In the past, AFS and my accountant Lynne have made the process pretty smooth so my anxiety is definitely not on them. It's totally my own hang up. And because they were so great, I thought the process was as good as it could get for me. UNTIL THIS YEAR! My friends, they have introduced their online portal. I was able to easily (and securely!) upload all my documents, send any notes over via messaging, and a week later my return was processed and e-filed for me. No need for a phone call, no need for a meeting, no need to drive to their office and get sweaty palms over having to talk this stuff out with someone, no need to sign anything and scan or fax it over. It took me 20 minutes pulling all my necessary documents and uploading them and bing bang boom it was all set! I was also a straggler this year and they were able to swiftly take care of everything for me with more than a week to spare! Ha. I will say my returns are pretty easy so you may need a little more TLC and 1:1 time with your accountant but for me it was super easy. Highly, highly, recommend reaching out for next year if you need a new accountant!
