I'm happy to say that Gretchen was very helpful and honest. She walked me through the process and explained that the problem may not be able to be fixed until the purchase posted (luckily the purchase was made that morning, so I knew within an hour). She also helped me with reporting my card as stolen to avoid further issues. When I looked at my account on Monday I saw that the purchase had posted. I went back to the branch, Gretchen was there and remembered my situation. She helped me again and I received the money back in my account as promised. I am likely to keep my account with M &T mostly because she was willing to help me. I know that it's not the bank's fault, but the account is small and I was debating whether to close it out.

They stole money from me. Beware - incompetent employees. Zero stars. I withdrew $600 from the atm…read morelast night and two of the bills were $5s instead of $20s, so I received $570 rather than $600. It was after hours so I called the 800 number, spoke with them, and they said that it's a branch error and that the branches fill and maintain the atms. Went in this morning and the branch manager admitted that they are the ones who fill it with money and that it's their mistake, but there's nothing they can do about it - call the 800 number. I told her that was unacceptable and I had already done that, and she repeated that there's nothing she can do about it. I walked out frustrated and then she yelled something at me from her cubicle as I was on the sidewalk holding the door for one of her elderly customers. Totally unprofessional.

I had no idea this was even something that could be done. I've been working with Tammy for close to 19 years now, and through all the ups and downs of the "market", my piece of mind has been assured.
