This is a true hidden gem in downtown Orangeburg. My husband and I arrived from Atlanta seeking a vegan friendly restaurant and Tea Thyme delivered the perfect meal. The patio was the perfect setting to complete our meal with the views of downtown.

We were on the interstate looking at Yelp for recommendations. Do not judge a book by its cover!…read moreThe service was five star, Robert was genuine, incredibly helpful, helped us make selections off the menu. Our service was fast as the food came before we even realized we had ordered it. If you are searching for true Thai cuisine, that is authentic and incredibly flavorful, You must try this place. It's true and some of the other reviews have said it, the outside leaves nothing to be desired and the inside could even use a little help. However, do not drive by. We pulled up after reading reviews, and I almost didn't go in just because of the outside and what a mistake that would have been. This is a five star a rating restaurant.

Solid 4.5 Stars here - Don't judge this place by its cover... the food is outstanding…read more This was our third visit to Thai Orchid over the last few years while we are visiting the area, and the food has never disappointed. I'll be honest...the exterior looks a bit rundown, and the interior (including the bathrooms) could definitely use some cleaning and updating. But when we go out to eat, it's about the food first, and this place delivers where it matters most. We started with the veggie spring rolls, which I'd rate about a 7.5/10, good, but not the highlight (you can only do so much with veggie spring rolls lol). For our entrees, we ordered the drunken noodles with tofu (partner is vegetarian) and I had the pineapple duck curry (it cane with a small salad). The drunken noodles were excellent--9/10, with great flavor and balance. The pineapple duck curry was a standout 10/10 for me, rich, flavorful, crispy duck skin and absolutely worth coming back for. We arrived just after 5 PM on a Saturday and were the first ones there. We were seated immediately, and the service was very good throughout. The menu is huge, with plenty of options, and prices are reasonable for a specialty Thai/Asian restaurant in Orangeburg. We ordered both dishes at a mild spice level, and they came out perfect, just enough heat without being overpowering. Bottom line: the building could use some love, but don't let that stop you. The real treat here is what comes out of the kitchen. If you're in Orangeburg and craving Thai food, give Thai Orchid a try, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised by the quality.

We drove two hours, one-way, to pickup some freshly harvested pecans and really enjoyed our visit!…read more South Carolina pecan season is Sept-Nov so they make for a great fall treat (think pecan pie at Thanksgiving) and great gifts for Christmas. In fact, many of our friends and family are getting pecan gifts this holiday (surprise busted if they read my review). They sell online but prices are almost twice as much...which is why we made the two hour drive. I knew it was good source because I have purchased them from coworker in past years via a fundraiser (something they actively support if you need to host a fundraiser). MY FAVORITE is their butter roasted pecan halves. So incredibly buttery delicious with perfect amount of salt. When I serve them, my guests are always surprised in how good they are. They really come with a "Wow factor". I use them to make salted Carmel pecan ice cream....yum! I normally opt for their large 2lb bucket. They actually freeze well, and last more than a year in freezer, so don't hesitate stocking up. Today I discovered their praline pecans!!! Amazing!!!These are dusted in buttery, sugary seasoning. Not to be confused with pecan pralines (sugary praline wafers embedded with pecans). I opened the one bag in the parking lot before we left, and immediately went back in to buy more for gifts. OMG! They sell locally made pecan pies but I was disappointed they didn't sell locally made pecan pralines. The pralines were made in Texas. There are pecan trees all around the property and across the street. They said it used to be a large orchard. They source their pecans from many local sources, so they seem to be more of a processing facility than a farm. The store sells many local items in addition to the pecans. It's worth a browse, even though you come for the pecans. If you are looking for some local South Carolina pecans, then you won't be disappointed with sourcing them here!
