This is terrible company with terrible customer service and terrible job! They have delayed theur work for weeks trying to increase the original quote and when i refused to accept it they just came and painted the walls over the tape. The walls look terrible. They wouldn't contact me to ask if i accepted the job and applied the charges on my card even though i have emailed them prior saying they were NOT authorized to charge me. They also refused to fix their terrible work. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

I wish, I would have dealt directly w/ the contractors and not two different middle people. So you send pics, and they draft a quote based off the pics. I won't ever do that again. Trust me, hire a contractor. One person drafts the quote and the other person, is supposed to be the project manager. Those two are not contractors. As best, I can tell, they sit behind a desk , probably like a call center. My job was supposed to take two days, it did. However, on day one, Paintzen had already fully paid them selves. They charged, the card I used to make the deposit and paid them selves before the work was even halfway finished. Didn't ask me first, nothing, just ran my card. They started on a Thursday. When I woke up Friday morning, I had a receipt in my email, that said paid in full. The contractors haven't even arrived for day two yet. Then, I had a leak in a pipe, which created a little hole. The contractors created the hole, but I did have a leak. I got the leak fixed and then I contacted Paintzen to come back and close the little hole. First, no response, then, the bs. First, it wasn't in the contract, then the excuse was it was a new issue. Anyway, after some back and forth, I was able to receive a very small credit. So I can get someone else to finish that small part. they could have finished in 10 mins. I mean, they painted the whole house in two days. That small part of the ceiling would probably have taken 30 mins max. But, they was already paid by then, so you know how that goes. Look somewhere else for a painter. Look for a company where you deal directly w/ the person performing the work, or you work w/ a designer from the company. Don't deal w/ a bunch of middle men & women, who don't do the work, have no expertise, no license and have never painted or constructed anything. Last, the prices are high too. I give the contractors 5 stars. I give Paintzen none. But, I had to pick one star to publish this review. I wish someone would change that. read more

We wanted to sell our house but didn't want to spend a fortune on upgrades. We picked two key rooms and had Paintzen paint them. Although the process was entirely via email, it was easy and the team showed up on time and did a perfect job. I mean no missed spots or lines anywhere. Clean up was awesome. I hired paintzen to paint my kitchen cabinets early August 2019. The two contractors were friendly, worked very briskly. My 3 day project transitioned into a 2 day project. In retrospect, this was probably the issue. When you rush through services, you might have things to fall through the cracks. I was not present when the contractors finished, however, I was told to assess their work and follow-up if I had any issues. I called the next day with complaints regarding smoothness, abrasions and dried paint drippings. After multiple emails and proof of imperfections, they agreed to return and fix those areas. A different contractor (manager) returned , after assessing my concerns he stated that the cabinets were not primed appropriately, which is why he could scratch the cabinet surface with his fingers and there was chipping immediately. You could see my original cabinet color, which was satin white. He was very professional, he agreed to re-sand, re-prime and re-paint some of the cabinets. He did a great job with blending. He only took care of those areas that were visibly noticeable. Two weeks ago, I went to wipe my cabinets down and noticed more white abrasions. These were of course all the cabinets that appeared to be fine. I contacted the project manager and was told that this was normal wear and tear (after two months) and I would have to pay for them to return. ABSOLUTELY not, for the same mishap to reoccur. I am dissatisfied at their inability to see my perspective and accommodate me. I am NOT a scam artist, I'm a hardworking business owner that expects good quality service and impeccable work to follow. I will not refer paintzen to anyone in the future. read more

Amazing a company can quote you prices without ever coming to see the actual job site. Nor do they care about Customer Service enough to actually send a real person. Made me feel like they are a 1-800 site; into the abyss I go. Found someone that was a living, breathing body -- actually came to the house -- also was half the price. Absolutely amazing job! Highly recommend these folks! It's crazy because after shopping around and interviewing painter after painter for quotes, Paintzen came along and made an otherwise daunting job SUPER easy and painless. They are a god-send! I live in a luxury high rise building in an affluent area so everytime I called a contractor out for a quote, If and when they showed up, I could tell they were "sizing me up" and bumping up the costs unfairly. That's what I love about Paintzen is they quote unbiasedly based on the job, not where you live! This is the one time where "sight unseen" can work in your favor. My apt feels brand new, the painters worked efficiently and professionally, paid SO much attention to detail, arrived ahead of schedule - they covered all of my personal belongings, took off their shoes (without me having to ask) and overall just sweet people. I heard of PaintZen on Bloomberg West and decided to give them a try for my office space. The website was simple and they got back to me really quick. The main office handled everything (scheduling, payment, etc.). They were super efficient and left the space looking great. Even did a bunch of chalkboard columns and created our company logo in the center of the office. I'll be using them again for sure. read more

I would not use this service again. I tried to schedule two rooms to get painted. I received a confirmation of the appointment and purchased paint to use. That same day I received an email asking if I had the paint. I didn't immediately respond during the workday and they canceled my booking which meant I had to reschedule one of the rooms quickly before my furniture arrived which would have made painting much harder. They did the job which was ok but the lines of the accent wall are not what I would expect out of professional painters. Then they charged me for both rooms even though I decided not to schedule the second room given how the first room looked. read more

Paintzen just did a pretty large interior project for us, including baseboards and trim. It was a very good experience, and I would definitely recommend Paintzen to friends and colleagues. The website was easy to use, and once we were ready to schedule on Friday, I was able to book for Monday, which is really spectacular. Fresh paint for my parents' visit! The quoted price was exceptional - it came in about 1/3 of any other quote we got. So to say that it's a bang for your buck is an understatement! The only real work we had to do that other painters have done for me in the past is move the furniture. Overall the quality exceeded the relative cost. There were some minor issues - for instance, some areas where I can see they didn't or tape (or didn't tape well) the light switch plates as they promised to do. Also, rather than removing the screws that we left in, they painted over them - which was our mistake for not communicating that, or removing them ourselves - but one has a pretty big drip. There are other areas that they painted where they went above and beyond though - including the fact that our painter fixed our back gate! Our painter Jose was friendly, polite and professional. came by himself the first day, and had help the second day, so was finished very quickly. The original estimated time was 2-3 days, maybe 4, so for it to be done in 1.5 was awesome. My other big issue was some of the scheduling. Paint was dropped off at our house on a Sunday late afternoon - we were not expecting it, but it worked out fine. I mentioned it to our rep, and got a personal phone call from a CSR apologizing. As noted, I was planning for anywhere from 2-4 days. Our painter was prompt, if not early, on the first day, Monday. Before our painter left, we established that he would come back Wednesday, which was kind of annoying to have a day off; but later that night, he texted asking if he could come Tuesday, which we were more than happy to do. Tuesday, he asked if he could arrive at 7:30 am, which we were also OK with (Paintzen says their painters arrive between 9 and 10 am so this made getting to work on time easier). Due to traffic, he arrived closer to 8:30, so it was a little frustrating to wait, but he was very apologetic and plus traffic really was a disaster in DC this week. Lastly - I would probably prefer to pay once the entire job has wrapped up, rather than 10% before it starts and the balance on the first day. It also seemed like maybe our painter wasn't clear on when I paid either, until I told him on the 2nd day it was paid for. I had my concerns about using paintzen (namely security/reliability), but the entire process was a good one, and I would use the service again. read more

He wasn't able to finalize the quote and stated that someone would be contacting me the next day to do so. It has been a week and I haven't heard anything. Their online services are easy to use, and the speed in which the job is finished is amazing. From conformation of order to completion 7 days. My condo is 1025 square feet with 12 ft ceilings. We hired Paintzen to paint 2 sets of staircases in our home. Tom, the painter, showed up on time and the end result was very good. The issue with the company lies in the service we received from the sales consultant. Booking the job seems easy enough, but they don't hold the contracted price. We booked the job for X dollars and paid 10% upon booking. A few days later, I was contacted to send some pictures of the areas to be painted. After "review" of the pictures they told me that they were charging me more because the ceiling height perceived from the picture was 14 + ft instead of 10 ft ($120 difference). I called to assure the ceiling height is in fact 10 ft after I measured it several times. Their response: "I've showed the pictures to my team and we all agree that the ceiling height in the first staircase is way above 14'". Apparently a picture counts more than actual measurements. We finally agree on determining the final price when the painter shows up and he can measure himself and verify the ceiling is 10 ft instead of 14+ft and no extra charges are needed. To my surprise, the sale consultant Don, didn't honor this e-mail agreement and decided to change the quote to 14+ ft and charge my card without even getting verification from the painter on-site. BTW, I took the time to measure the ceiling height with the painter and it was 10 ft as stated!!! When I called to clarify the billing issue 2 days ago, he said he will contact me back and I'm still waiting. I had to call 2 more times to try to clarify the issue and it's still unresolved (though they sent a quick e-mail saying they are working on it). I would think that if they are so fast charging you in advance for the work, they should be as efficient to refund you when they overcharged you without a valid reason. read more
