South Florida Ducts - AC service call

South Florida Ducts

A real pleasure having South Florida Ducts replace all of our home's old leaky ducts and vents…read more From the fair and transparent pricing (no surprises!), the timely scheduling, the great communication, to the professional, clean, and properly engineered install, it was a great experience for what was a dreaded necessity. I highly recommend Jeremy and his team: Robert, Amit, Wayne and Ronaldo. Hard, hot (heat of summer) work done right.

Two technicians from other companies noticed the condensation bulb in the air handler was removed and said that was a big no-no that could have contributed to the unit failing. (I'm not saying it did since there's no way to know but it was certainly disturbing to hear that). When I asked SFD about this, they they either never noticed it or just missed it and that it wasn't that big of a deal. That was a little disappointing to hear because we paid hundreds of dollars for their bi-annual maintenance plan and they had just inspected the units although this time they sent a less experienced tech. They also gave us conflicting information about whether the other (working) air handler needed to be cleaned or not. I liked these guys a lot and trusted them but ultimately there were too many red flags and so they lost our business.

Shawn used analysis equip to take close look at health of all of it including the heat exchange area. As he's recently relocated to Raleigh/Cary area, he right now anyway has free inspection/analysis for new customers. Given vulnerabilities of my system, I'll probably take him up on his main deal. Highly recommended. Saved me lotta$$. Thanks Shawn!

Alex L. Very…read moredisappointed with AC Police. I originally paid $600 just to replace a fan on my old unit and it only lasted a few days. In March 2024, I purchased a 4-ton Rheem system from them for $9,500 hoping to avoid more issues. In December 2025, the unit froze. AC Police came out and charged $405.72 for a dye test but couldn't find the leak and said they would return in five days. They never came back or followed up. Now in March 2026, the unit froze again. A technician finally found the problem -- a leak in the outdoor unit caused by faulty Rheem equipment. The part is under warranty, but AC Police is trying to charge $1,040 in labor to fix it. You'd think a company would go after the manufacturer for the cost but not AC Police. I called two other HVAC companies and both said that price is extremely high for this repair. Between the high costs, lack of follow-up, and trying to charge over $1,000 on a relatively new system they installed, this has been a very frustrating experience. AC police was of no help. From spending over $10,000.00 with a company you'd think they some what care and try and resolve this. I strongly recommend getting other quotes before using this company.
