Review: 0/5 Stars - Total Financial Incompetence and Empty Apologies…read more If I could give Servus Credit Union zero stars, I would. My experience with the Shawville Blvd SE branch in Calgary has been a masterclass in how to lose a loyal customer's trust through gross incompetence and a complete lack of accountability. The "Estimate" shell game When you are dealing with a mortgage, you expect 100% accuracy. Instead, Servus provided me with four different quotes in a single week. The final bi-weekly payment ended up being over $115 higher than the initial quote they provided. That's a discrepancy of nearly $3,000 per year in fixed costs that was "missed" in their original math. When I questioned this, I was told their branch "calculators" don't match their backend team--which is a terrifying admission of internal dysfunction for a financial institution. Administrative Nightmare Because of their administrative bungling during the transition, they debited my account three times in a single month. One full monthly payment followed by two bi-weekly payments. While they acknowledged this "higher-than-usual outflow," they acted as if it was a minor scheduling quirk rather than a massive hit to a household's monthly cash flow. Zero Accountability The most insulting part? The branch manager actually called me to apologize, explicitly admitting they "made mistakes at every turn" and failed to follow the correct processes. Yet, after admitting they failed me as a client, they followed up with a cold email stating they were "unable to offer any financial goodwill gesture" or loyalty discount. The Verdict Servus Credit Union is happy to admit they are wrong, but they are unwilling to do a single thing to fix it. They expect the customer to pay the price for their professional failures. An apology is just hot air when it isn't followed by action. The second I can break this mortgage and move to a lender that actually knows how to use a calculator and values its members, I am gone. I won't give this institution one cent more than I am legally obligated to. Avoid the Shawville branch at all costs.

My family has been a member of this credit union for decades. My advice as of January 2026: go…read moreelsewhere. The recent, huge and complicated credit union merger has made online banking a scream-out-loud frustrating waste of time. Whoever hired the merger site(s) programmers should receive a review. Here's a tip - if you were a member of ConnectFirst before the merger go to that site not the Servus site for online banking. The Servus site will not take your login. I'm sorry the "Coop Credit Union" of yesteryear has turned into such a wholesale mess. Just go elsewhere.

Ok, so how do you give a review of a bank, let alone a good one? I feel the word 'bank' has taken…read moreon a connotation of other four letter words that our society has embraced so well. Perhaps this should become another one of those. "Oh why don't you go and Bank yourself" or "I got totally Bank-faced last night!" That being said, this RBC bank has the warm and fuzzy feeling closer to some other four letter words such as 'beer', 'shot' or even 'food'. Words that all lead you in the direction of a great night ahead! This is a new bank, clean and simple, chock full of young and keen staff. The attitude is similar to being greeted at an Earls or a beach hotel somewhere warmer than Calgary. They have an open door policy with their account managers so there generally isn't a need to book ahead. The tellers are mostly keen to be there and the account managers always have a smile on their face! Oh, and the best news... they are open late and they are open Saturdays!!! If you live or work in the Beltline, it's time to change banks!

Royal Bank of Canada proves to be discriminatory again!…read more My father died three weeks ago and my mother went to her branch and informed staff that he had passed and provided a death certificate. Staff instantly assumed my mother would not be able to financially manage her secured and unsecured credit lines, which both had zero balances, thus cancelled them in less than 24 hours. No documentation was requested to verify her current income or to justify the decision. Shame on the Royal Bank of Canada to assume that just because she is a women and a senior that she is incompetent. A BLACK MARK Royal Bank of Canada! Yet another clear example of entrenched discrimination against women and seniors. I DO NOT give them one star.....this action is less than one. To bad Yelp does not provide that option.
