Reviewing a banking center is not my normal "thang" but based on what happened to me a week ago, I find it's in order. On Friday the 13th (typical), I logged into the TD Bank website to check my money situation before making a larger than normal purchase. Imagine my surprise (dismay or misfortune are also appropriate discriptors), when I logged on to find that my bank account is empty! This is all entirely questionable as not only did I have a good chunk of change saved up, but it was also pay-day and there is no way it should be empty. So, I take a quick spin through my pending charges and it becomes clear...I got hot carded. Apparently, some thoughtful, honest and upstanding citizen decided to spend my hard earned dollars at several gas stations and grocery stores in Georgia. Times are tough, glad to be of help to you, mysterious j@ck@ss. I called the TD Bank hotline and immediately reported my card as stolen (even though I still had my card and it had never left my possession). I couldn't have gotten a more unconcerned, less empathetic person if I had called and specifically asked for one. He acted (and spoke) like he was bored and the situation was unconcerning. He rubbed me the wrong way and I decided to follow up by heading up the street to the Winter Street branch near my work. I hobbled in (still in a cast with my broken foot), clearly distressed because it's Friday and all my money was just stolen and that means I don't have the ability to fund my drinking and eating habits for the weekend (and that is a DIRE circumstance) and the woman immediately said to me, "tough couple of days, huh" in a truly sympathetic way. I sighed and with my chin trembling and tears threatening, I said, "yeah....help me." And she did. Not only did she help, but she didn't even see a dispute registering in the system (I supposedly took care of that on the phone with the disinterested customer service rep) and she immediately made sure that she put the charges into the system and printed me off a new debit card right there in the banking center. She was efficient, very kind and understanding and made me feel a whole lot better about a very crappy situation. Great branch for decent customer service. Now give me my money back! read more

Helpful staff, knew rules and how to best use them to set up account with least fees.

Not good. I would have to leave this bank that was because since around 2020 every time when used the ATM machine, there always a little mark under the screen like "not welcome person", "stranger", or some like that. Felt so uncomfortable that this bank might get issue out there and as customers, we won't be able to know. People who opened bank accounts with them may want to know more and make decisions to either take the money out for minimum working with them or leave there for best experiences. Horrible... read more

I had a problem from the start! I applied online and they only sent me a card, no pin, no nothing. When I called customer service a week later they told me that I had to go into the bank to activate my card. Shortly after, the pandemic happened so I had to wait. I called a month later, confirmed my identity and they told me my card was still active. I missed the bank yesterday so I go in today. Not only did I feel unwelcome, I was skipped and had to wait longer. Once I was up, I wasn't greeted, the guy didn't ask me for my card or id just tried to take it out my hand. The man who was previously being helped was still in the chair and conversing with the guy helping me. I wasted half of my break for neglect and to find out that my card had been closed for fraud the same month I applied for it! What is life, another bank off my list. read more

This review is strictly for the ATM and NOT for the branch services. The 2 stars are given for the convenience of the location as this is located in the heart of Downtown Crossing. I do not have a TD specific debit card but I enjoy using their ATMs are you are able to customize the bills that you want during withdrawals. Convenience and machine aside, the ATM section of the bank is terrible. I know that the area has many homeless people and it certain shows from the condition of the space. The area is dirty and smelled of urine which shows that the branch manager does not take care of the area. I went during the day so I am not sure if the doors are locked during closed hours. I will likely still use the ATM next time I need some specific bills but they need to clean the area up. read more

I cant speak about all employees, but there's a young latina woman at the southie branch who is a dumb as a brick, but what makes it worse is she's a real bitch too. I handed her a document and she stared at it for a minimum of 2 minutes, without exaggeration, blank face. (there were less than 100 words on the page). I asked her, do you have a question? she looked up at me, and then she turned it over to stare at the back of the page, which was blank ... for no less than 20 seconds. So when she turned it back over, again, and stared for another maybe 30 seconds, i asked again, do you have a question? and then she then told me she couldn't work with me cause "i have a bad attitude." (us literate folks are so bad) I don't expect brain surgeons in the service arena , and im all for helping the limited or mentally challenged by giving them jobs, but she's a nasty nasty nasty woman. Id never go there again. read more

Customer service agent mailed my checks to an address I haven't lived at in years. My new address was already in the TD system but she failed to confirm that information when she submitted the order. If i hadn't put tracking on my checks, my money would have been completely stolen from me and possibly my identity. My account was compromised, and the fraud dept suggested I close it. I had no access to my money until I ran to a TD branch on my lunch break and opened a brand new account. Very reckless mistake which almost cost me my livelihood. read more

Oh dear! This is a difficult review to write...as Stinky has had numerous different experiences at different times with TD. They are maybe more like 3 1/2 stars...but that is not an option. It is much better than Citizens though. This is not for this particular branch...but have used this one as well. This branch is on a street that is like a cross between A Clockwork Orange and Night Of The Living Dead. Sadly. The phone customer service is usually pretty nice though...and easy to get through to...except lately...but that may be due to plague. They have even waived a few fees for Stinky...which is appreciated. Some branches seem to be understaffed. Wait times can vary. While old Stinky is quite satisfied with this bank...there have been a few minor problems, and it is not a knock your socks off experience. But it does get the job done...and is better than other big bank options. read more

Horrible experience with customer service. I had a simple question and they were judging my transactions on my credit card. Not professional. I am very upset. read more

This TD Bank location was perfect for me as I walked through the city, so I stopped by for the first time. There was a security guard when I entered who smiled and nodded to me instantly making me feel welcome. Then, after waiting for only a minute, a representative named Brian became available and he was so friendly. He did exactly as I asked, he made me feel like he cared about my day rather than just dealing with my transaction, and he kept my banking private from other customers nearby. I had a really good experience with this branch and thought that TD Bank should know it! read more

Always a 10-20 minute wait to do simple banking. Avoid at all costs. Unfortunately I have to come here for my work and it cuts a lot of time out of my lunch trying to make deposits. Very frustrating. read more

Horrible, horrible customer service! No tellers ever working and long lines! Can't make simple deposits or anything else for that matter because you can't park outside without getting a parking ticket. Funny, funny bank. Please stay away from the Boylston st branch it's the worst read more

One of the worst banks ive ever dealt with. I was on vacation and notified them well before leaving with the dates and everything they needed. I had to deposit a check into my account before i was coming back from vacation and they put a hold on it for 3 weeks. When i called they said they couldnt lift the hold because it was already put on a hold for the amount of time they put it on. Long story short i still dont have that money cleared and will definitely he closing this account the second i can pull my money out. Worst bank ive ever dealt with read more

THERE ARE SO MANY FEES. I was warned but their convenitent hours and drive-through made me look past it. I definitely regret that decision! They are open later than other banks and service is fast and hassle free at the drive-through. Actually going inside the bank for any reason is a nightmare. The employees lack customer service skills and are not customer friendly. They do not even acknowledge you are there until they feel like it, and when they do they always seem annoyed or bored. read more

Tellers here are super-friendly every time I go. I've been to this bank easily over 20 times since I've lived in Boston. They are always friendly and nice. Sometimes the lines are long but you have to remember that you are in the middle of a major city, and there aren't that many TD locations in Boston. read more

The reason for one star is, I have seen 3 students who work at TD Bank and all 3 have said they have been abused. They say they can't sit down on the job, one got a doctors note to be able to sit down on the job, one worked 10 hours straight, 30 min for a break, they push the tellers to sell credit cards, and if they don't reach a goal, they threaten a deduction from their pay. I am sure different branches are better than others. What kind of atmosphere is this? there should be stools to sit on at every TD bank, I have met nice people there but give me a break Marcia E. read more

Iam making a major complaint on the stoneham TD bank .Montvale ave. The complaint is I was treated like a shoe with dog shit on it. By the branch manager Nicole L Fosset , the intitian of the visit was I had a 10k cash rewards card. In which I paid the balance off last month for $7200 .and I've been paying $300 a month never late once. In 8 yrs of owning card. So it was free and clear.so I won a machine on Ebay. The required a wire transfer .so I was allotted 3k cash advance. Well this nicole was pissed about making the transfer. Was trying every trick in her miserable bag to fowl it up .then questioned all about my purchase and obviously didnt like my choices .warned me of all this negative outcomes. .so to make a long story short. She got it wired. .it was after 5. On a Friday. This wire transfer didnt reach till Tuesday afternoon. When the whole purpose was to be instant. Into the auctioneers bank for a mark of paid. In 48hrs. But heres the whole kicker. T D bank these no good scoundrels to say the least. Lowered my credit line from 10k. To $3700. For punishment Is all I can see. And they keep making inquiries to my credit bureaus .this was such a kick in the balls. That I still cannot get off the ground. They made my credit plummet 40 points. And i got denied on 3 credit cards do to this action taken by these maggots. Miserable .I'm reporting this to the federal Trade Commision .. read more

I have always liked their convenient hours. The people always deal with my transactions quickly too. Only thing that I disliked was that they started charging a service fee on my savings account and never notified me. It was due to a policy change but I still would have like to have been notified. Otherwise, it has been good experiences. read more

I use TD Bank for their free checking/debit card for light day to day usage (coffee, lunch, commuting expenses, etc.). I like their long hours and I've only had positive customer service at this branch; I had to get my debit card replaced and they printed it right in the store for me. They have a coin exchange, too, but I haven't used it. I've never actually been hit with any fees, even though a couple times I thought I was going to / probably should have. My only complaint is not the fault of this branch, but in general there aren't that many TD banks in convenient locations in Boston (when I haven't been able to get to this one I've had to drive to Cambridge, Burlington, etc.). Also, this location is in Downtown Crossing, I think the Yelp profile says Hyde Park. read more

What a terrible branch. Dealt with the manager who didn't even know how to smile. Not very polite. Pawned me off to some junior manager. Who sounded like a used car salesman with his description of terms and policies. Was absolutely no assistance in resolving an issue I was having with my account. If you have to use a TD Bank branch. Steer clear of this one. The worst customer service I've seen in Boston. read more

A lot of fees and poor communication. I will never use them. In a ingle year, I hot hit with so many fees which were either their mistake or partly their fault. After opening, they did not link my accounts and reaultes in me getting hit with fees. After I moved large sum out and close savings, the bank manage didn't bother to tell me I am below the minimum and resulted in more fees. I tried to ask them but they didn't care. The workers are cold. I would urge local people to use Middlesex or Needham bank. read more

TD Bank touts it's incredible service --- and I would normally agree, but today they cancelled my card and a purchase simply because we travel frequently and failed to tell them the last time we were outside the country! Wouldn't a BETTER service angle be to call us up or e-mail us and ASK if we would like a different type of account or security designation to protect us?! Now we have a cancelled hotel reservation, and have to change ALL the accounts we have trusted with the the number for one-click ordering, just because they made an arbitrary decision that didn't even make sense to start with --- cold have all been avoided with ONE PHONE CALL or e-mail!! TD BANK --- YOU SUCK! read more

I signed up for Yelp just to write this review, that should tell you something. The first thing to go when the recession hit was customer service... not here. I have to say that the people at this branch do an outstanding job. I have never seen such good customer service in my lifetime. The bank had accidentally post dated one of my checks clearing, which meant that the maintenance fee went through before the check and caused me to overdraft. Yeah I know I should have had a couple of bucks in there to cover the fee, but I didn't. I really wasn't worried about it because they say in their terms and conditions that it won't cause you to OD. Well luckily enough I had just printed out a statement saying that the check cleared two days before they now had it dated on the online banking. Due to my experience with other banks I had that with me and was ready to go to war. I had prepared all my arguments and proofs, but the funny thing was, I didn't need any of it. They were so understanding and fixed the problem immediately. I had also had a problem with fraud on my account which was handled in the same way. Yes they do charge small monthly fee vs. those so called free checking banks, but I have to tell you it's well worth it for the services you get. If you're tired of banks, then go to this one. They are honestly the best thing to happen to modern banking in years. read more
