I love this place, they have a two way approach of teaching where they offer both group and one on one classes (to refine techniques and work through any technical issues). The teachers are young, relatable and very attentive. Their teaching style is very kid friendly and if they see something that's not quite clicking they find other ways to explain it so that its more relatable and or make more sense to as why something is done a certain way (not just seeing the trees but the forest as well.) Also after every one on one class the teacher goes over your child's progress and what they see as their strengths as well as the things that can be worked on and improved. The staff is consistent (not a lot of change over) so it's make things much easier as far as getting into a routine for the kids as well as the parents. My kid has been there for a little of a year (started when they were 8 but now they're 9) and has had the same three instructors - Mr. Bilberry, Mr. Begonia and Ms. Ferdin (which is a plus in my book.) They are taught practical applications for real world situations. They are also big on conditioning and friendly competition to help with pushing them further. There's alway a nice group of kids attending the group classes which is one of the reasons why my kid loves going (we use this as part of their social time since they are being home schooled.) The dojo is always well kept and organized (it doesn't have that funky smell that you'd think a gym would have which means a lot when you're waiting during your child's practices.) There's also a great cafe (the Benicia Coffee Company) a few doors down if you prefer to wait off site in the area. The Coachs are really good and are very knowledgeable. Even though I had and idea of their skill levels I really found out after witnessing one of their open houses where the instructors did a demonstration of their fighting style Kenpo Karate! With this particular style they use a color belt system to mark accomplishment and skill level. What's really cool is if you're feeling left out and are in need of a workout they have a boxing gym as well that offers lessons that you can match to your kid's schedule! If you're looking for a martial arts spot I'd highly recommend this place and they even offer a few free lessons to give you a chance to see if it's the right fit for you and your child! It's a win win situation in my book! J

Hello everyone…read more This was my experience in Benicia Boxing. Coach Andy is amazing and made me feel comfortable and confident when hitting the pads and also corrected my stand and taught me the fundamental basics. Coach Travis is the other person that was training me. He taught me how to correctly throw a punch and learn how to move with my feet, which was needed because I'm a beginner. My overall experience was great and will definitely come back in the near future

Geoff the owner is very involved, and always has the eye for improvement amongst the gym. First things first is that Pro Faction has all the tools for Muay Thai. They have a canvas ring! Most gyms don't even have the space for it. Next is the endless amount of Muay Thai equipment that is provided. If you watch your favorite Thai fighter train on Instagram or YouTube, every type of pad that they have, Pro Faction has. Beyond the ring, they have many mats, a secluded area specifically for different types of punching bags, and an area for weight training. Everything that I could physically need to improve myself is right there for me when I step foot in the gym. The number one thing that I look for in the gym, is cleanliness. This is a must. All of the pads are hung up, with nothing touching the floor. All the gloves and equipment have its own rack, and are sterilized after each use. Even the mirrors are spotless. Trust me, I check! Next is the training staff. Geoff teaches the first Muay Thai class and makes sure that your basics are down. Like anything in life, you can never be "too good" for basics. The beginners in the class are no different that the fighters. Everyone works on the same thing and gets better together. Next is Alec. This young lad is full of knowledge and information. He can take your game to go from good, to great. If there's one thing that I appreciate, it's how involved these two are. When I'm not in the gym, they give me text messages about what needs to be worked on outside of the gym to optimize my training time. Overall this is a great place to train for all skill levels of any age. Pro Faction also teaches Jiu Jitsu if Muay Thai is not your cup of tea. If you have an itch to train, this is definitely the place to go. Come in and make a positive change in your life!

I highly recommend the Muay Thai class for adults and for kids! I loved that Denise, AJ, and Cheryl really kick your butt to house/Vegas/EDM style music. I also love the boxing class. The place itself does not look fancy but it is what it is = a kick ass place to get your cardio in along with fighting classes for all ages. I think its great they also hold occasional challenges (most fat loss/most weight loss) and have prizes such as free membership for a period of time, etc. I find it very hard to believe that this gym or any other would charge you for 4 months after the fact-- I canceled mine when I moved and did not experience such an issue. I did however buy the 10-pass class for when I do visit my family on the weekends and can get a cardio workout in. I say try it for yourself. There are all kinds/sorts of people here: thick, thin, young, older, beginners, novice, expert. You'll fit in no matter what shape you are in.

As a Professional former WBC welterweight boxing champion || Celebrity Coach, my experience at Pal…read moreBoxing (Vellajo) was the worst of any gym I've visited around the world. The owner (Tyler) appeared welcoming the first time we've met, but after an incident that occurred at his business he showed poor judgement and little to no concerns. The young fighter Bryson with the colored hair felt the need to pull a gun after suggesting that he wanted to spar with me and I said ok let's go. (Bryson Turnbow) @jbqt_ was collaborating with us for content creation. This was setup by my business-partner who often helps him as she's thoughtful as an amazing person. This collaboration required him holding pads while we record a few combos. Less than two minutes into holding pads while I punched lightly to see if we had chemistry, his attitude became sour towards me. Once I saw his body language I stopped and immediately had a conversation to let him know we aren't competitors and this is just some mittwork, he exited the ring and took a seat on the bench for another 2 minutes before I asked him if he wanted to try catching punches while I throw a little harder. He said yes, entered the ring again, and we started working. I was using approximately 50 % of my power and I thought he was doing well on the pads. Like most coaches and fighters, you'd see the trainer throw a slap as the fighter here and there with the pads while they work and Bryson did exactly that, which I was ok with as I'm experienced and defended. We got into a little play, he threw punches and i used a few feints and non-contact decoy jabs to throw him off. Soon after he mentioned getting his gloves to spar with me and I welcomed it. I even asked him if he wanted to get protective gears for safety. He said no, I said ok but let me change to a 18oz gloves as I was wearing a smaller 10 Oz gloves at that time. I honestly thought he wanted to spar to help settle his nerves. Maybe trying to land on me would've been a nice little challenge for him, unfortunately! He decided to get a GUN instead and this surprised me and my business-partner. His drama was uttered in nasty words, such as; Get the fuq outta his gym. This is his hood. I think I'm better than everyone else because I have FOLLOWERS and so much more. We did not escalate things and he refused to be calm to have a conversation. Our final decision was to leave the gym and take necessary action regarding the matter. I wouldn't recommend this gym as a safe place for children or anyone looking for a positive community. While i hope others wouldn't experience this, Reports to California boxing committee and USA Boxing is necessary.

I had one month left and since I hadn't been going, I decided not to go in and update my card and give them $100+ for a gym I wasn't using. They the. Tried to charge my card for an additional month after my contract ended! I received several texts asking to pay and they said "I'll see what I can do about getting this last payment down" I told them I hadn't been there in months. They're now sent me to collections for $124 and I get phone calls from corporate. It's so weird that they're this aggressive over $105 when I WASNT EVEN UTILIZING THE GYM. This was a great option for a quick workout, and I would have loved to return if I ever was able to get consistent childcare In the mornings (I work PM so AM Is my only option) but now I know they won't welcome me back and I for sure wouldn't want to. Being a small business owner myself, you should learn the habits of your clients and adjust accordingly. You can literally pull a report and see I hadn't been coming. So why try to charge an additional month? Weird.

After just a few months of TKD, his self-esteem began to grow and he looked like a natural on the mats. Watching and looking at our son now (who is now 7), you'd never think he was that shy, little boy. He is very determined to continue TKD and has goals to get his black belt. One memory that sticks to me the most was when our son was 5 years old and he refused to belt test because he was so nervous and was afraid he was going to make mistakes. Not only did the instructors speak with him and reassured him that everything will be ok, even if he made mistakes, but the students and parents also cheered him on and rooted for him. Our son eventually tested, and his self-confidence was through the roof, all with the help of our Vallejos TKD family. It really is true when they say "It takes a village." Another reason why we love Vallejos TKD is because they also acknowledge the kids' accomplishments outside of TKD class, whether it be having a good report card at school or doing chores at home. Thank you Vallejos TKD family for your love and support always
