I asked an employee where the Owala water bottles were, and he happily told me where they all were. There was a huge selection of water bottles. I needed one that was on a higher shelf, so I asked an employee nearby if they could help me grab it. He happily helped! At checkout, the register attendant was also very helpful and friendly. I think the staff at this Dick's is a great group of people! I solely want to come back, because they were so helpful!

The store is clean and everything looks like they're organized in logical places. I came here to look at running shoes. The shoe department is very spacious and has a large amount of shoes. However, the shoe inventory is stored away from the sales floor and an employee needs to help you by bringing your shoes to you from the back. I walked around the department, looking at running shoes, hoping that eventually an employee would also be walking through and help me, but no employee ever showed up. There were a couple of shoes I was semi-interested in, so I decided not to actively look for an employee. I was impressed by what they carry, like lots of items for camping, fishing, water sports and athletic clothing for all ages. The golf department is rather large. I ended up walking to the tennis department and selected some tennis balls. Got into line and waited ... and waited ... and waited. It took about 15 minutes of waiting for me to get to the next open cash register. Two employees were at the separate cash registers, and they were busy with their customers the entire time. If I was in a hurry, I would've most certainly put the can of tennis balls down and left. Nice clean store, and lots of great looking inventory, but attentive customer service is very much needed here.

This was my first and last visit to the Academy Sports location at Perimeter Mall in Cumming,…read moreGeorgia. Employees in one department went on break at the same time, leaving the department completely unattended. I requested to speak with a manager specifically to address the lack of coverage. I was approached by an individual who identified himself as the manager, "Chris." I calmly explained what had occurred and expressed my disappointment. His response was dismissive, sarcastic, and lacked any concern or empathy. When I stated that I would be posting a Yelp review regarding the experience, he replied "thank you very much" in a sarcastic manner. As I turned to leave, he began calling my name loudly and aggressively. I exited the store. I later contacted Academy Sports corporate customer service and spoke with an individual named Sev, who identified himself as a Customer Service Supervisor. I explained the entire situation. He expressed concern and stated that he would call me back the same day. I did not receive a call back. When I contacted customer service again, I was told that Sev had emailed me. It was later determined the email had been sent to the wrong address. Once I finally received the email at the correct address, I was informed that he was too busy to call me. This experience gave the clear impression that my complaint was not taken seriously and was simply dismissed. Customer service at both the store and corporate levels was disappointing. For comparison, I have shopped at the Academy Sports location in Cumming, Georgia, and received excellent service there. Unfortunately, that was not the case at this location. I will not be returning.

The level of service at Perimeter is exceptional--thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely elevated. Every associate I encountered greeted me & greeted me warmly. I think it was Bethany who sold me on the membership, but she made the experience personalized, not forced or sale-sy. She started a fitting room for me while I shopped & I always love that. She also told me about the resale section and I got a brand new jacket at a sale price. I also always love that The gentleman in the shoe department was equally impressive, providing expert guidance that made my selection feel confident and informed. He was always there but still gave me lots of space; you get me. Much bigger selection all around compared to the Expressway and the sale items were still relevant. Overall, a refined and exceptional shopping experience. I'm already enjoying my new membership--thank you to the entire team!

While they are much smaller than the Seattle's, they are more comprehensive gear shops around the Metro. This Perimeter REI is the best in our area. Sure, all Metro locations carry mostly same things plus or minus few inventory items / sizes. For me, it comes down to the staff and currently, this Sandy Springs REI has the most competent and attentive people. Recently, I ordered several hiking boots online and had to return one. I decided to return it to a store rather than by mail. I was educated on such huge staff knowledge differences on simple return process amongst local REI locations. It seems our consumer service level in most places have declined much in the past few years. However, as a Co-Op, REI has mostly kept up their service level even with my recent experience at another location. I appreciate Atlanta has many REI locations in a city that has very limited outdoor gear shops. One thing I absolutely find helpful at REI is their rock ramp to test the boots. Though when I was visiting many were shopping for OC sneakers. The staff here were more knowledgeable and helpful especially if you are early in your outdoor habits. Enjoy!

On 2/8/26 my family visited the store to purchase equipment for our first ski trip. Upon entering the store, we were not greeted or acknowledged by any staff members. During our time in the store, we observed employees actively engaging with and offering assistance to other customers. Despite our visible presence and attempts to seek help, no employee approached or offered assistance to our family. While attempting to locate ski goggles for my son, we approached an employee working in that section of the store. The employee ignored our presence and did not respond to our attempts to engage him. He only acknowledged us after noticing that we were attempting to locate assistance from another staff member. We then moved to the ski boot and winter boot section to request assistance. My son politely asked an employee located in the rear of the store for help. The employee immediately raised his voice toward my son and made an additional comment under his breath that was inappropriate and unprofessional. My son returned to my wife and I visibly uncomfortable. The same employee then approached our family and, in an aggressive and hostile tone, stated, "What do you want? Hurry up. I do not have a lot of time. Which one of you is first?" I addressed the employee directly and informed him that his conduct was rude and unprofessional. Due to the nature of that interaction, we discontinued seeking assistance from him. Despite the prior interactions, we proceeded to the checkout counter to complete a purchase. After waiting in line for service, the cashier answered a phone call and remained engaged on the call while we stood directly in front of him without acknowledgement or explanation. When the cashier concluded the call and began assisting us, we calmly explained the treatment we experienced in the rear of the store. The cashier responded by stating that the store was busy and suggested that we should return during non busy hours. This response dismissed our concerns and failed to address the conduct that occurred. Throughout our visit, we observed employees offering assistance and providing service to other customers while our family was repeatedly overlooked, spoken to in a hostile manner, and treated in a way that was materially different from other patrons. Based on the totality of these circumstances, we believe our family was subjected to discriminatory and disrespectful treatment. Most concerning was the emotional impact this experience had on our son, who was exposed to conduct that no child or customer should experience in a retail environment. Consumers should expect to be treated with professionalism, dignity, and equal service regardless of background. Based on our experience, individuals and families should carefully consider this when deciding where to purchase ski and winter sporting equipment. Response to my post; Chris, while I appreciate your respond it doesn't excuse your team and how they treated me and my family. It doesn't talk about what you and your staff will do going forward to ensure you don't treat people in such a demoralizing way. We will never come back to any of your locations. Praying that you see this for what it is and do more as a human to support those who want to enjoy outdoor sports

My wife was looking to replace a pair of Brooks, which they did have and all went well for her purchase. My observations include the minimal amount of stock...one or two items hanging for clothes, hats, etc. and no price tags on any of the shoes ! I am luckily not in the market for another pair of men's running shoes but I enjoy checking on sale items. Apparently if you have to ask how much then the philosophy at this store is we do not want to make it easy for the customer. I asked the sales person what they had in Brooks size 12 and she came back with one pair of shoes. Not impressed.

I called the Roswell rd location and asked the associate for the insoles. He told me they had plenty of instock. Once I got their the associate was helping a lady with a pair of shoes. I went to the area where the insoles are and started looking for the 2 sizes I needed. The associate asked if I needed any help as he paid more attention to the busty loud blond haired women. I said I had called in a few minutes ago for the insoles. That he claimed they had plenty of stock, and to my finding, they had none. He then said go to Amazon and order them because they all of a sudden didn't have stock. Even though I had just called 20 minutes prior to driving to the store. I feel he could have paid more attention to the call & my request. He could have told me over the phone just to order them online. Instead of me driving 20 minutes in traffic both ways. I will not say it was a total wasted of time. Now I know Amazon has them. When for years Amazon did not carry them. Based on this experience, I do not ever have to go back to that store.
