I was put in contact with Kevin Cooper who got back with me promptly and advised on how to share my documents. I provided all of my relevant info by the end of Feb 2024. Come the beginning of April, I hadn't heard anything. I reached out twice, no response. I started calling daily and getting responses like "we're working on it", and "we'll call you back." Out of the 10 times I called, I was called back once. At one point I was told I was getting a large refund, when ultimately I owed more than what the refund supposedly was. It turns out that they hadn't looked at half of the documents I submitted. By Friday, April 12 it became obvious that Carlyle Tax was not going to have my taxes done by tax day if they were working on them at all. I then completed my taxes on TurboTax in 1 hour and 15 minutes. I waited until 9 pm on April 12 to get a call back which never happened, so I filed my own taxes. Overall, a huge waste of time and energy for me to end up doing them myself. I now see that my experience seems very similar to the review written by Lindsay 1 day ago, so this must be a trend and not a one-off drop of the ball like I previously thought. Even if they had finished my taxes, I do not think it's appropriate to wait until the literal due date when you've had the information for more than 2 months.
