Listen to me: Hire Rusty Crain Concrete & Excavation for any concrete work and/or landscaping you…read moreneed for your home or business. I was building a pool in my backyard earlier this year (February 2021), and after the pool was put in place, I had to wait for my pool builder's concrete crew to secure the concrete and have availability to pour the concrete decking. Fast-forward to July, and there was still no movement on completing the project. Rusty and his crew then stepped in and were pouring concrete within a week of contacting him. My backyard was a fiberglass pool surrounded by a huge gravel pit before Rusty got involved - and as I write this in late October of 2021, it still may have been without Rusty's connections and expertise. Pictures of the before-and-after are attached to this review. I cannot say enough good things about Rusty and the people who work for him (Alonzo and Alfredo are unbelievable and INCREDIBLY good at what they do). They framed and poured my pool deck - and broke down the forms - all in 1 day. It looks so good! While they were finishing up on the concrete, I asked Rusty if he could recommend any good landscaper to help turn the rest of my yard into a livable space - and he said, "Yeah... ME." So, we talked over the vision I had for my backyard, and he came back a little while after the deck was finished to take measurements and sketch out a plan. When I tell you that the completed project was EXACTLY as I envisioned it in my head, I'm being 100% honest. He truly is a magician with a concrete wand. (Pictures of the landscaping, pavers, river rocks, and zoysia grass before-and-after also attached to this review). Here's the deal: We all are apprehensive about having contract work done on our home or business. It's nerve-wracking and we don't want to get ripped-off on a job - especially if it turns out we don't like it. Rusty is not the cheapest guy out there, and for good reason. He will explain every detail, be there at the site every single day, be able to change things on the fly to make sure you're totally happy, and he'll come back and check on the completed job as often as you'd like until you're comfortable or just have any questions about how things turned out. I honestly could not be happier with the work he did for me. There's not a tangible price I can put on peace of mind. Just to put a tidy little bow on this review about Rusty Crain: his wife is a literal competitive body builder; his oldest son is a veteran and served as an active-duty Marine; his other son was an undersized middle-linebacker in high school who set the school record for total tackles in a single game his Senior year. He and his entire family do not know the definition of "half-ass" or "just good enough". The attitude, dedication, and pride he puts into his work is the "fine print" in his deals - and that's WAY more important than the sticker price. I will be using him--and only him--for any concrete or landscaping work I need in the future. Thank you, Rusty Craaaain!

Rusty completed our circular driveway this week - and we couldn't be happier. He was the only…read morecontractor that helped us out with some random HOA requests, before we were even able to commit to working with him. He was up front with all cost considerations, including worst case scenario issues, so we knew the full best case and worst case range going in to the project (and not surprisingly, we came in somewhere in the middle, the additional costs were all associated to city requirements associated to the permit). The project timeline was great, they made incredible progress on all days where the weather cooperated, and he kept us informed of next steps every step of the way. I couldn't recommend Rusty highly enough. We talked to 4-5 contractors that were happy to do an estimate and let us figure everything else out, Rusty provided the above and beyond service that we absolutely had to have just to get the project started. Great contractor, great person. (in photos, the concrete is still curing, so it hasn't settled into it's long-term consistent color...)

Along with that, we widened parts of our driveway the original builder didn't take note of. I had seen them working in my neighborhood so I figured they would be dependable and do a good job. And as a Veteran, I prefer to work with other Veterans. The day I emailed, I received a reply and it was easy to set up an appointment for someone to come out and assess what I wanted. I received the bid and after approving the job, the very next day they were out and going to work! They come with a team and immediately went to work marking out the areas. All in all, I had six separate concrete jobs and they worked day and night the first two days to get it all set up for the concrete pour. I have conduits running through my current driveway to run electrical and some landscaping irrigation and they were great about making sure to extend the existing conduits with the new concrete so I could still use them. And for the shed concrete pad, they put in a conduit so I could run electrical underground into the shed instead of through a wall or the roof. The day of the pour, they arrived early and went right to it. It was a full day of work for the multiple projects but they managed to get it all done. And after the concrete had set, they came back and took away all the framing, cleaned up the area and aside from the new concrete pads, you would never even know they were here. Fast, professional and amazing work. Easy to schedule and keep in touch with. While others might tell you they are booked out for months at a time, I was able to get mine done relatively quick. I HIGHLY recommend them. I tried contacting the original contractor who did our driveway, but even after talking to the builder, they wouldn't return calls. But with Cogbill, they are great at communicating with you and will do whatever to make sure you are satisfied. If you are in need of a concrete project, you glad you contacted Cogbill's.
