I formerly trained in Judo and the reason I changed to aikido was it's a way to train without getting hurt or injured. I think the self defense phase of it is excellent but it takes time to learn it. Most police officers are trained in it at their academy as it's a way to control a person without injuring them. We are lucky to have a woman teacher with the skills that she has developed over about a forty year career. Beginning classes start about every six or seven weeks, all year .
