Organic, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free...whatever your requirement, you'll find something delicious. Wild Cherry specialize in homemade healthy food and it all tastes absolutely divine! I spent at least ten minutes staring at the selection of savoury treats...anchovie and vegetable strudel, vegetable quiche, chorizo and ham lasagne...everything looked mouth-wateringly good! Whatever you choose, it will come with a choice of salads (and we're not talking lettuce and cucumber here!). The sweets are equally as enticing: one side of the shop is given over to all sorts of pastries, cakes and even homemade bread and butter pudding! The coffees are well made and a little cheaper than you might pay in the centre of town- a cappuccino and a chai latte cost £1.95 each. Wild Cherry is not only a lovely little cafe, perfect for breakfast and lunch- they sell all sorts of posh pickles and preserves, as well olive oils, biscuits and chocolates. All of the food was light, full of flavour and very nutritious so I walked away cured of my previously dreadful hangover and feeling fresh (also thanks to the help of their detox juice which may become a hangover essential). She fussed over all of her customers. It struck me watching the staff just how different this place is to Starbucks. Much more friendly and no extra charge for a glass of iced water (see my review of rip off Starbucks Portsmouth). Costa also sells Coke Zero which the other lot don't - ice cold coke is great when the temperature is steaming. We were delighted that the place had effective air conditioning as it was 34c - hotter than Barcelona. Costa now advertises that it has linked up with Marks & Spencer for food so it's a touch of real class in their sandwiches, wraps and sausage rolls. They had free WiFi, the seating was comfortable and their toilet facilities were clean with paper towels provided to dry hands. Go Costa.

The food is simple and yummy. They do a great breakfast special- you can get crumpets, toast or a bagel with jam for only £1.25! They do all the usual teas and coffees as well as delicious smoothies. If you're in the mood for a treat, they also have a great selection of homemade cakes and the lunchtime options such as sandwiches and jacket potatoes are yummy too - the jacket with chilli is especially good. All in all the food is inexpensive, the service is really friendly and the location is great- what more could you ask of a café?

The sandwich was goats cheese and was really delicious, with very crispy bread and beautiful fillings. The brownie, too, did not disappoint! It has been one of the better brownies I've tasted around Brighton of late - sticky, gooey and just right! It was very chololatey, though, and by no means small so it's a possible sharer, if you don't have quite as much of a sweet tooth as I do. The place itself is dinky, but cosy and comfortable still. The food selection was great for a cafe of this size, and they even catered for vegan and gluten-free diets by the looks of it. There was even...wait for it... free wifi! Hurrah! This is always a bonus, in my books, so it was a rather great find, on top of my delicious lunch. Tucked away in one of the busier lanes, this place could be easy to miss, but next time you're wandering around, keep your eyes peeled and pop in for some cake or a sandwich!

It was pretty close to closing so too late for me to have coffee, we tried the iced tea instead. Plus their iced tea was made from rooibos so caffeine free! I'm really glad we got the tea as it was so refreshing on that hot day! Sweet, floral, with a nice balance of citrus. And of course the barista put in a lot of ice to make it cold. The perfect summer drink if you're looking for something other than coffee. I wish we had room to try their delicious looking cakes and treats, there are so many to choose from and I always love cafes that have a range of food options. The cafe is two floors and we sat upstairs. The window let in a lot of sunlight with two cute painted murals on the back wall framing the window. Denise, the "Queen of cakes", has been baking cakes for years. She originally opened up the bakery next door making cakes to order for special occasions, and has recently taken over the adjoining cafe so we all have a chance to sample her delicious wears! As well as cakes, the cafe offers homemade savoury snacks such as sausage rolls and quiches, as well as light lunches and cream teas. The coffee is high quality and reasonably priced, and the tea and hot chocolate are fab too. Combine this with a homely environment, plenty of outside seating over looking the green, and super friendly service, this place is going to get a lot more of my business in the near future!

The people that grind the beans and man the coffee machine seem more interested in the art of coffee making than the folks at Costa Coffee but I've still never had a cup I've enjoyed. Maybe it's my personal taste but I've yet to meet anyone else that rates their coffee either! With regular lattes and americanas priced around £1.80 upwards, I'd rather make myself a good cup of Union Coffee or Monmouth at home than be disappointed again.

A few weeks ago my home internet went down and, in a desperate search for free and reliable wifi, I stumbled in here with an optimistic smile on my face. I wasn't disappointed! The wifi signal is amazing! I've never had any troubles with it at all, which is a rare find. Yes, this is a chain, but it actually does things very well. The food is tasty and the coffee is delicious (to my standards). The space itself is also really great and it never gets seriously busy like other cafes in the centre of town. I've been back here many times since and have left as satisfied as the first time. If you're a student or a home worker looking for a great place to sit and work, undisturbed with great wifi and nice coffee, this is the spot for you!
