I cinema in the outskirts of Tullinge - pigs fly!…read more
This passion project by a couple from the community is quite amazing: They have used their savings to buy a building previously used to educate air traffic controllers (the area of Riksten used to be a military air base) and turned it into a cinema!
They have collected seats from an old cinema in Gnesta. There's a set of really old cinema projectors and posters to look at in their little cinema museum right outside the movie theatre itself - it's all very quaint and charming.
The cinema itself is quite small (60 seats in four rows) and you sit quite close to the screen - all seats are good. Technical specs are no joke: digital projector, 17 speakers and the entire setup ready for 3D film.
The only way to order tickets is to email or call them at which point you will get a personal response saying that they're holding the tickets for you - then you have to come and pay for them at least 30 minutes before the show. No internet booking or payment, but the personal interaction with the people who actually run the place makes up for the cumbersome nature of the booking process!
They sell popcorn, bacon snacks, candy and soft drinks. I love it! Let's hope they can draw a crowd and survive!
