There is more than enough free parking behind this bank and there is a security guard present in the foyer, it is a small bank location so the line ups can be really long and crazy, I have seen it even touching the front door. Service for the most part is always good but sometimes there is the odd transaction, what I notice the most here are the very odd fashion choices of the staff, sometimes I feel like I have been thrown in the 80s, other times I feel like I am in a small town in the 70s but for the most part their quirky fashion statements do not affect their fast and efficient service.

This week the global environment summit took place in Scotland. If TD had a updated google to advise the bank was closed I would not driven there and not polluted the planet. I called the TD EasyLine team and advised them of my concern. I asked if such a team existed whose responsibility is to update google to reflect changes across the country to advise people across the country the operating hours. Hours change due to scheduled and unscheduled events, like CVD19, Christmas hours, and renovations. Whose responsibility is it to update google for the bank? How much carbon is burnt each year travelling to closed banks throughout the would? How much in the last 10 years? We trust people and organizations keep their word. TDs word is the bank is open from TDs google listing, but in reality the bank is closed. How can society trust TD if they keep their word? If your closed list your closed!

Their atms are easy to use and I like the fact you can choose your denominations of bills on withdrawal. The bank used to be open on Saturdays but suspended that service. If I need to go in for Saturday service I go to the branch on 4 Street SW. Their app is super easy to use and the customer service at the bank is always trying ways to help me. Anytime I have had a problem they rectified it completely and satisfactorily. I have never been disappointed or let down by this outlet. Have nothing but high praise for them. They are always looking at ways to reduce my fees or explaining why I am paying for certain fees; sometimes supplying other options. All my bank needs are met by this branch.

New job gives manual cheques until employees off probation. I didn't want 2/3 of my cheque held for a week so I schlepped down to CIBC Bankers Hall to get the cheque certified. Went to Scotiabank at 1401 17th Ave SW, to the teller, to deposit the cheque and confirm no holds because cheque certified. Was told no, certified doesn't mean that because I could have doctored the cheque myself. Told I'd have to call my home branch in Camrose for assistance. Went to CIBC down the block - couldn't cash cheque written on CIBC account because I have no account with them. Repeat to CIBC teller what I was told about fraud. She raises a eyebrow and says "but you're an established customer. Thats how they know you're not a fraudster". Good point, thought I. Next, I went to TD - my secondary bank. The teller there called CIBC, verified cheque and deposited it without a hold. Shout out to Val at TD on 17th Ave at 8th St for caring about their customers.

The staff here is still green but they are very courteous and friendly and now greet me with my first name. I have been a client of Td for over 15 years now and am extremely satisfied with banking there. I have my car insured at TD as well as an accident insurance plan established there. They have also gifted me with my first credit card in 15 years. I had just started my full time job last year but although had no credit history they wanted to help me attain one. I have a small maximum limit on my card but the important thing is that I am finally started some sort of credit line. This card has come in more than handy while travelling; booking tickets and some last minute emergency decision making I had to do this month. A couple of times in the last 8 years in Mexico I had lost my debit card, and it had been stolen. Td was very quick to courier me a replacement card in 48 hours at no charge. How can you beat this service? This location is also very convenient as there is a Shopper's Drug Mart right around the corner and I am able to whip in and buy last minute things as well as to do any postal needs.

Additionally, when I was recently visiting NYC, TD had banks everywhere. I'm not even kidding--I must've seen at least five around midtown Manhattan. When they say they are everywhere, they really aren't kidding. This is a bonus because lots of machines mean less banking charges--getting cash from my home bank was simpler than getting it from a different one.

Most of my fury comes from the bank fees they charge. I find it funny that they should charge $10 to withdraw money from a TFSA, but that's how they operate. It also costs money to transfer funds from a savings to a chequing account. I guess I should stop transferring money. One of the things I love is the Simply Save program. Every time you use your debit card whether it's for withdrawals or transactions, they will take anywhere from $0.50 to $5.00 and put it in your savings account. Once you reach $100 worth of savings, they give you $10. That's pretty rad, if you ask me. Another thing I love are the fees. I can use my card as many times a month as I want for only $12.99. If I paid per transaction, I would probably be so far in the negative I would never see a dime of my money again. TD is good for their hours as well. They are open longer during business days, and even on the weekends. I've heard numerous people complain about the hours of other banks and I just laugh and say, "I'm with TD!" So, to sum it up, TD rocks and I'm so happy my parents opened an account with them for me all those years ago. I won't be changing banks any time soon!

While other banks seem to make it easy for you to get things done, nobody at TD seems to have any authority to do anything and they are constantly creating a barrage of complicated forms, consultations with their lawyers and several visits later to do almost anything. They are too big. Too many departments so you can't do everything in one place you have to go all over the place. They have the most outdated and archaic forms and don't fill them out for you, they expect you to fill them out correctly. No one there ever offers to go the extra mile. They give minimal service, minimal information and never recommend anything. They'll wait until you get home before you find out you need yet another form and then back to the lawyer again, and then have to call into their very unfriendly phone lines which won't give you the time of day without asking a half a dozen qualifying questions. They have a good trading platform and they're rates are about the best. I guess I'm stuck with them for that. As long as you just do banking and everything is in place and you never have to call them for anything, then they should be OK until you die, then your family will experience what I've just gone through. The branch lady I dealt with never once cracked so much as a smile in the weeks that I worked with her. I'm not speaking of this branch in particular, just TD umbrella in general. The Royal Bank is much better but charges a lot more and gives a lot less interest. It would be nice to have a happy medium.
