Wonderful place. I…read moreinitially went solely for the Billy Joel exhibit, but ended up getting more of a bonus with the second floor which I didn't know about. Guess it pays to do research sometimes. As mentioned, the Joel exhibit is what I came for and I wasn't disappointed. There is a LOT to look at and to take pictures of, plenty to read, and a spot where you can put on a pair of headphones and listen to each one of his albums if you want. The set up, layout, and displays are quite good. A lot of Joel's real and actual personal memorabilia is here - they are not props or fake. There are two spots outside of the main Joel room to take photos of yourself mimicking the covers of his Glass Houses and 52nd Street album covers along with a prop for each of those albums nearby. Upstairs there's a small room with seating playing Joel concerts. Any fan of Billy Joel will appreciate this and should go out of their way to come to check this out. Past the main exhibit (Joel) and on the second level is a general Hall of Fame Museum for Long Island with great displays, original items, and memorabilia. From awards to apparel, there is plenty to see with a lot of history. It's one large room, but the displays are laid out well and it should take you some time to take everything in. There is a small gift shop on the first level with items from both the main exhibit and the museum itself. The staff were approachable, very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable - which goes a very long way these days. The prices are very reasonable. With both the main exhibit and the museum, this is well worth a trip. I'm unsure how much longer the Billy Joel exhibit will remain up, but it's something any fan of Joel's should come and see.

The sets are so craftfully designed and the visuals and animatronics are incredible. The actors are also so spooky! No one touches you and they make sure you have the best experience by trying to keep different groups from being on top of each other inside. I also had to tie my shoe in a dark room and one of them helped me with a flashlight. Thank you! The queue is virtual which is amazing because they have games outside you can play and food, drink, and alcoholic beverages to buy while you wait. And plenty of tables and chairs. I don't recommend this attraction for people with mobility issues as there are LOTS stairs and moving floors which can be dangerous. Can't wait to return next year!

Other than the fact that the slope is not that pronounced, any seat should be fine for viewing. Now for the important points.......We saw "The Fantasticks," the longest running Broadway show from 1960 to 2002. Jerry Orhbach actually played el Gallo, the narrator, in the original who opens the show with the beautiful ballad, "Time to Remember." Well, this production followed that proud tradition. Every actor was excellent and very talented.......the narrator, the boy, the girl, the two fathers, the mute........they were all superb. Bravo! A job well done. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. Tip: on weekends when the Dime Bank is closed it is OK to park in the adjoining parking lot. We confirmed that with the theater.

Next time I think I would like to sit in that section. It's a little smaller, less seats and closer to the stage than where we sat. The play we saw was called, Half Time. It was a true story about older people who auditioned for the half time show for a basketball game. It was funny, entertaining and sad all at the same time. The actors did an amazing job. As far as the singing, some were better than others, but I think part of the problem was, some of the microphones were not as loud as others. It was still really awesome, and made the reality of getting older sobering and funny at the same time. I am not sure how long this show is running, but if it is still at this theater, you should go see it. I was able to only sneak two photos, since we weren't allowed to take pictures. I would go back to see other shows here. It's a great theater located in the great town of Port Jefferson!
