It's been many years since I attended the fire school, but I highly recommend if you're in the firing industry!

The station itself is pretty state of the art and well designed which makes me confident in its efficiency, It not only services College Station, but the neighborhoods just north of the boarder in Bryan where we live. It is my understanding the the station was built to accommodate more staff in the future because of the projected growth in College Station. Make sense to me! Making this one a little bigger is more cost effective than needing to build a whole new station in the next ten years. That's for all the cynical one stars in the world, lol!

Don' t get me wrong: I love having a fire station so close to my house and I admire fire-fighers…read moretremendously. Have helped them, sung carols to them, all that. But a fire station the size of a Death Star? I mean, this station is to normal fire stations what those new houses on Dexter with the six-car garages and temple-sized living rooms are to normal Dexter Park and College Hills houses! Kinda makes you wince. I mean, yes, it cost us $7 million to build, but please tell me those $$ included the cost of a solar energy collection unit that will pay for air conditioning that HUGE interior ceiling space this summer, and the electricity to power what looks like two hundred exterior lights to illuminate trees, fancy signs, the blue neon surrounding the statue of the firefighter (did a local artist get wealthy on this commission, I hope?), and the pump to power the continuously-running fountain. Please tell me it's off the power grid! It is mighty fancy and I am certain it astounds all our weekend visitors, but... pork barrel, anyone? Love, Kate L. College Hills resident

My son is a student at Texas A&M, and I LOVE staying at the Stella Hotel. Campfire is the hotel…read morerestaurant, but it doesn't *feel* like a hotel restaurant. It has great food and an excellent vibe. You wouldn't know you were in a hotel if you didn't have to actually go to the hotel to get there. :) Bar service is always great, there is usually no wait, and the food is excellent.

I've only been here for drinks in mid-March so I can't comment on the food…read more Located in the Stella hotel, this is a spot that has the look of an elegant upscale spot. With that look comes upscale prices. You'd think the prices would match the experience but as with most hotel restaurants, they do not. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of food and drink options here and some deliver such as the Pine & Petal cocktail which is as pretty as it is tasty with the hibiscus, pineapple, mint and lime mixed with buffalo trace. And I enjoyed the Walt Blue Jay Pinot Noir which was a generous pour delivered. As for service, it's the definition of inconsistent. When I sat down, they greeted me within a couple minutes and poured my wine immediately and let me sip it in peace. So far so good. But when I finished, they approached and asked me if I'd like another drink which I replied about the Pine & Petal cocktail. They put it in and then the bartenders go to some other guests and chit chat about some contest they are setting up with the soda gun and building some paper boat to float down it with the person building the best paper boat getting a prize. I'm sitting there thinking are they gonna make my drink or do I have to remind them again? So they organize this contest with about 4-5 participants and then crown the winner. As they're celebrating, the bartender comes back and asks me what'd I'd like to order. I'm definitely a bit peeved since this was roughly 15 minutes after I had asked them to make the Pine & Petal cocktail. So mentioned that I ordered that cocktail a while ago. The bartenders realized their error and made the drink and decided not to charge me for it. While I appreciate the no charge, having the attentiveness to make the drink instead of focusing on the paper boat contest would've been more sufficient. Especially given the reviews commenting about customer service. Should I stay at the Stella again, I may venture here to try the other cocktails. But I'll probably just order one and be done with it.
