He produced an initial report with a soil bearing pressure and a set of recommendations for how to prepare the site. We followed these recommendations, which included compacting any fill into which footings would be dug, and, where possible, cutting footings into native soil (in which case no compaction would be required). However, during subsequent field visits, after the footings were dug into native soil, he changed his recommendations and suggested that we did need to compact even footings that were dug native soil. He sent three different technicians for three different field visits, so no technician became familiar with the site. The final field visit was done by a technician who calibrated her instruments incorrectly. Both my foundation contractor and a hydrologist on site told her that the device was mis-calibrated, but she insisted that the soil was not as compact as it should be. Finally, after getting Jonathan on the phone, she agreed that she had entered the wrong calibration coefficients and that our soil was indeed compacted to specification. However, she was rude and defensive, and continued to suggest that are soil compaction was inadequate even after she spoke with Jonathan and corrected her instrument. I had to call Jonathan three times over the next week to persuade him to issue a final report. Jonathan also sent a different tech for a site visit that I never requested. This tech billed 9 hrs of time to come to the site, watch my excavator work, and collect a soil sample. According to my excavator, the tech was on site for approximately 1 hr, and the site is approximately 90 minutes from Reno. Both the fact that I never requested this visit and that I was billed a shockingly high number of hours makes me suspect that Jonathan wanted to pad the project hours, since it was coming in substantially under his original estimate (and his final bill was within $5 of his original estimate, even though we were working on a time and expense basis).

There office staff are good too and very reliable when it comes to getting back to you about projects. I love that about them. I have done a perk test and land survey with these guys and they have done an excellent job on both. I have talked with Mike and he has been around with this company for awhile a now and he really is good at his job. The office is small but big enough for checking out your plans and has a small planning area. There is a fronk desk area for you to check in at. Very conveniently located and has plenty of parking and street parking. I highly recommend these guys if you have projects you need to get done on your property or land. I am definitely a fan and will keep coming back. These guys have really taken care of me. I really like the small town feel of these guys. I have not been put to the size like other companies I have inquired from. My projects are small compared to other projects these guys are dealing with but they really took the time to help me with my projects. So again I would highly recommend these guys and check them out to see if they can help you on your next project. Thanks for reading my review.
