After being loyal customers for many years, we had an experience that chased us away. A manicurist, Who appeared to be a new staff (male) stabbed my wife's finger causing blood. No apologies from the manicurist or the owner. Really disturbing considering how long we had been coming. read more

I have a FB message that I wrote as soon as I left the salon. I tried to attach it but Yelp said it was long. I can see my message was read however there was no response that's why I'm writing a review . 1. I was under the impression they did Gel X because I asked prior. They did not so they offered Dip. I said ok because I have done Dip many times. 2. I was sat down at a dirty table 3. He did not soak off in acetone after using the drill. He left some of the Gel X on a painted over it. I was not quiet and I questioned why, asked why dirty cuticle nippers were used on me from a dirty caddy with dust all over. Asked about the nail file used to clean up my dust off a dirty table and then used it on my nail. 3. Could be a language barrier because the nail tech called who I assume was the owner over. I asked why cuticle nippers sitting in a caddy were used and not from an autoclave bag. I also mentioned the nail file too. That's unsanitary. She thought I was talking about the brushes. As he was cutting my cuticles I said I had sensitive skin and was cut by the drill later on my left pinky. Oh and if you do decide to go here have cash. They do not take debit or credit cards. They have an ATM for convenience but the customer is inconvenienced because it's a $2.50 fee that they likely get to pocket. That's my problem though because I should have looked at what there payment process is. My service was $55 and I gave $60 and walked out. I should have left as soon as a sat down that's my fault. read more

Unfortunately I had a very unpleasant experience yesterday. Disappointed because I have had overall decent experience here in the past, but I was very mistreated yesterday. I arrived at the salon at 1:45pm, sat in the waiting area, looked at the colors, then was taken to the table for my simple fill in. The color was taken off my nails then they were shaped. I was then told to go wait back in the waiting area while he starts and completes another girl who arrived 15-20 minutes after me. I thought well I'm sure it won't take too long... before I knew it, it was 3pm and I was STILL waiting with my as shown below half completed nails. I was asked to wait at approximately 2:15. I work a demanded job so the weekends are my only time to relax. I felt my time was wasted and I was made to feel very unimportant. At 3:05 I walked over to the table where he was still doing the girls nails and asked how much longer I would have to wait. He proceeded to tell me 15 minutes. I was not taken to the table until 3:28. The nails are okay. I left at 4:10pm. And was charged full price without even an apology for the wait. 60 dollars. I was there for approximately 2 and a half hours for a fill in. I will not be coming back and will not be recommending to anyone. Moral of the story don't make your clients feel like crap! I watched multiple people come in and leave while my time of waiting. I am also still upset I was not offered a discount or even an apology for my Sunday afternoon being cut short. I have found my new nail shop. I recently moved here and this is the third nail shop I've tried. It's super clean and they did a great job on my mani pedi. They have a menu for all services, so no surprises on fees. I also love that they place a plastic cover on the pedi tub for each customer. Extra sanitary. My SNS was also done just like I like it. Such a hidden gem in Shepherdstown. I've seen some complaints about pricing, but the prices are well worth it, and not even close to as expensive as some other nail places I looked at. Easy appointment scheduling and an amazing and talented staff :) This was my first time getting acrylics and going to a nail salon on my own. They made it so easy to book the appointment, pick out colors and styles and were so kind! Not to mention, my nails look amazing!! The lady at the front desk was super helpful and nice and the sweet lady who did my nails I didn't get her name but she did so good with my gel nails and my hands were really dry and when she cleaned up the skin around my nails she did so good I've never gone to a place where they don't cut my skin and my nails look amazing if I ever find myself back in town I'd go back in a heartbeat! read more

The plus: great staff and wonderful color choices. I went with a chrome metallic purple/blue. The not so plus: one of the nails does not look right. All but one are vibrant with just the right amount of metallic. Every time I look at the one nail, I cringe as it just does not compare to the rest. I am a fan of this shop. I have been going to TD Nails and Spa ever since they opened their business in Shepherdstown. What a gem we have with them here in our little town! I have both manicures and pedicures here, and have brought in out-of- town friends (both men and women) to treat them to the wonderful and relaxing services T&D provide. It's on my list of "go to" places for my visitors. The shop is comfortable, clean, and has absolutely NO smell so often evident in nail salons. Their tools are sterilized so I feel confident no problems will transfer from one customer to another. The salon provides snacks and beverages. Customers are treated like family. They stay up to date on the newest products and techniques. And most importantly, their manicures and pedicures leave nails looking awesome and feet and legs relaxed. For years I have had problems with my feet that sometimes make it painful to walk and the pedicures I get at T&D are the only things that gives me relief. I was surprised to notice a few average-to-negative reviews of this establishment, but I also noticed that these reviews were rather old, dating back to shortly after the salon was established and back to a time when new staff techs were being hired. Tony, (the owner along with his wife Didi) is quite a perfectionist and it is clear that staff that do not meet his rigorous standards are not kept at this shop. So I have the feeling that those who gave negative reviews, early on, may feel more favorably disposed toward this salon if they were to patronize it now. Having said that, indeed, there are times when a customer may need to wait (something one sometimes experiences wherever good service is provided), but staff will not hurry people through by doing a mediocre job in order to start on another customer. Sometimes a customer will take more time than anticipated and that puts the techs a bit behind schedule, but they take great pride in their work and want their customers to be satisfied. read more

When I moved to the area I tried several different nail salons, only to be disappointed. I'm particular about my nails and I'm adamant that I make an appointment and that it's adhered to. This place hasn't disappointed me. There has been only one time that they've kept me waiting - not too bad given that most salons will take walk-ins regardless of their appointment schedule. The staff is friendly and booked me an appointment over the phone. We showed up on time and when we saw the techs were all busy and people were waiting, we asked if they could still get us finished in time, because we had an event to get to afterwards. They said we could take a seat immediately and we would be completely done in 45 minutes. After sitting with feet soaking for 45 minutes and people ahead of us who had still not yet even started, we left. I felt it was not ethical for them to a) allow me make an appointment for 3 people when they only had one pedicure tech working b) not to be truthful about how long it would take to see us. I walked in without an appointment on a Sun. afternoon. I was greeted as soon as I walked in by one of the nail techs (they didn't have a receptionist). I asked to get a mani/pedi, and both he and the nail tech who did my nails asked a few times if I was sure I didn't want to get the gel manicure. It wasn't aggressive, but they each asked at least twice and I politely said "no, thank you." I was offered something to drink while soaking my feet for the pedicure and got a mini bottle of water. The whole salon looks clean but their bathroom could have been a little cleaner (not bad though). There are 3 or 4 TVs throughout the salon. They also have a wide selection of nail colors. I was happy with how my manicure and pedicure turned out, and my nail tech was nice. We made small talk but didn't chat it up the whole time which was good because I came there wanting to relax. When I went to pay, the same nail tech who greeted me had to step away from his client to ring me up. Glad they offer the option to tip on your credit card here. Also the nail tech (who now that I think about it could have been the owner) gave me a $5 gift certificate for my next visit. read more

I called to make an appointment at 2 for pedicures. I walk in, I am not greeted. We sit in the pedicure chair for 20 minutes until someone comes over. I say unfortunately because they did a great job on mine and my daughters nails and my friend and her daughters nails and I would have given them a 5 star because of how pleased we were. The gentleman was even understanding when I didn't care for his design and he removed it. HOWEVER...we were from out of town so I called ahead and made an Appt. I was lied to when I asked if they could do designs like Hawaiian flowers because it's quite apparent they can't and I would have much rather been told the truth to adjust what I wanted prior to going rather than on the fly. My friend and I also felt very taken advantage of when it came to paying. The credit card machine was conveniently out of service and we felt nickeled and dimed for every little thing. We spent over $400 for 4 of us, with nothing special done. They even charged for sparkles on the ring finger and toes as a design charge. They charged my friend to charge her phone too. Not to mention they didn't perform the complete pedicure processes as stated on the price sheet. When I questioned they tried to explain the pricing but the prices 1 lady told us to the other, to the man was completely different. Maybe it's b/c they knew we were from out of town and with COVID they took advantage. It's so sad b/c one of the girls will be going to college in Shepardstown but will not be returning to this salon. It's so horrible to be taken advantage of. I live locally and have given this salon many opportunities to improve my opinion of them. I've had nothing but great pedicures and eyebrow waxes, and the staff is very friendly, but the customer service leaves much to be desired. I've done a number of walk-in appointments and instead of telling me to come back or make an appointment for later, I have sat for upwards of 45 minutes being told "it will be just a few minutes". To avoid this, I've also made appointments, but the same thing happened. Living in Shepherdstown, this is the most convenient place for me to go and the quality of their services is just fine, but I will not be returning due to poor customer service. read more

TD Nails & Spa is now my go to nail place! Whenever I go to any other spa, I can't understand the people, I get overcharged, or they do a hurried job. Not here! My nails came out perfectly - I got a full set of acrylic which was $30's (without tip) and he gave me 15 percent off because it's their opening week. If you schedule it now you may get the same deal. He did a PERFECT job! Got a complimentary hot towel massage for my nails as well. Also, it doesn't smell awful in there and there's seriously over a thousand different colors to choose from. Highly recommend. Oh, one last thing: call ahead of time to make an appointment. Love this place! Came to Shepherdstown for my annual college girls weekend trip. Arrived as a walk in on Friday evening and was greeted and my wait time, despite being very busy, was less than 15 min. Gel manicure was beautiful and my nail tech was really sweet. Called on Sat and made an appointment for 5 of us for pedicures. Arrived and they were ready. Seated us together and gave us all pedicures together. What an amazing find in this little town. The salon was spotless. The staff was professional and very competent. I've had gel nails on and off for about a year now and this was the best polish change/manicure I've had. And I've tried pretty much every salon within 15 miles. And the icing on the cake? I heard great things about this place was expecting what their website said about their waxing. What I received was the exact opposite. I had an appointment at 3:30 for a Brazilian that they didn't see me until 4:00. That was just the beginning. Once I got into the waxing room I got ready as I have for waxes before. When she started it hurt more than any other wax that I have received. I thought it was okay at first and was just a different way to wax. after the appointment was over I was in immense pain and still had wax on my legs, inner thighs, feet, and other places that I was unsure how to remove. I came home and tried to remove the wax. When doing that I was in pain and saw bruising and scaring on my upper inner thigh from her waxing me. I was appalled that this happened and that nothing was said before I left the studio. I have gotten waxed before and these things have never happened. I was so upset and my boyfriend was very worried about my health. She would reuse the same strips and repeatedly wax an area, would not pull the skin tight, and was rushing through the whole process. She didn't even do a full Brazilian wax. Would never recommend anyone to go here and experience the same thing I did. This is not okay and I am surprised they still have a license to wax. read more

Before I start, I have never left a bad review anywhere. I usually keep to myself and just assume maybe they're having a bad/off day. I felt like I needed to post this to warn others. I normally don't go to this nail place but I went once before and got my nails done by Tyler. My nails looked fantastic, the staff was friendly and I thought I'd found my new nail salon. Today I went in for a gel fill and I had an appointment. I am so disappointed in the service. First and foremost I was never greeted when I walked in and I sat for about 10 minutes before I was told I needed to sign in. This was new and I didn't have to do this last time, so I didn't know I needed to do this. Then I was sat down, not spoken to, and CUT several times by a woman. Then a man comes over and starts to work on my nails. And truth be told, it had been 2 and 1/2 weeks since my last fill so I needed it. I understand he was trying to look out for me he kept trying to push for me to get a new set, and I told him multiple times I just didn't have time for a new set. I just needed them for the weekend and I'll be good. I even told him I wasn't going to come back if they broke off. I completely understood it would've been my fault. Nevertheless he PERSISTED. And I kept repeating what I had said the first time. After that I felt like he was being so rough with my fingers. He then nicked me twice and said nothing when I jerked back in pain from it. I had asked for square when he started, they came out extremely round. I paid and left but went back in after further exam in my car. I went back in and just asked if he could fix the shape. I was shaking I was so nervous, I had never asked for my nails to be fixed before. They were that bad to where I couldn't even have them for a WEEK. He was so rude to me and I felt so uncomfortable. Considering I was nice and I even apologized for the inconvenience. He continued to be extremely rough with my hands. He finished and I left. Last time I will get my nails done there. But I do recommend Son at TT Nails in Charles Town by golds gym. He was so kind and FIXED my terrible nails without hesitation. read more
