This review starts with a confession - taking piano lessons is the only new year resolution I was…read moreever able to keep - mostly due to James. He is a great teacher, very professional, very nice and approachable. I enjoy the lessons and I enjoy practicing at home and it's not a chore because I see the results every week, every week I'm getting better, learning more and building on that foundation. What was amazing to me - is that it's theory put right into practice, I was playing right away. I really enjoy his method and I believe it's very effective. Also, half hour sessions are very affordable and we cover enough material for me to keep practicing and playing new pieces. Thank you James!!!

At pick up time, she wanted to stay and continue learning. She loved the academics because they made it "so fun to learn" and she loved the creative art activities. I highly recommend Tip Top Brain and she will definitely be returning for their other camps and activities. Thank you to the owner and all of the staff at Tip Top Brain!

If there is a more noble cause in this area, I'd like to see it…read more America's largest Chinatown is only getting bigger. And with that, the community of Chinese immigrants both old and new become less dependent on having to communicate with the world beyond the hood's borders. Usage of English already varies throughout the many ethnic enclaves of NYC, but the largest, most concentrated one Manhattan needs none of it to thrive. Locals who aren't part of English speaking social groups or in the service industry don't have the luxury of being able to practice their English skills often. Enter the Chinatown Manhattan Project. Instead of the expensive ESL courses offered by other private institutions, this strictly not-for-profit organization is the kind of real world training that many locals would benefit from. Employment services, vocational training, and computer literacy are just some of the areas the CMP can assist with low-income immigrant / refugee individuals. When it comes to subjects that matter, affordable education is a win-win for all. I've had the pleasure of occasional volunteering for the English conversation program and it's hard not to see the value immediately. Many of the folks coming in the doors are from all walks of life, usually limited in their English ability and are just looking for an opportunity to converse with a native speaker on a variety of subjects for 90 minutes a session. It may seem like a ho-hum exercise for some, but for many attending the classes, this is likely the only English they'll speak all week. All volunteer programs make a difference. A helping hand makes an impression for all who are involved in the project. This is a program that ought to receive additional funding and attention for the good vibes it provides to the Chinatown community. As Chinatown continues its seemingly never ending expansion, programs like this are only going to be in greater demand. It is a rewarding experience that I can't thank class leader Nelson W enough for letting me be a part of it. For all folks who are looking to contribute their time through goodwill, I highly recommend volunteering at the CMP as their way of giving back.

I have volunteered with CMP for over ten years now as a project manager for adult education programs, and the organization continues to do a great job addressing poverty, under-employment, and entrepreneurship needs for Asians, Asian Americans and first-generation immigrants who struggle with barriers to education and employment. CMP is helping the community overcome these barriers by offering support and resources for English writing/speaking skills, career counseling, and job training skills. For Asian Americans like myself, I find that many in our community actually do not have the ability to speak the native language. CMP facilitates that as well by offering Mandarin classes for all speaking levels. Prices are affordable and the teachers are excited to help you learn. I can't speak for others in the class, but my Mandarin skills are definitely improving!

We wanted her to continue learning piano and sought out a new teacher. We set up an evaluation with Ms. Theresa earlier this year. And just from the evaluation, my daughter changed her mind about quitting. Ms. Theresa's calm, patient, encouraging, and soothing teaching style was exactly what my daughter needed. She was comfortable with Ms. Theresa from the beginning. She especially loves the games Ms. Theresa uses to teach piano fundamentals. They are a great way to make the lessons fun and engaging. My daughter is more enthusiastic about playing piano, and has greatly improved. She even practices at home more than she did with previous teachers. Lastly, Ms. Theresa's rates are less than what we had been paying previously.
