We got off the bus near the Cathedral and had planned to wander round the shops and then stop off somewhere for lunch, and then do the Cathedral. Well, we saw this cute little place and our plans changed. The window display was inviting and there was a spare table outside, so we decided to start our trip with a cupcake. They had a wide selection and it was hard to choose. In the end , I had a Maltesers one and my mum went for lemon curd. To accompany the cake, I had green tea and mum had English breakfast. The tea was loose leaf and was very nice. Some green teas can be a bit bitter but this one was very good. The cupcakes were really nice. We noticed a sign in the window for cupcake decorating classes - a great thing for kids and adults alike. I think this may only be a year old. It seems popular and hope it continues to do well.

The service was first rate and the food was outstanding. I had a great breakfast with sausages and bacon with scrambled eggs cooked to perfection, served with toast and beans. It really hit the spot. I also had to try some of the pastries which also were incredibly delicious. The pastries are all handmade and you can tell they're made with a certain amount of love and pride. Spires is a local cafe with a small selection of indoor seating and some outdoor seating as well. It is indeed quite a cozy atmosphere. They also have a fabulous "to go" menu. So if you ever find yourself in Chichester England looking for a local breakfast place that is sure to please, this is it! Tell them Greg sent you!

You would think that PGI meant some sort of quality but apparently not. My friend's lamb one was equally poor. Actually having clean plates would be helpful.
