PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO DO BUSINESS WITH KEYBANK. My account was compromised and one…read moreof the checks was duplicated and cashed for almost $6800. The bank assured me that I have nothing to worry about, this happens all the time and that I should be able to see the money refunded to me within 2 weeks. After 5 months of waiting and over 23 phone calls, they finally told me that I didn't notify them within 30 days and that they are now unable to refund my money. They told me this over the phone but said they will also send me a letter and explain everything there. I never received a letter or any other form of contact. They made me wait 5 months then ended up saying they cant help me only because I didn't know until after 30 days? They shouldn't have allowed for that check to be cashed. I have a business to run. I don't have the time to check my account every day. That's the bank's job. To protect their customers. KeyBank is not safe to do business with and you can't trust them with your money. The same thing happened to one of my friends at Webster Bank and she got a full refund with an apology. When I opened an account with the KeyBank they were so nice to me and ready to help. But when it comes to a problem, they would not even look at me or say hi. They look at you like you are the problem. I talked to the police department and over 7 banks. They all said that it's KeyBank's job to do the investigation and refund me the money and that they've never even heard of anything like this before.

Interior of bank in late December looks as if they're going out of business. Had a problem making a commercial deposit. Unable to issue a receipt. Computers have been down since the evening before. Staff seems to be competent. Bank itself pretty awful.

Wells Fargo Bank

Wells Fargo Bank

Background info which might help you understand this five star review:…read more 1. I actually DID chose to bank with Wells Fargo, I've had an account for the last three or four years, and have never had any problems with their policies 2. I've just moved from Southern California to Massachusetts. 3. THIS branch suddenly became my closest bank branch Since we live in the digital age, and I virtually never go to the bank, I figured my spouse and I could keep our Wells Fargo accounts with no problem. Then we went to buy a car, and we needed to transfer a four-figure chunk of change to a local auto broker. We hit a massive, seemingly insurmountable wall. Because of all those Nigerian princes scamming people out of their money, you pretty much can't do a simple, same-day type transfer of funds directly from you to someone else, unless its for a very trivial amount of money. In order to protect you from yourself, banks and Western Union make you set up complex accounts, fill out tons of paperwork, and wait a long time. The car we selected had multiple people interested in buying it, so we needed to be able to free up the money quickly... so we needed to go into the bank and get a cashier's check, as if it is still 1983. We grudgingly got back into the car, and drove the 2.5 hours to the nearest Wells Fargo. Mind you, we'd been in Mass for about five days at this point, after our ten day drive from California. We like the car, and hanging out together, but we were not excited. Luckily, the staff at this branch was incredibly nice to us, and helped us clear out our two checking accounts as well as our three savings accounts. This was a lot of transactions of various types for them, as I'm sure you can imagine, and it's definitely not the most interesting way to spend an afternoon in Connecticut, but it had to be done, and they made it a breeze. I can only hope our new bank, Citizens, takes as good of care of us as Wells Fargo did. They didn't give me a stuffed pony when I opened my account, so I don't think it'll be as good an experience as WF was! ;-)

One star only, Only because someone made an effort to call me back. I called them because someone…read morestole my identity had a bunch of checks written with my name on them as well as there's. The account exists, my name isn't on the account just the checks they ordered planning on nailing me for fraudulent checks, charges and anything else this person could do. Wells Fargo's reaction: "Just don't write on any of the checks!" I got more help from the police department, check company and post office! It's clear Wells Fargo enjoys ruining people's lives. Never will recommend this bank to anyone, ever. Heard this isn't the first time this bank behaves like this.
