As a black belt from Paragon BJJ, I love this academy. This is the 3rd year that I've trained with…read moreEric at Mammoth Lakes BJJ. Every year it's been a great training session. Last Wednesday, Eric taught some great "Butterfly Sweeps." Then, we drilled techniques and sparred. Excellent training! I enjoy the challenge of training in high altitude because it humbles me as I gasp for air. LOL I encourage anyone that's in Mammoth for vacation or otherwise to visit this academy. You won't be disappointed. July 2019- I wish there was a 6 star rating. I had another great training session at Mammoth Lakes BJJ. This time I was blessed to attend a "Take Down" seminar by one of Eric's collegiate wrestlers. The guy was a great instructor! Excellent training!! As always, Eric is the nicest and most welcoming instructors I've ever met in my 2 decades of BJJ training. Thank you Eric.

"I hate to complain, but the schedule at this gym is truly terrible. The other day, I arrived when…read morethe website indicated open mat should be. I was told it would begin in a few minutes, so I purchased a day pass. However, upon reaching the gym, they were already finishing up. I requested a refund, explaining that I was there specifically for open mat, but was denied. So, I just went home. (Although a worker said they would contact the manager for a refund, which I do appreciate, I don't think I received it, but thanks for trying, nonetheless.) I returned the next day around the scheduled time, and again, nothing was happening. I called them later and asked when I could come by for an open mat session. They told me it would probably start later than the schedule stated, so l arrived then, and still, nothing. I apologize if I sound harsh; I usually never give bad reviews. I was just frustrated because I had to walk to the gym twice for no reason. If a gym wants to attract new people, they should honestly stick to the schedule or at least update their website. As someone who trains at a gym in Austin, TX, this was not the best welcome, and it was made extremely difficult just to get to the gym at the correct time. Just trying to be constructive, the people in the jiu-jitsu area seemed pretty friendly when I spoke to them while they were wrapping up. All I'm trying to say is that a strict schedule makes it much easier for people who are new to the gym or even traveling.
