Too bad when we got the program I can see ALL THE SONGS we missed from the first show. My niece loves music and loves singing at home so I took her for her first concert! We had a good time and she was dancing in her chair. Our show had piano, violin, guitar and a clarinet guy who was pretty good. One of the kids froze on stage which was cute and sad at the same time, but everyone clapped to help him. Looking at the program the youngest performer was like 4years old - who is still older than my niece. It was alittle confusing to find Musipire on yelp because there are three branches, but I think I will bring my niece back when she gets older.

We had to take her to her pediatrician and she was diagnosed with strep. bacterial throat infection. She had to stay home and take antibiotics for a few days. Melody music school refused to make up her lesson because we notified the school on the same day although early morning. This was her last class for our prepaid-13 classes session. The school said we have to sign on for another prepaid 13-classes in order to make up for her class and they would not give us any refund. Their attitude was very nasty and said they don't care what we think. They have no heart, no sympathy and no compassion! This is how they treat a sick 5-year-old. In addition, the teachers in the school come and go quickly because they could not tolerate the school either. With the instability of their teaching staff and lack of humanity to their students and parents, this is the worst choice you could consider!

What makes the Rookies class unique is that students are allowed the opportunity to explore different instruments (guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and vocals) so they don't need to commit to a single instrument just yet. Group instruction allows the students to work together as a band - playing with other musicians is one of the best ways to improve your skills. The Bayside/Queens location recently changed ownership and was acquired by School Of Rock of Long Island around October 2022. I believe they are going to expand to Forest Hills as well. The students learn 1 new song each month which gives students exposure to many different musical genres (rock, blues, pop, metal, hard rock). They could be playing "Roar" by Katy Perry one week then AC/DC's "TNT" another week. Most recently they were learning the "Twist and Shout" (Beatles version) and "Rockin' Robin" (Bobby Day) - I just realized that School Of Rock probably has to pay a decent amount of money for the licensing/ASCAP fees. At the end of each month of the Rookies class, the parents are invited to watch the children perform the song and it's impressive how much the student pick up after a few hours of group instruction. The older students who receive individual lessons actually perform at a live venue for an authentic rock star experience. The school prepares students to take the prestigious "ABRSM" exam, which stands for "The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music" the exam can test you in theory, written, aural, and practical. I heard the exams are pretty intense, so if you can pass it, you're one step closer to playing with the New York Philharmonic. They are a wonderful bunch of people.
