractor who you can hire (through them, they handle all the admin work) who can assemble, hang, etc do all that work for you. They even came over to make sure everything was hung in the right spots. There is a science and art to design that they are factoring into every decision for your space, and it's worth their fee to get all your nice new furniture all in the right place. They look for beauty and functionality in every detail of the space. So now I have this gorgeous dining room [photo provided]. Our guests are blown away whenever they walk even towards the space. It's exactly what I wanted when I described the target ambiance to the team. Beautiful, relaxed, warm, stylish. I can't tell you how happy I am with my experience with Splendid & Swanky and the confidence it brought me about my home. She came into my small condo with a loud voice despite me repeatedly telling her my baby son was sleeping. After seeing the window, I asked for a ballpark and she said $1000. I made it clear I don't plan on living here for more than a couple of years so I'm going off price. I picked the cheapest fabric and a couple others. No quote was under $2000 (more expensive than Shade Store). I told her this was double what we discussed and more expensive than the Shade Store quote so I wouldn't be moving forward. I started heading back to my room to run to a work call and she loudly demands, 'aren't you going to see me out?' I explained that I needed to return to work. I live in a 1000 sq ft condo and my nanny was in the kitchen by the front door so it's unclear why she needed a formal send-off. This agent had probably 50 feet to walk to get to my front door. She proceeded to get aggressive and loud despite my repeated asks for her to quiet down given my son was sleeping. She insisted her voice wasn't loud and proceeded to insult me. I kept asking her to please leave my home immediately and had to threaten to call the police if she insisted on continuing to cause a disturbance. The fact this woman is in Sales boggles my mind. Have some basic respect for a person's home and a sleeping infant in a tiny condo.

We were working on a tight timetable, so I was receiving store fixtures while construction was ongoing. Eric and his team were able to work around this without any problems. Second, my initial flooring choice became unavailable between the time I selected it and ordering. When this happened, Eric and I went down to Home Depot together and found another option that looked better, was higher quality, and cost less. I cannot recommend Eric and A&E construction enough! 100% would use again. In fact, I have some upcoming work that I need to do on my home. For context, they painted the interior or of our entire home - walls, trim, and ceiling. The team knew how to work with high end paint and transformed a set of drab, beige, poorly textured, and banged up walls. They sanded the walls to manage the texture, worked expertly with tricky corners, managed complex work with dry wall to address dings and structural oddities. They are not just incredible painters - they are also amazing project managers and partners. The team managed our paint job while we traveled, but our furniture and floors were kept pristine (despite our 0% prep for them). When they ran out of paint (because I insisted on getting it and didn't get enough!), they reached out.
