There are many Hippa, OSHA, Fire, Building code and First Aid concerns right off the bat. If you have asthma or breathing concerns, the cleaning solutions and air conditioner filters and dust are a problem when sleeping. In 2 weeks I never got the care I was promised and never met with my case worker to assist with my issue. The security treats you like you are in prison and searches your bags each entry. I find it weird that they know what you have before searching you stuff. Weird. I got kicked out of there for refusing to let the guard search my bag over and over for brief entries and exits. He seems to get joy demeaning people including seniors and starting fights. I refused to let the guard bully me and got kicked out by management without ever meeting with staff for my goals. A big waste of time and resources. The nutrition is a problem keeping you tired and unmotivated. Corn Dog, chips and sugar water for example. They also refused to serve me food several times so I went hungry. Bummer. The best part is when outside resources bring food in. Its way better than the breakfast for dinner option. Not good at all. Envision cold eggos waffles, hash brown and Luke warm sausages. One guy got sick and threw up in the dorm. Ridiculous. There is a lot of fighting and tension for the elderly and things go missing at random. Need I say more?

They never answer the phones, they don't offer help legally or otherwise. Sure they can find you a shelter but that's it. How does that help again? Where's the advocates to be there for support? Where is the advocates helping you file restraining orders? Helping you get out and on your feet? I haven't found them, legal aid does NOT go with you to court anymore ... they will only help you file paperwork for a divorce, but it has to be simple, the 15 min speak with a lawyer is absolutely nothing, they say if you pay 35$ you can get a lawyer, wrong! You pay to get a referral to a lawyer, and no, that lawyer is not free. With all the donations this shelter gets, you would think they would have better resources to help the victims, and survivors of domestic violence abuse. So hey, just keep building those pretty buildings... This is my opinion, my personal experience with this company, that I wanted to share with you. I relieved myself in plastic bags that I found in the room. I was physically and psychologically abused time and time again from a monster of a husband. With his drinking and drugs he injured himself, he called the police to get help and the police thought I injured him. (I could not I was locked in a room) I was arrested on domestic violence charges. Once at the jail I was molested by the jail guards and the other guards stood and watched. Now I am a victim again. By the way the district attorney dismissed the charges as I did nothing to injure the monster of a husband. Now I am homeless and have nothing so I called Shelter from the Storm and they refused to assist me because they think I am a violent person due to my arrest record. I called other shelters and was told the same, due to my arrest record I can not get help. The charges were dropped. I was violated in jail and was a victim twice and this agency get funds but turns away the ones the need help the most. Shame on you!! As a woman somehow I will make it back from this nightmare; but as for funding this agency I would never recommend it.....................

I approached him first and then the rest of my Family walked up. We all had the same address and I guess since my Daughter is prettier and younger than me, he chose to just ignore me and start talking to her. He said he wanted to help so we would all need to be on one together. He then said my Dad and Daughter could pick up but continued to ignore me and be sarcastic. He made it seem like I could be on one account by myself and they would be on another one. When they walked away he told me that I am not eligible because we live in the same household. I told him to put me on the same account as them and he was very rude and said he couldn't. I am not sure if he did or not. I loved getting to know everyone I came across & more interesting is that these individuals didn't choose to be homeless and not all fell to drugs some have mental illness some lost their jobs because of our economy nonetheless they shouldn't be judged or look down on but to be treated with respect kindness compassion and dignity because after all their human beings too. I'm really glad that our community has a spot like this. We have come here for many activities and…read moreevents. When we first moved to Beaumont and the kids were small we came here for the monster mash at Halloween. It was a fun, free event that the kids got to play games and earn candy and surprises. We have come for events like building your own stuffed animal, and our little loved it! We also come here for the volleyball league, and way back when we came for toddler soccer. With the exception of an employee who no longer runs the volleyball program, everyone who we have encountered has been very helpful and friendly. There are always fun events going on as well as blood drives. They have all kinds of flyers on the desk for all kinds of events going on, definitely something for everyone!
